Compton Lodge is an Edwardian House with scenic surroundings, lovingly converted in a modern care environment that also supports independent living.

The focus is on an ‘Out Not In’ approach that looks holistically at both mind and body acknowledging that engagement with society and nature is key to experiencing life. It uses everyday events to stimulate and maintain cognitive function and uses retained conditioned behaviour as a tool to encourage engagement and reduce anxiety.

A personalised service conducted in a friendly and professional manner, Compton Lodge has regular residents' meetings in order to bring up any concerns, while carers also respect the perspective of visiting loved ones.

Assisted bathrooms help residents with mobility issues, while the home has CCTV for added security, a garden lounge and its own hairdressing/chiropody rooms.

Compton Lodge provides a consistently secure home. There is structure to the day and the carers display eternal cheerfulness and are always available. The garden is a huge advantage for residents and during the pandemic the garden pod has been a genuinely welcoming place for visitors. Perhaps the food
could be better but knowledge of other care homes is not available. Overall, our resident is particularly happy in this welcoming place.

Many thanks for your kind review, and we are so pleased we are able to meet your expectations. We always encourage feedback, particularly if there is anything we can look to improve. As you may be aware, we change our menus every four weeks and pride ourselves on a wide range of options including vegetarian, special diets, light and large options. We do take time to understand our residents' varying tastes and ensure dietary requirements are catered for. We organise meetings between our chefs and residents to discuss the menus. Compton Lodge has been a wonderful Home for Dad for 2 years.
Carers are warm and loving with residents. Dad has the reassurance of being able to speak Italian (his first language) with one of the fabulous carers.
Dad enjoys the garden, drawing and music therapy. He consumes every morsel of the nourishing
food put in front of him.
When Dad first moved in, he had pre-existing issues. The home manager, management and carers have gone out of their way to work with the family to solve these. This has dramatically improved Dad’s quality of life.
During the pandemic the home has been totally safe. Carers and residents are regularly tested. Infection control is of the highest level.
Relatives can easily maintain contact with residents via phone, Skype and FaceTime. Socially distanced, PPE visits allow for in-person contact.
Compton Lodge is a safe and loving home.
My last 3 words - so much gratitude.

My father has been very happy since he moved to Compton Lodge. When he first saw the house he was delighted with its quirky atmosphere and settled in very quickly. Dad's room is really nice and he has all the amenities he needs, ready to hand. The garden and break out rooms provide peaceful places
to sit and snooze, when he does not want to be in the main room with all its hustle and bustle.
The staff are very caring and some will put in the extra effort to spend a little quality time with him, despite being very busy, each day. It has been tough during the pandemic and the residents have not been getting all the activities that they usually have, which keeps them stimulated. I hope that these can be resumed as soon as possible. In the meantime, the staff have been doing their best to keep everyone amused and well cared for. I can't thank them enough for their dedication.

Compton Lodge is a wonderful warm, welcoming and caring homely care home, set in a beautiful spacious house with a fantastic garden.
Carers are very friendly, loving and kind. Dad is treated with warmth, kindness, respect and dignity. Staff are attentive, well trained and highly skilled, gently redirecting
dad when he is restless. Carers are fully aware of dad's needs and his routine including his likes and dislikes!
Dad speaks positively about the staff saying “very nice ladies around here”.
Management is outstanding whilst consistently keeping us informed about dad.
Compton Lodge Manager is friendly, reliable and responsive with family emails. In addition has navigated the Covid pandemic keeping the home safe. Phone, Skype and FaceTime options are available to allow us to remain in contact with dad during lockdown. This is comforting for dad and family. We also receive regular colourful newsletters about life at Compton Lodge.
Dad is very fortunate to live in such a friendly comfortable home.

My friend has been a resident at Compton Lodge for the last four years and throughout that time there has been a marked improvement in his physical and mental condition, no doubt a result of the good care he is receiving. Compton Lodge is homely and doesn't have an atmosphere of an institution with
a lovely garden for residents to take advantage of. The staff are very friendly and communicative, I would recommend it to anyone.

