Wade Centre

from A W (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 December 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother went in for respite care and was very well looked after. She received a very warm welcome from the staff, the centre was bright, warm and very clean, a real credit to the staff. Nothing was too much bother and her room was very light, warm and had a lovely outlook onto the garden. I had to
contact the staff beforehand with some questions, the phone was answered promptly and information was provided quickly and clearly. My mother enjoyed her short stay in the Wade and I felt very relaxed and confident she would be well looked after by a very happy and caring team. I only wish her stay could have been longer but we were only able to get the few nights that were available.
A lovely centre, with a wonderful, warm, welcoming, and friendly staff, and I look forward to placing my mother in their care in the future.

I’ve only come on to completely hype up and preach my support for the new management they have in place.
The manager is an absolute delight to deal with and she will resolve all and any issues you have. I had slight concerns with previous management about the care of my wife and nothing was really
done about it. I brought these same concerns to the manager and they were fixed within the week.
My wife loves to spend time with other patients and she just adores the staff that look after her. She might not always have the ability or patience to say thank you. So hear it from me, thank you!

Non-compliance to provide formal complaint details. Extremely rude staff and very argumentative regarding appropriate care. Staff prefer to sit around and chat amongst themselves and eat food than attend to residents in their care.

The manager and her staff are excellent. They really understood mum's personality and she had a lot of fun. Her room was spotlessly clean and had patio doors and a large wetroom. Mum enjoyed the food especially the kitkats and biscuits with a cuppa. Everyone is kind, professional and thoughtful and
she became fond of them all. As mum became ill they were able to manage her extra care needs with the help of the GP and district nurses. They also looked after us as a family and made us welcome. If you are looking for a care home for a loved one there can be none better.

Reply from Anne Napier, Care Home Manager at Lochbroom House

Thank you so much for your kind review, we are very appreciative of all feedback and are delighted that you felt supported as a family and that your mum was happy with us here at Lochbroom House. We always aim to bring fun, laughter and love during a very difficult time for families and their loved ones.
Many thanks from the whole team.

The manager is very good and very helpful, but there is one man who doesn't give a very nice welcome to friends and family. I hope it stays pet-friendly.

I would say that my initial experience in Home Farm was not a good one. My husband and I were world travellers and life in a home was not an attractive one. The manager recognised this and did all in his power to accommodate us. We found the staff kind and helpful but my husband found the communal lounge
upsetting but the manager found us another lounge in safe territory! Our general experience has been a good one. We have learned much and appreciate the way the manager has ensured that we have a church service in the home every Sunday.
I would certainly recommend this home to others.

My husband and I came to visit mum in February 2019. It was so beautiful to see her face light up when we arrived. The staff and other residents were very lovely, they know mum so very well and the staff were so genuine and informative about mum's life in the home.
They were also very compassionate
and understanding as we’d just recently lost dad so this was a very emotional visit.
I think I will always feel emotional when I visit my beautiful mum and I feel reassured knowing the staff are very supportive and understanding. I hope to visit again soon, can’t wait to see my mum's little face. Thank you to the staff who take such great care of my precious mum.

The care that my parents receive is exemplary. They are treated with kindness and respect and most importantly, as individuals.
I visit frequently and the staff are friendly and welcoming and always ready to help. I am confident that I am kept fully informed of any health issues and all aspects of
my parents' care are discussed with me.

There is a wide variety of activities to cater for all tastes. The food is excellent and appetising. The rooms are comfortable and personalised.

My mother has improved beyond all expectations in the happy family atmosphere and my father was touched by the warm welcome home he received after a recent spell in hospital.

The whole family are reassured that my parents are safe and happy and feel ‘at home’ at Home Farm.

The care shown to our darling Dad was always great but during the time he was unwell and at his death, it was just wonderful - such caring and amazing friends looking after our dearest Dad. The way we were all supported as a family has been such a strength to us and we are overwhelmed by it, words simply
can't express how highly we rate Home Farm Care Home. Thank you all very very much.

Home Farm Care Home is a delightful well-run care home.
My sister-in-law has been cared for here for many years and has been exceptionally well looked after. She is now 104 years old and has been treated so very well in every respect. She has her own room and is very comfortable.

When my mother-in-law arrived towards the end of March, she was warmly welcomed. All organisation regarding her move from Kent was made much easier due to the very helpful staff in Portree.

Since her arrival, I have only noticed kindness and consideration from all the staff. Nothing has been too

much trouble and we have at no time been made to feel that we were a trouble or that any question was too small.

I can honestly say that I have never known a care home as good as Home Farm. The rooms, including communal areas, are all clean and bright. There are no unpleasant odours, residents are allowed personal belongings and furniture where appropriate and the layout and public areas a spacious and welcoming.
Best of all, however, is the general atmosphere and welcome. The staff are without fail helpful, caring and above all cheerful. The public areas and office are always full of laughter and happiness which rubs off onto the residents who add to the welcome more often than not. From all I have seen and all that I am told by the residents, Home Farm is a wonderful place to be if your own home is no longer a viable option. This is only made possible because of the staff and local management, so a big thank you to all concerned. Oh...and I nearly forgot, I hear the food is pretty good as well. What more could anyone want.

My father has settled into the home due to the support from all the staff. He is well looked after and cared for. He is treated as an individual and his needs are met as an individual, not a number. He has not lost his identity at all and still has his sense of humour. He receives encouragement to socialise
and take part in activities - very much aware of what is going on. Took part in the burns supper ceilidhs etc.

As a family, we cannot praise the manager and her staff highly enough for their care and attention towards my husband.
He was admitted in emergency circumstances due to my becoming ill and they have gone out of their way to ensure his needs are met and that he is settled and content.
His visitors
are made extremely welcome and they have kept me and my family fully updated as to how he is getting on.
An excellent home.
