My father has been in Alexander Care Home since April 2022, initially, he entered the home on respite but we were so happy with the care he was receiving that we decided it was in his best interest to remain at Alexander House. All the staff are so caring and attentive to my father's needs. It was a
very hard decision for my father to go into a home and they have been so helpful with the process to make it easier for us. The staff treat my father with respect and dignity and I couldn’t be happier with the care. They give lots of feedback and have regular contact with us. The care home is homely, clean, and in a lovely location. The garden is big, beautiful and relaxing. All my father's medical needs are cared for and activities. The manager and his team are amazing! I know my father is cared for and they genuinely love the residents. Thank you!

My dad has been at Alexander House for the past one and a half years. The staff are always very friendly and show great care and consideration with him. They keep in regular contact with any updates and issues. He is very happy and settled here.

My 96-year-old aunt has been a resident at Alexander House for the past five months and I visit her weekly and am always impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. More importantly though, is that my aunt is definitely looking much healthier and happier now that she has 24/7 care.
Sadly my aunt is bed-bound but her room is always spotlessly clean and very cheery. She receives a daily newspaper and regularly has her hair done, small things which give her a better quality of life. Although she can't join in all the activities, I know the staff try to include her in most things. I am so pleased we managed to find her a room at Alexander House.

Rao Ali

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

Dr Rao Ali is a qualified medical doctor (MD since 2003), specialised in Dermatology (2007). Dr Ali has 16 years extensive experience in medicine, working in different settings abroad and in the UK, including hospitals, GP surgery and care sector, and also worked in different international charities through World Health Organisation (WHO).


Dr Ali opted out from National Health Services and joined in Health and Social Care in 2014 as he served his father as his carer. Dr Ali believes the time when he provided care for his father enlightened the importance of care for vulnerable in Health and Social Care. His background in medicine is a very effective channel in understanding the health and medical conditions of vulnerable, and provision of care when it is needed the most.


Dr Ali started in Health and Social Care as a carer, despite being a qualified doctor to have in depth knowledge of care in care homes. Dr Ali has gained intensive experiences through working in health and social care in different positions, including Clinical Lead to Quality Assurance Manager and as a Registered Manager. Dr Ali has completed his profession qualification of NVQ Level 5 Diploma and ILM NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care.


Dr Ali is a strong believer of team work, and empowering staff and maintaining the transparency at all stages of care provision as a manager. Dr Ali has up-to-date knowledge and profound base of understanding of laws and regulations practiced in UK and abroad. Dr Ali joined in Alexander House in October 2021 as Registered Home Manager, Dr Ali believes that caring with the service user at Alexander House is imperative for their well-beings.


Dr Ali strongly believe we are not caring for the residents but we are caring with them.

Giorgiana’s journey at Alexander House Care Home is an example for all those who are working in the Health and Social Care sector. It is easy to achieve and progress when you are on the same track in the same field but if someone goes the extra mile despite all the barriers in the way and reaches the peak that is called achievement. Giorgiana is one of them who crossed all the barriers, gained knowledge, proved to be compassionate, dedicated and always showed the willingness to progress and learn.


Giorgiana joined our Alexander House Care Home in 2021 as a trainee housekeeper. She was struggling at the beginning with language barriers as she only knew basic English and was not aware of the system at all. Giorgiana’s eagerness and commitment to progress, let her to become not only a competent housekeeper but a head of housekeeping within 6 months.


She spent extra time learning English and the system voluntarily attended training internally and contributed immensely to gaining a good rating for IPC in CQC inspection. It was the early days when the pandemic Covid-19 was subsiding and infection control was a hot topic all over the world, especially in the health and social care sector. Her dedication to controlling infection at Alexander House Care Home prevented all the service users and the home from being infection-free. Giorgiana also trained the newly recruited housekeeping staff and embedded the legacy of cleanliness and an infection-free environment at Alexander House Care Home.


Giorgiana’s compassion and commitment to the care of our service users, enlightened the management about her hidden abilities and potential to be an excellent care staff. Giorgiana started her career in care just 8 months after working as a housekeeper and left no stone unturned to prove that she could be a good carer. She committed herself to learning, sharing, and developing the skills laboriously. She was nominated on serval occasions as ‘The Champion of the Month’ by all staff, next of kin and the management.


Giorgiana flourished, progressed and equipped herself with all the knowledge and skills to be an exemplary team member in care. The management at Alexander House Care Home has no hesitation to say imperiously that if the care sector has a staff like Giorgiana, the services will never fall in the provision of care.


Nowadays, Giorgiana is working as a team leader and completed the course of leadership and management from South Thames College supported by SouthWest London NHS. Giorgiana is in the process of completing her NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care. Giorgiana’s short journey with long-standing barriers from Trainee housekeeper to team leader at Alexander House Care Home is compatible with any efforts made to achieve the goal in someone’s life.


It is a great honour that Giorgiana was selected as Best Carer in 2023 by the National Care Association. I am confident that her story and contributions to the field of care will resonate with the values and mission of all care workers.
