The staff were so very nice and lovely could not do enough for my father in law. They were always available and would always spend time with him, the care was very good. We felt that he was being well looked after and weren't worried about him being there, we felt that he would be looked after well.
They would encourage him to take part in activities which was nice.

The staff where very good to all his family as well we got to know them well.

My mother was well cared for at Goldenview Care Home during her assessment stay.
The hard work put into meeting her needs alongside those of other residents, some of whom need significant help and present challenge to those providing it, was evident day by day.
As a visitor I was always made welcome,
they kept me informed on my mother's condition, treatment and progress, answered my questions, and liaised effectively with those responsible for assisting her care on discharge back home.
Thank you to all concerned at Goldenview.

Goldenview Care Home

from Lauren S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 20 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Grandad was admitted following a fall and sadly within just 13 days their condition deteriorated rapidly.
The level of care or lack thereof was beyond anything we could have imagined. The care provided was inadequate, leading to a significant decline in my Grandads health.
We have formally raised
a complaint with the care home, authorities, including CQC and social services, are involved. Unfortunately, the outcome was tragic, as my Grandad passed away. It's heartbreaking to think of the suffering my Grandad endured and I would strongly caution anyone considering this care home for their loved ones. We are hopeful that investigations will lead to accountability and better care practices in the future, but for now our family is devastated by the loss we've experienced.

I bitterly regret disregarding those older 1 & 2 star reviews when my mother had the misfortune to be sent here for assessment last summer (the abhorrent discharge with no choice option and no due diligence from the hospital is for another CQC complaint). Totally inadequate for my mother's needs and
40 miles too far from home. Totally destroyed her physical and mental well-being, and caused much stress for me too. She ended up in hospital twice due to the 'care' she received. The second time I had to get there urgently after midnight as she wasn't expected to survive. She came out in a far worse state than when she arrived at the home two weeks prior. I see not much has changed.

Awful. Relative mentally declined whilst in their care. Staff doing their best.
Rooms awful. Residents overall ignored and left to sit in chairs, in rows, in front of a very loud TV. Breakfast lunch and tea all served in same chair they have been in since early morning. Just awful.

The rooms are cold and dirty. Dirt and chewed sweet stuck inside bedside drawer. Bathroom cabinet filthy. Patient name and info on bedroom wall dated Aug, not for my NOK. No toilet frame, just one grab rail to assist in toilet and no grab rail at all in one of the in communal toilets downstairs, looked
like had snapped off the wall.
Most staff do their best, are pleasant but ruled and overruled by senior carer who ignores you even when you are talking directly to her, face to face, asking for help such as taking relative to the toilet. Remarkable how she then just walks away as though she hasn't seen or heard you.
Unsafe narrow corridors so when there is an incident with agitated patients there is nowhere to get out of the way. Lounge unsafe, residents lined up in rows in chairs all day in front of loud tv so they can't be heard asking for help, creates agitation. Senior carer said quiet room was mess, it was, and wasn't quiet. Reception staff lovely and very helpful and caring.

My husband has been in Goldenview for four months and we have nothing but praise and gratitude for the care he has received. Sometimes my husband's behaviour can be challenging, but it has always been met with kindness, respect and understanding. As a family, we have all felt that he couldn't have received
better care anywhere else. We have been grateful, too, for the open office arrangement, as we have been able to ask questions, discuss his care etc without ever feeling we shouldn't. We have also received incredible help from the management team in securing the next stage of my husband's care. Thank you everyone for the wonderful work you do.

My husband was a temporary resident for 16 weeks at Goldenview.
I cannot thank the manager and her team enough for their patience, kindness, friendly welcome and care that they gave to my husband and our family at all times.
I would like to have given 4.5 stars as our experience was very good.

My mother spent a number of weeks at Goldenview following release from hospital and we cannot thank the home and staff for the care she received. Having never been in this situation before we didn't know what to expect but found the service professional, welcoming and friendly with the utmost care shown
to my mother. She has just been released home and I am sure will miss the staff and their attention. We will miss our weekly visits as well I am sure. Keep up the good work Goldenview.

My mum was sent here after being discharged from the hospital 9 weeks ago. Within 10 minutes of her arriving, the home had already rang to introduce themselves. Within the first couple of weeks, problems started to arise with my mum's behaviour, and her dementia started to plummet. The communication
between myself and the management team was spot on. Every time I had a question or a worry the manager was on hand to answer or reassure me.
The manager and two other particular members of staff played a major part in Mum's stay making sure Mum had what she needed when she needed it.
Between themselves making sure Mum's feelings and thoughts were listened to. And went to great lengths to make sure Mum's stay was enjoyable.

