Parkside Residential Home

from Linda T (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father went to Parkside three years ago after he was devastated by Covid. He was no longer able to walk and was in a very confused state. We were initially unable to visit due to Covid restrictions but were kept informed of his condition by the staff. When restrictions were eased and we were able
to visit and actually meet the staff they were all very kind and always told us stories of how Dad was doing. Fortunately, Covid abated and we were able to visit normally. Dad was always well-turned out, happy and well fed. He often said how much he enjoyed his meals. As he deteriorated we could see how hard the staff worked to keep him happy and comfortable. He developed great relationships with them and was clearly content with his life there. I would wholeheartedly recommend Parkside as a happy, compassionate and safe place. I’m glad we chose them to take care of Dad.

Southway Residential Home

The manager and all staff I have met have a wonderful with empathy and ability to understand residents' needs, which are many and varied. The respect for individuals' preferences and needs are met with understanding and good humour. I am always welcome when I visit. I am fully informed promptly on any
issues or health problems. I have full confidence and trust in the knowledge that my husband is safe, well nourished, and kept hygienic. He is encouraged and takes part in many varied activities on offer. I would recommend Southway without hesitation.

Parkside Residential Home

I have been in the care home many months, and would definitely rename it 'Parkview', a care home of outstanding, care and compassion, excellent food, spotlessly clean, and an aura of peace throughout, The staff I have to mention, always a smile and nothing is too much trouble, and the manager and assistant
again have made it a home of great joy,
As for me, 76, ex-Royal Navy many years ago where I got asbestosis, my thoughts when told I must go into a care home, terrified, thoughts of stale urine, and more. NoNoNo, excellent in every way, I look forward to every day here and am very happy and content.

Puttenhoe Residential Home

from Jeanie R (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 July 2017

I wrote a review last year when my Mother first went into this care home. She has been here almost a year and she is well cared for, looked after and I have no concerns or worries about her. She's happy, always cheerful and absolutely loves the carers. Only a slight concern I have is she doesn't appear
to have Dementia as bad as the other residents so she only communicates with us her family who visit daily and the carers and other residential visitors she gets on very well with, I just wish there was someone that she could actually be more friendly with who also lives there. The other residents don't seem to communicate with her, she did make a friend who was only there for respite for a few months but has gone into another home permanently as there was not enough room for her to stay. I just hope she can return when there is a room available.

My partner has now been at Southways Bedford coming up for 2 years.
All the staff and office workers including managers are very understanding and lovely to everybody.
I have been there various times of the day and is always clean and beds made etc.
The staff make you feel welcome and will aways
have a chat to you.
I feel at ease leaving my partner there under there care as this was a difficult time in my life.

A wonderful caring home. The staff are friendly and conscientious. My mother was looked after with loving care. The rooms were ample and each small unit had its own lounge and dining room. Perfect for those like my mother who do not like large, busy, noisy dining rooms.
They celebrated birthdays and
Christmas involving everyone including the relatives.
They have music and crafts. Manicures and a lovely hairdresser in house.
Visits, parties and trips out to the river. Nothing was too much trouble.
I cannot recommend this home enough.