Compton Lodge is a decent, solid care home. The staff are lovely and know the residents individually. It feels more like an actual 'home' than an institution, with rooms reflecting individual residents' tastes and possessions. The home has been under new management since spring/summer 2018 (new manager
in place) and things are now improving as a result: management response to all questions/problems is prompt and helpful. There is a friendly atmosphere in the home and visits are welcomed at any time of day. Food (choices and delivery) could be improved and cleanliness also but overall very happy with the care.

Compton Lodge is an excellent Home, with very caring and committed staff, whose love and support has made a huge difference to the resident. The room (especially after the move), management, safety, medical care, information etc have all been of a high order. Mum complains about the food, but this could
be a general loss of appetite and taste! The one area we feel could be modernised is with a more varied physical program (a small gym, even personal training, suitable yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, massage, physio and neuro-physio, more dance etc - all possible - and swimming sessions. With the nearby leisure centre, this should also be possible); hence to encourage a more active environment and community. There is a best selling book which has shown how activity and “well being” go hand in hand! The price of such a program should be offset by improvements in health and fitness!

We're twelve thousand miles away in NZ and find communication can be tricky, but when we do need to catch up with someone they are always happy to liaise with us. We are now making weekly phone calls to monitor the condition of our relative and find the staff happy to bring us up to date.

My sister and I find the care at Compton Lodge is exceptional.


Following our mother's recent stay in the hospital, they could not have been more helpful in putting the necessary care in place for her.


The carers are without exception a professional, caring, and kind team.

Your staff are life-enhancing. The affection they show to the residents is very moving.
My only criticism is that there could be more pastimes arranged eg books on tape, classical music/cd sessions and targeted tv eg DVDs rather than the dire all day tv that is on in the main sitting room.

Compton Lodge is an outstanding care home with staff who are both compassionate and efficient. The fact there is such a low staff turnover is an indication of how well the home is managed. There is a beautiful garden, so residents can go for short walks without leaving the premises. There are also three
reception rooms which mean the residents can have time alone with visiting family and friends.
A GP visits once a week and there is effective support from district nurses.
Activities are limited but there is an excellent art club and a music afternoon. There are regular visits from choirs and other community groups, as well as parties marking important days in the calendar.

Our stepfather has been at Compton Lodge for a year and is settled and content. We chose this home out of 6 North London care homes visited, as it has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, in a lovely building, which does not feel institutional. The Edwardian house retains its charm while meeting the
needs of the elderly residents. There's a large, attractive garden and three nice lounges.


Our stepfather enjoys the weekly art and music classes, run by fantastic professionals. There are also church services, and a Friday social evening, run by friends of the home.


Compton Lodge has a stable senior management team, and low staff turnover, with little need for agency staff. Staff are committed and caring, and ready to talk to relatives and review care plans. Friends and family can visit at any time, and are made welcome. There is parking on the doorstep for several cars.


Compton Lodge was given a "good" rating at the last CQC assessment.

This care home is exceptional. Of many it was the only one that did not feel institutional. It is in a beautiful Edwardian house with the feel of a country hotel. There is a garden for residents and my mother is in a comfortable decent sized room with ensuite facilities.


The home's management

and carers are superb. There is a sense of continuity, low staff turnover and a family feel. My mother has been happy throughout her long stay - she had top quality care, is always well dressed and clean, and has been encouraged to take part in activities varying over time - art, gardening, computer, music, yoga, singing sessions with regular celebrations including BBQs, summer fairs, Christmas concerts and parties.


The management listen and respond. There are regular consultative meetings for relatives/friends and every opportunity to shape the running of the home and resident management. Relatives are very positive and in the last CQC assessment it was given a 'Good' rating.

I only see one lunchtime. The food is not always served hot. There is no alternative to mushy peas. Activities are very sparse, only art and music, which are frequently cancelled. There is a marked lack of information to residents. Toilets are not always clean, rooms are not secure, but I realise why.
The staff are pleasant and helpful.

Robert has worked in care since 2005 and has experience in different roles within the industry. He is passionate about providing exceptional person-centred care for residents using the C&C services and the guidance and assistance of the rest of his care team.


Robert has worked for C&C since 2013, with his first role being at C&C's Homemade care home, where he developed his managerial and leadership skills.


He currently holds a QCF Diploma Level 5 in Health and Social Care.