In December last year, my dad was rushed into hospital.
My dad was transferred to an assessment bed at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
As soon as I stepped into the home, I knew instantly that this was the best place for my dad, the staff were so welcoming. It really has touched my heart, the excellent
care my dad has received is beyond excellent.
I can't praise the staff enough, from the cleaners, laundry, kitchen, care, senior care, admin, trained nurses, and manager.
I picked up on how the staff are with each other just incredible. How the staff are with the residents, they are just so caring.
I want to mention all the staff because there's an incredible pulling together.
You have to give this lady a massive thank you because the manager holds it all together, everyone in the home has an immense amount of respect for her.
Just thanks so much for everything you all do for my dad and your welcome to myself and my family.

Our brother-in-law was admitted for an assessment bed, even after the first 24 hours the difference could be seen.
Our brother-in-law was brighter and more responsive.
We can not fault the staff they were attentive and caring to him.
We will always be in their debt for the care and empathy they
gave him while he was in their care was excellent.

My experience with Goldenhill Nursing Home far exceeded expectations. The staff demonstrated exceptional care and professionalism throughout my mum's stay. The facility provided a safe and welcoming environment, contributing to a positive rehabilitation experience. The supportive nature of the staff
played a crucial role in boosting my mum's confidence. Overall, I highly commend Goldenhill for its commitment to providing excellent care and creating a caring atmosphere for residents. Thank you!

What a lovely place Goldenview is, set in the countryside, Dad's room had a marvellous view.
All the staff are incredibly friendly and made Dad feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble, and they're all polite and caring.
Dad's clothing was all labelled, so no worry over that and an inventory was
made, which we were able to check so that when we collected his belongings we received pretty much everything.
Everyone was so helpful during Dad's assessment, and we felt reassured that Dad's continuing care will be top-notch.

My dad has been in for an assessment for a few weeks. During this time, he has had excellent care, and we have noticed a big improvement in his health, especially mentally. Due to the 24-hour care he has received, he is much better. We would like to thank the staff for how they have looked after our
dad; he has enjoyed the chats with the staff and the care they have given him. Had it been closer for the family to visit, we would not have had a problem with him staying there. Thank you, Goldenhill.

My Mum was taken to Goldenhill from hospital for assessment. In the weeks she was there she was well looked after. The staff were amazing. Mum's room and all around the home were very clean, with no unpleasant odours. The food looked lovely and it was great to see all the events that were going on to
entertain the residents. Can't thank them enough.

Our mum/nana was admitted to Golden View on June 13, 2023. Staff there are courteous, polite, respectful and made her short stay like a second home. Mum sadly passed away on 25 July peacefully and comfortably surrounded by loved ones. The care that the GP, nurses and support staff provided was second
to none. The environment provided was joyous and dignified and, as a family, we are so grateful and thankful. You have all been so lovely.
Thank you.

I arrived at Goldenhill in great pain after a horrendous ambulance journey from one of the two previous hospitals I had been in after a fall. I had acquired terrible bed sores at one hospital and neither hospital had managed to sort them out, nor did they identify that I had a head injury that meant
I could not write, read or tell the time. Also, I was unable to walk due to a hip fracture. The fantastic staff at Goldenhill promptly set about sorting out all my problems. The treatment I received in this wonderful home was beyond belief. From the management, who moved heaven and earth to sort out any problems, the nurses who were kind, caring and knowledgeable, to the physiotherapists who were great, and all the other people who made up your team. Especially the brilliant carers who worked so hard and remained kind, caring, patient and helpful however daunting the task. It seems so inadequate to say thank you so much for everything, for sorting all my problems out and enabling me to walk. God bless.

My mum was on an assessment bed at Goldenhill. The staff were so kind even though my mum wasn't. When she demanded to use the swimming pool, thinking she was in a hotel, one particularly ingenious member of staff, took the opportunity to get my mother to wash by creating a fake sauna. The staff are
unfailingly kind and that's what matters. Don't be blindsided by facilities when choosing a care home. Have a look at Goldenhill's activities on social media. They had a llama visit while Mum was there, and yes, the llamas were in the residential lounge. So you might not get fountains at Goldenhill, but you do get fun and stimulation.

My dad aged 89 had sadly suffered the last eight years of his life with Alzheimer’s. He was transferred from hospital to Goldenview Care Home where he received wonderful care on what turned out to be the last eight weeks of his life, due to the difficult advanced stage of his Alzheimer’s. It’s a well
run, safe, clean, nice bedroom, good food and wonderful staff who genuinely care and love the residents. As a family visiting they looked after us too, drinks, chairs, fans, nothing was ever too much trouble. My dad was kept clean, well shaven and nicely dressed every day he was there. Their patience and dedication with the residents was second to none, well done to each and every one of you. As a family this has been a heartbreaking and very difficult time for us all, but we would like to thank you all at Goldenview for helping us along the way during this difficult journey and for your love and support shown to dad and us right up to when he peacefully passed away last week. Love to you all.
