5-star food selection. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all dietary needs. Soon after a new person arrives at the home, staff discuss personal preferences and dietary requirements.

Accommodation includes en-suite bedrooms, spacious interiors and landscaped gardens. People living at Alexander House are welcome to personalise rooms to maximise the feeling of belonging.

A beautiful garden is easily accessible to the people who live at the home, always encouraging the residents to live an active and independent life as possible.

The home achieves this by creating a mix of activities such as yoga, gardening, cinema, arts and crafts, chair exercises, bingo, organising a packed calendar of events and occasions.

Alexander House is so much more than a care home. It is a real home. My mum moved in 2019 and has now lived there very happily for over 18 months. She is very well cared for and really enjoys life. The staff take the time to get to know each of the residents and provide the care and support each of
them needs. There is a wide range of activities which residents have the option to join in with and my Mum loves to join the church services and music in particular. The food is excellent and choices are always offered. I particularly appreciate always feeling very welcome and included in her care. I'm not treated as 'a visitor' but as part of the home community which means I don't think of Alexander House as an 'institution' but as my mum's home. All the staff have gone the extra mile to pull together during the pandemic and have done everything they can to keep the residents safe. I'm so grateful that my mum has been so well looked after during this difficult time.

Our church organises services and visits once a month, either face to face or online. As an example, we did socially distanced carol singing from the car park recently.
A number of our team have had parents living in the home, so we have a particular affinity with Alex House.
We so enjoy the opportunities,
as do the residents and staff. Their organisation of us is great, and once we’ve had the service, we all enjoy the tea, cake and chat that follows!

I would very highly recommend Alexander House to anyone looking for a care home with staff who genuinely care for their residents. My mother moved to Alexander House from her seaside home. Gradually she not only settled in well but also became genuinely happy here. It feels like a proper home, not
an "institution", and most importantly, she could not have asked for kinder carers. The main reception rooms have now been very tastefully refurbished, with lovely new curtains and furniture, and the beautiful Victorian plasterwork on the ceilings has been retained, so the house has an air of grandeur. It has a peaceful conservatory overlooking the garden, which is one of Alexander House's major assets. It is amazingly quiet for a garden in London and is well stocked with mature plants and impressive trees. My mother's room was small but had the advantage of overlooking a superb magnolia tree in this garden. The home has a good car park too.

Alexander House in Wimbledon has become my dear old mum's home during the last year, after moving from her previous home town on the South Coast. My sister and I spent considerable time discussing the best way forward and reviewing care homes in the areas near to our own respective homes.
We were
initially impressed with Alexander House, and long-term experience has proved that we made the right choice. We are delighted to have found a truly caring environment for Mum, where she is clearly valued as a person, and the staff are without exception dedicated to their job.
I often join my mother for lunch, and can vouch that the food is invariably pretty good! Hopefully, there may be a vacant space for me in about 25 years time!
I would, without any reservation, recommend Alexander House as a fine example of how a care home should be run.

I continue to be impressed with Alexander House Wimbledon. The staff have been extremely helpful, especially when mum's care needs changed recently and Alexander House agreed to move mum to a better room and increased the 1:1 care to accommodate my mums changing condition. I have come into contact with Alexander House through my partner's Mother who has lived there for nearly 3 years. I always think of Alexander House as a family home, not a care home, where residents are treated with utter respect and dignity, and as individuals with a valid place in society. This
is as it should be but not always the case given my own experience of a family member living in a care home towards the end of her life. What singles out Alexander House as a wonderful place is their staff who are utterly professional but also kind - they are simply brilliant. The home is fun, where activities abound, and where the residents are stimulated. If you are looking for a home for your relative rather than an impersonal care home, then this is the one for you, with bells on!

My mother has been living at the care home for fifteen months. She has Alzheimer's dementia and practically no short term memory but takes an interest in her family and in the world. We appreciate that the staff are trained to understand her condition and that they are caring towards her. They also
give support to help her to participate in activities. These are of both social and cognitive value for her. I have arrived in the lounge several times to find her visibly if quietly, interested in and enjoying an activity such as a quiz. The nature of the questions, prompting memories, and the conversation around them gain her attention. The visiting singing groups are also excellent. My mother appreciates the garden too and I gather that she enjoyed a visit to a garden centre last year. The food is good at the care home and she now eats with more appetite since becoming a resident.

A very comfortable, well presented and welcoming home. My mother has Alzheimer's and is very well cared for. The staff are kind and professional with good communication skills. The location is exceptional, easy access to the common, park and village, great for walks out. Relatives are listened to and

My Mum has been at Alexander House for 2 and a half years. I feel extremely lucky to have found such a lovely place for my Mum. She is very happy here and we, her family, are also very pleased with the care she receives. I knew as soon as I walked into Alexander House it would be the right place for
my Mum. It is more like a home than a Home, with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, photos of residents on the walls, and a general happy feel about the place. Mum's needs have changed quite considerably since she has been here, but this has been met with intelligent and thoughtful care reviews with Mum's happiness and health always at the forefront of any care plans. It is a small home with only 20 residents which really helps provide more a family feel, there are daily activities which try and meet all the resident's different interests and capabilities, including yoga, gardening club, music, art, quizzes etc. I would definitely recommend Alexander House.

Have always been pleased with the care my mother receives. She is treated with dignity and respect and, although she has Alziemers, is still encouraged to engage in activities and choices. The home is like a "home" and we as family, are always welcomed whatever time we go in and we can take mum to her
room or stay downstairs. If we want to take her out she is always made ready as we have asked in advanced. Any concerns are always listened to by management and staff and we are kept informed. Likewise, if staff have concerns, they will speak with us. Her key worker knows her well and has a good relationship with her and us. The home also has a beautiful garden which is well utilised in the warmer weather. We are very happy with Alexander House.

My sister and I chose Alexander House for mum because of the lovely sense of belonging they give to their residents and families of residents. Also, the level of care and support is always of a high standard. The home is clean, bright, safe and also has a beautiful garden. There's always something going
on, such as arts and crafts, flower arranging, even occasional cookery classes. My mum thinks she is in a hotel and is very contented. Although mum has Alzheimer's disease and can be quite hard to handle, she is always treated with patience and dignity. We're every happy with her care and are so glad we can feel at ease knowing mum is being looked after so well.

My mother-in law has been living at Alexander House since leaving hospital after a heart attack last December. She has vascular dementia. Her physical condition has improved with the care given her during the last six months.She is contented. We witness patience and kindness from staff whenever we
visit. There is a positive, happy atmosphere of being in a home, in the best sense of the word. Staff know their patients and work well as a team towards keeping residents happy.
We are confident that we have chosen a home we would be happy to stay in ourselves, were we in similar circumstances.

I have over 15 years' experience working in the care sector, starting in domiciliary care before moving into residential care. I realised that I enjoyed this type of work, and felt great satisfaction whenever I left work for the day.


I did my NVQ Level 3, and was then appointed Team Leader, before Clinical Lead. I wanted to grow more, so when the opportunity came for me to study at Level 5, I was so happy. In 2021, I became Care Manager which provided me with further opportunities.


Now I am at Keychange, I am hoping to make a change at Alexander House. It is a great place to work, staff are eager to learn, and it is not just a job for them. I had a great mentor (still do), and she empowered me, and my greatest wish is that I will be able to empower the staff here, enabling them to reach their potential.


I want to be a good leader encouraging staff growth, the independence of our residents and hopefully building relationships with the wider community.
