Wellburn House Care Centre

from A W (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Wellburn House was mums home for five years and the care she received was wonderful. All of the staff have been kind, caring, helpful, professional, supportive and cheerful. They knew her well and despite some challenging times, they enabled mum to live her best possible life while she was there. And
she always said how good the food was! Thank you to everyone at Wellburn House.

I have been in residence at Dene Park House for just over one year. During that time I have always been looked after most satisfactory as regards health and well being. I have always said since arriving here that I really like it here and would quite happily stay here until I die. "Enough said"

Frindsbury Hall Nursing Home

from D T (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I made an enquiry about bringing in my daughter's dog to the home so my dad could see her and I was instantly given an answer of yes and that they really liked animals to come in. Every time I ask for anything from the staff they get it sorted or find out an answer immediately. They never make me feel
like I am asking too much and are always so very kind in their approach to me and my dad and family. The longer my dad is in the home the more we feel like the staff are an extension of our family.

Food and drink- Food is not always up to standard, for example, cheap cuts of meat. Friday fish is in a roll? With a small amount of flakey fish.
Activities- Two members of staff work really hard but not many residents take part. There isn't an activity every day. Suggest a singer/magician/dancer
etc. for a change.
Value for money- Quality of food and lack of regular activities are letting the home down. Do activities have enough budget and input?

I find the staff excellent. Hard-working, caring and understanding. The room my husband is in is rather small, but they are probably all the same, more or less. It would be improved with fresh paint on the wall from the door to the bathroom. Also, the carpet is grubby. The staff say it is harder pushing
wheelchairs etc. on the carpet than it would be if the floor was laminate for example. However, taken as a whole, I think the home is very good.

Westerleigh Residential Home

from J D (Sister of Resident) published on 27 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

On visiting the home you are always greeted by the friendly staff and are immediately impressed by the sparkling cleanliness of the home on entering it. All of the staff are very approachable and do their very best to find lost clothing and spectacles which my sister often loses. I am given regular
phone calls and updates and regularly asked if there are any provblems I'd like to discuss. My sister can be very difficlt on occaions but is always treated with respect and especually understanding. I could recommend this home to anyone who has a loved one who requires permanent care. They will be very well looked after.

I have been living at Frindsbury Hall for nearly four years, I am from another country so was a bit anxious. The day I came my dad passed away I was given comfort and support from all. I am very happy living here, everyone is so kind to me and help when needed. The manager supports same football team
as me , we get on very well, we have a chat every morning. I enjoy the home cooked food and always join in with all the activities daily, I have made many friends here, I feel like we are one big family, my room is lovely I even have my own fish tank, coffee machine.

I've visited my mother's partner 4-5 times over the last couple of months, and we're very pleased that he's where he is.
He's eating more than he ever would at home or in hospital, the staff all know him by name and are very attentive to him, and he's always warm and comfortable when we arrive and
leave.

My partner was transferred to Canterbury House after a few months in hospital - at first, I was anxious as it is not close to where we live and I don't drive. However, the care given far outweighs any misgivings I have had. The staff at Canterbury House are extremely caring and nothing is too much trouble.
The food is good and varied and there is always friendly interaction with all staff. Residents are always clean and have regular haircuts, eye tests and other treatments if wanted.

Wordsworth House

from Louise D (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I was genuinely impressed and deeply moved by the care at Wordsworth House. I was apprehensive about my mother going into a home, but the staff exceeded all my hopes. They weren't just hardworking and professional-they brought kindness, patience, and even humour, making an immense difference. With 24/7
access, I visited at all hours and always saw genuine care. The staff truly valued the residents, creating a warm and compassionate environment. When my mother sadly passed away, their support was exceptional. They handled everything with such understanding, knowing exactly how to comfort each of us. I am profoundly grateful I chose Wordsworth House. The kindness, humour, and dedication of the staff made a difficult time so much easier, and I cannot thank them enough.

Mum is settled there. The staff/management are really good with her, even on her challenging days. Quality of the bedroom furniture is poor and her clothes often do not end up back in her room from laundry. It is difficult in a nursing home to get the balance right - but as mum does not suffer with
dementia, I feel that she could be doing more activities/exercise. She often wants to go in the garden (in Summer) but they are not allowed.

Absolute disgraceful place. The deputy manager is nothing but a disgraceful human, she's no empathy or any skills whatsoever when it comes to speaking with visitors, or anyone as it happens. I witnessed her shouting at nurses from another facility, who were coming to remove my mam to a safer care facility.
Gave my mam sedatives without any doctors knowledge, left her slumped in a chair on my visit. My mother's first words to me were "I feel punch drunk". She could barely stand up. DOLS informed me of this issue (probably illegal). I'll find out after our family solicitor carries out their investigation. They only shower the patients twice a week, not great when they are mostly wearing nappies. On one occasion my mother was wearing trousers and a skirt, not great practices especially when hygiene priority is almost none existing. Residents left many times day after day in the same clothes with food stains etc on them. Stay well clear of this facility if you value your loved ones.
