"Before moving to the UK, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) working as a staff nurse for three years in an Emergency Care Unit, in New Delhi, India.
I came to the UK in 2007, initially to study for an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, as part of understanding both the social and medical care provided in the UK.
Whilst a student I initially worked as a Nursing Assistant on a medical ward in an NHS hospital to provide me with the practical experience needed to complete my coursework.
I was fortunate to be able to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, initially as a Senior Care Assistant at Springview, their care home in Enfield.
As I developed my skills, knowledge and exposure to the care home environment, I was promoted to Team Leader, then an opportunity became available to become an Assistant Manager at Spring Grove, Hampstead and then in 2018 became Home Manager.
Although I did not register as a nurse in the UK, the professionalism and clinical knowledge that I was exposed to as a nurse have helped me to be where I am today. By completing my Diploma in Leadership and Management and working my way up to Home Manager, I feel that I have the necessary skills to lead the team and provide high-quality person-centred care to residents."

“I was late joining the nursing profession and after a career in chemical manufacturing/processing, I decided to retrain as a registered nurse.
During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.
In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.
Although I enjoyed my time in a hospital ward, I missed the ‘community’ within a care home and decided to devote my career to supporting people who live in care homes, joining Springdene Group in 2014.
