Thurn Court

from Patricia Mary G (Brother-in-law of Resident) published on 5 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Thurn Court have looked after my brother-in-law since June last year until his passing on Saturday 25th January 2025.
We have been extremely happy with the care and understanding of my brother-in-law's needs since we placed him into their care.
The whole staff team, starting with the Manager, careers,
all the way down to the housekeeping, and cleaning staff, and a special mention to the Activities Co-ordinator who always invited us to join in their daily activities, wherever possible or attend their events laid on for the service users. There are very many dedicated staff looking after our families, and far too many to mention.
We as a family, have felt very confident that our brother was looked after with love and care during his stay at Thurn Court and offered exactly the care we could no longer offer at home.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you sincerely for your dedication to our brother.
I would have no hesitation in recommending your home.

Reply from Mary Mika, Manager at Thurn Court

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I am happy that we are looked after your brother-in-law well and gave all the best care we can possibly give in a person-centred way.

Respectful carers treating residents with good care and dignity. Very clean and well maintained home, bright, modern and very well kept both inside and out. Approachable senior staff that take on board your requirements and needs. The home cooked meals are well balanced and nutritional. Overall, I would

I just wanted to say that my mum has been at Curtis Weston House for over 3 years and passed away this month. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care they have given to my mum and the support they have given to us as a family. They have been amazing and I do not think I could have survived
it all without them.
All my love to the staff.

I am always completely amazed at how clean, warm and welcoming Curtis Weston House is. All the staff are approachable and will work with you regarding the care for your loved one.
Yes sometimes things are not perfect, but, have given 5 stars as the care and compassion is faultless and for me that
outweighs any minor issues. Which I hasten to add, have never been about the care and are always sorted.
We are going through a very challenging time at the moment, but I have no qualms about leaving her in their care.

Our grandad moved to Curtis Weston House after a bout of pneumonia. Grandad ended up staying permanently. The management and staff have been the kindest, professional in their approach and treated grandad and other residents like they were family. Unfortunately grandad passed away at the home and they
were nothing but dignified, showed empathy when our grandad passed. Thank you all for what you do and continue to do when we cannot. Words cannot express how grandad loved Curtis Weston and all the staff and residents.

From my first visit, I found Kirby House to be a very friendly and homely care home. The managers have always been helpful and understood how hard the decision was for us to move our Father to the home; so they gave us space to make the decision. The staff are lovely, friendly, and helpful to my Father
and won't do anything with him until they have had a chat with him. They show respect and treat him with dignity. They are also very supportive and helpful to relatives. The activities that they have helped to occupy and stimulate the residents and there are plenty of them. Overall I think this is a very good care home to place a relative.

Overall I'm very happy with the care my mother receives at Huntingdon Court. The staff are always polite, attentive to my mother's needs, competent and compassionate. There are always different activities happening, the well-being activities coordinator is a staff and should be recognised for the work
that she does. I know working in the care/nursing sector can be so challenging at times but I feel all staff try their best to make a difference.

Mum appears to be well looked after but feel over the past few months her care has not been as consistent as it was. Perhaps due to new staff or understaffed, I couldn't say. Staff are friendly and if I ask a question a problem or query is dealt with - but should I need to ask?
The property itself
needs a bit of TLC and money spent on it, not just the outside but also some of the residents' rooms which can be poor quality.
Overall we know she is safe and generally well looked after which is why she is still there.

My mum is a very private person and sometimes struggles with being in the home. The staff care and treat Mum with the utmost dignity. They go beyond, they chat to her and when she's having a bad day really try to get to what the problem is. In August Mum was gravely ill with doctors suggesting that
she went to the hospital, giving end of life care Mum did not want to go! The doctor then said the hospital would make her too anxious. The staff without doubt cared and loved and Mum is getting ready for Christmas. The cake they made for her 94th was brilliant. They know and love my mum dearly. Cannot thank them enough. Xxk
