Dreary, tired, old and dull furniture and environment in the room my father was in. No soap available for hand cleaning which, considering my dad had an infection similar to MRSA, should have been a MUST, as well as aprons and gloves, which also were not available to use whilst visiting. I do not
feel he received the care he deserved and, as he was stuck at the end of a corridor, I believe he was left for too long without being checked. I have logged a complaint with the CQC regarding more worrying issues that occurred during his very short stay.

My father was a resident originally for palliative care from December 2018 until 24th July 2019 when he passed away.
I think the reason Dad's prognosis improved was due to the outstanding care from the Abbey nurses and carers who cared with compassion, professionalism but from the heart.
I will be
eternally grateful to them who made life for him and us, his family, so bearable.

My aunt always looked well cared for. Always dressed nicely in clean clothes and hair done by hairdresser every other week. Staff kind and friendly and patient. Plenty of activities with music, sometimes live, garden parties and trips out and Christmas party. I was always made to feel very welcome when
visiting. End of life care superb. Living so far away it was a Godsend knowing my Aunt was being well cared for.

My cousin had lived at Abbey Ravenscroft Park since August 2015. She suffered from advanced dementia and was wholly dependant on her carers. She passed away on 6 March 2019. I felt that my cousin received excellent care throughout her stay. I found the atmosphere in the nursing home to be friendly and
relaxed and I always felt I could talk openly to management and staff about my cousin. The staff were most helpful in the hours and days immediately after the death. They were professional and sympathetic throughout.

My Aunt was in the home for 2 1/2 years until she died. At all times her care was kind, dignified and considerate of her needs. Any questions I had on her behalf were answered promptly. Staff seem to go above and beyond to make sure residents are as happy as they can be.

My dad was a former resident for 18 months and my mum is currently a resident. I have found the home to be very caring and supportive in meeting the needs of both mum and dad.
The home provides a lovely environment and gives opportunities for residents to experience outings and entertainment in the
premises.
The staff have made the transition from mum’s own home to the nursing home stress-free and we are so happy with how well our mother has settled in.

When my husband first came to Ravenscroft Park Nursing Home we were both very apprehensive, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how the home supplied all the needs (however diverse) the residents had. All the staff are kind, considerate and caring. Their food is varied and satisfying and the bedrooms
are large, airy and clean. Standards everywhere are extremely good!

Fairly comfortable and the care is good. The time keeping is not so good at times e.g breakfast waiting at the table before being served.

Generally, I visit every day and feed my wife at lunchtime or supper time. I stay until she is in bed. I normally leave about 6.30pm. My wife neither talks nor walks but I am sure that she knows who I am. She is always compliant with instructions from staff and always appears content. This means that
from time to time if I cannot visit I am confident that my wife's treatment will be good.

A friendly home with caring staff. Always on hand to reassure and explain situations. Abbey Ravenscroft Park Nursing Home gave me confidence in the care and the friendship that they offered my mother who incidentally was very difficult to please. I was extremely impressed with their care plan and the
great patience that they showed in administering medication and encouragement to try to get my mother to eat. Last but not least a very lovely garden with squirrels and birds to divert agitated residents enabling them to behave in a calmer manner.

My mother became very frail and the carers and nursing staff were careful to treat her gently and considerately. Whilst she was still able to respond they interacted with her keeping her informed about the football team she supported.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.764)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.764) out of 10 for Abbey Ravenscroft Park Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.451 for Abbey Ravenscroft Park Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.451

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.313 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Ravenscroft Park Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 registered maximum number of service users is 15.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.6 = 0.513

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
