Oak Lodge Care Home

from S P (Sister of Resident) published on 18 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

The staff at this care home work really hard and are amazing with my sister. I feel that some form of outings to places/shops would be lovely and benefit some of the residents. Meals repetitive. Maybe a trifle or fruit and jelly for dessert or tea. More staff needed as after lunch a lot of the residents
are left struggling while waiting to be taken to the toilet. Luckily my sister is not needing that help at the moment.

Reply from Florin Vranceanu, Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are currently in the process of having a minibus on a regular basis. This will enable us to take our residents out on day trips. As the weather has got better, the activity team have been taking some residents to the local shops and caffes. Soon we will change our menus to spring/summer ones. We are welcoming residents and family members to have their input. Fresh fruits are served on a daily basis. We are using a dependency tool to ensure accurate and sufficient staff are deployed on each shift in order to meet all our residents needs. At present the tool shows that our staffing levels are above upper average. If at any time you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Peel Moat Care Home

from F M (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Overall, this is a good care home.
My mum has been resident here for 7.5 years and is happy here.
I am mostly happy with her care...the manager is very approachable and always available to speak to, if needed. The majority of the care staff are polite, friendly and kind. I always feel welcome when
I visit.
Some go the extra mile.
The activities team are amazing - they carry out lots of great activities and allow all residents to get involved where they can. This has been particularly good for my mum.
It is lovely that they have an accessible jacuzzi bath and a visiting hairdresser.
As with all care homes, there are some issues, but these are minor and usually addressed promptly.
I have had some issues with my mum's clothes...items going missing, items not hung up in her wardrobe, some incorrect items and sometimes not her clothes have been put on her and photographed and put on Facebook.

I could not have been happier with the care my mum was given. The staff were exceptional and I cannot speak too highly of the place. The best thing about it was the fact you were welcome to visit your mum any time you wanted - you didn't have to pre-book as in other homes. We were told they had nothing
to hide by the manager, that was very much the case as we never found anything untoward, the family was still the same. I would highly recommend this place.

I can't praise Ty Gwynno enough for the love and care they show my nan. The staff aren't just professional- they're truly compassionate and treat every resident like family. It gives us peace of mind knowing she's not only well looked after but genuinely cherished. One of the most beautiful things about
the home is that they grant each resident a wish. My nan's wish was to see the sea one more time and that dream came true recently. She didn't stop smiling all day and some staff even came in on their day off to help make it happen. That kind of dedication is rare and speaks volumes about the people working there. The home is always buzzing with activities, from Welsh lessons to summer and Christmas fayres, raffles and even a Valentine's Ball coming up. They've even helped my nan pick out an outfit for the ball. These thoughtful touches make all the difference. Ty Gwynno truly goes above and beyond. It's the best care home I've ever known, and we're beyond grateful for everything they do.

Belle Vue Care Home

My father was a resident here for nearly 5 years on the dementia floor. The staff here are exemplary. They cared for and 'loved' my Dad all through his time here in particular the nursing staff and his carer who also cared for him. Sadly he passed away on 30th October but right through to the end he
was comfortable and well cared for. Again the staff were thoughtful and understanding to me and my family during the final days. The home is clean and the residents are happy and well fed. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you, he was happy here.

Ty Gwynno Care Home

from Hazel S (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 19 February 2025

My mum-in-law was sent to Ty Gwynno after it became obvious her old care home was not coping and she was bored and lonely. What a difference in Ty Gwynno. Loads of interactions, events, stimulus, outings, staff, and no longer stuck in a lonely room. In her old care home she had 9 falls and 4 hospital
visits as there was nobody to keep a close eye on her. She has been in Ty Gwynno for months now with no falls! Always staff to assist and plenty of company and a whole range of activities. As a result she is far more stimulated and settled and does not seem lonely. Excellent place!

The staff have made the whole transition into a care home situation so much more bearable. The time they give the family to listen and support is invaluable. Every member of the team - the maintenance, the cleaner, the management, the administrator, the front desk lady, and the caring team - each one
has been so lovely as well as professionally outstanding. It is a huge relief to know our mum is safe, clean and well-cared for. Thank you so much.
