Mum arrived at Ashgrove in 2018. Sadly she passed away in December. Here are some genuine extracts, written and read out by me as part of her Eulogy:
By 2018, at 94, it was clear that Mum now needed full-time care and she moved into Ashgrove Care Home. This turned out to be a masterstroke.
For the
last 6 and a half years, thanks to everyone at Ashgrove, she has effectively been living life as if she'd won the lottery, wanting for nothing.
Their affection, dedication and generosity were perfectly demonstrated when Mum turned 100. They insisted on throwing a party, including food, drink, giant balloons and a personalised birthday cake. It was brilliant. Many of the off-duty staff also came along. The whole team deserve enormous credit for a day we'll never forget.

The care my mother received at Ashgrove was amazing, we are so thankful she spent her last months being treated like a princess by all the staff here.
The entertainment was great, they had someone come in for hair, nails and opticians. I would recommend Ashgrove to anybody who is looking for a care
home for their family members and will be forever grateful to all the staff here.

My mother needed to move from a Residential home to a Nursing care home which would suit her new needs. The home's manager and staff were very understanding and went above what was part of their role to ensure she was both comfortable and happy. They did not rush me and gave me confidence in the moving
process.
I was very happy with the location and the home.

Well looked after and pleasant and clean place would recommend to anybody for their loved ones to go. Very good management and staff very loving and caring to residents made my dad feel very welcome. Staff and management made me and my family members very welcome when visiting.

Mum stayed for 1 month respite care and we couldn't be happier with the care she received. Mum thrived in the environment at Ashgroves and enjoyed the company of the other residents. The staff were all lovely and couldn't be more helpful. We would definitely consider Ashgroves in the future if mum
needed to go into long term care and also for any future respite needs.

My mother became a resident in Ashgrove Care Home This year, 2023.
I can honestly say I’m so happy with my choice.
The home is so clean.
I can not fault the staff and management; they are all so caring and friendly, and I have regular updates with any changes to Mum's care.
I’m always made welcome
when visiting - coffee biscuits are offered.
But the main thing is my mother is so happy being at the home, always smiling and saying how much she likes... which after all is the main thing.

Mum entered into the care of Ashgrove Care Home in July 2022 after a fall and being in hospital. Initially, it was to be for 4/6 weeks but she settled in and Yvonne and I realised that going back to her flat was not going to happen. The staff from the beginning have treated her and us with utmost respect,
kindness and dedication. We were always kept informed of any issues and were confident of the care she was given.
Her dementia deteriorated gradually but she still had a sense of humour at times and was loved and she loved the staff. Sadly on the 13th of October 2023 she passed away, the care, attention and dedication by all staff was second to none and we thank everyone at Ashgrove for looking after “Our Mum.”

Our aunt is well taken care of. The home is always clean. The management and staff are always friendly and helpful whenever we visit. We're always informed if there are any changes in her treatment and care.

The management and staff are always welcoming and supportive. They take time to explain any issues with my aunt and always contact me to inform me of any concerns or changes. I usually see my aunt once a week and they off tea and biscuits to us the visitors as well. I have had no concerns as the management
team are very professional, polite and patient.
My aunt is always well presented, her clothes and her earrings are always on, her nails painted, hairdressers, as she was a wonderful woman that always looked after herself.
She is well cared for and they have entertainment in the home, school choirs etc. I’m very thankful to this care home and the support it has given me and my family in transitioning.

What can I say, from the moment I arrive I’m greeted by all the staff and welcomed into their care home. My visit is expected by them and my name is remembered which makes such a difference to know you and your time is valued by them. The home is always clean tidy and organised all residents are up-dressed
and happy.
The manager is always available to greet me and answer any questions and is extremely helpful if I need anything in her usual friendly manner.
The deputy manager is also available and ready to help in any way. The interaction between staff residents and visitors is excellent. I would be pleased for Ashgrove to care for one of my loved ones if needed.

I am very happy with the care, the staff are very easy to talk to and I very much enjoy their company. The food is good, and I get very varied options as I am very fussy with my food at times. My bedroom is one of the best in the home, a real luxury to have lovely patio doors which lead out to the garden
which I enjoy in the summer months. The location of the home is really good, as I have the library, shops and a lovely park only across the street, it is also good as the care home is halfway between my sons, so get to see them a lot. The home is very clean and tidy. The manager is lovely and is always smiling and happy to talk. The management is great at ensuring I have everything I need, I don’t want for anything!

I came to Ashgrove Care Home for care as I was no longer able to look after myself. The team, from the moment I arrived have been amazing. The staff are always around to help. The food is great, there is so much choice. My room is cleaned each day and kept so fresh. The Manager of the care home is brilliant,
she is always free to talk and really helpful with advice and has a caring nature and very knowledgeable. The deputy manager also is always on hand to encourage me, which is what I need!

My mum was at Ashgrove from March to May 2023. Mum has limited mobility and on top of that, she broke her collarbone joint. The staff at Ashgrove were very friendly and welcoming and attended to all of Mum’s needs. Her treatment was exceptionally caring and respectful and the staff monitored her on
a regular basis.
My dealings with management were very good and all my queries were dealt with efficiently and promptly.
In conclusion, my mum was very happy during her stay at Ashgrove. A big well done to all the staff. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident for only a short time at Ashgrove, however, I can honestly say the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They understand that this is new to all of us and are very understanding of the many questions we have thrown at them over the last few weeks. The home itself always
looks clean and tidy, there are always multiple staff on hand at any time, and the residents appear happy and well cared for. They have been extremely helpful in pointing us to the right place when we have queries. They have a hairdresser, a Chiropodist and a nail technician who visit regularly and these make the residents feel pampered. My mum seems to have made some friends, and each time we visit she is always sitting with one of them. They are happy for the family to visit at any time that suits us. Thank you to all the staff that care for the residents.

Although relatively new to this home I have found the staff to be caring and will give you the ability to have some privacy in the lounge area during our visit so that I, and my father, can be with Mum. They have also been happy to loan the use of a wheelchair so that I can take Mum to either a nearby
manor house and gardens, or the green space by the theatre where we can enjoy the recent good weather and have an ice cream from the supermarket. The home appears clean and Mum's anxiety, where she scratches her arms, has not flared up. This helps me believe that she is settling in and gives me hope that she will be OK here. Management have taken the time to confirm my request and update me on when an optician will visit Mum so she can have a new pair of glasses too which is nice.

Had a struggle with the council to get Mum back into Ashgrove, which is where she had respite. The previous home she was in was doing her no good amongst other problems we had there. Since Mum's been in Ashgrove we’ve noticed a significant change for the good. She’s definitely happier there and being
well cared for. It’s the little things that are noticed like her nails being painted. I’d just like to thank all the staff for caring even though Mum can be hard work. Thanks.

My mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease was in the home from August 2020 until her death on 6 June 2022. My father joined her in March 2021 and continues to live there. My father is 91 and has many medical conditions but is of sound mind. This gave staff the difficult task of balancing both
their needs and allowing them to spend time together without Dad suffering from the stress caused by Mum's condition. It was never going to be perfect but they have both been treated with care and respect. In the period leading up to Mum's death, the staff at Ashgrove Care Home have been fantastic, giving my Dad so much support. OK, it may not be the slickest or glitziest care home in the area, and there have been problems caused by the pandemic and the sector-wide staffing issues but there is a feeling that the staff genuinely care for the residents on a personal level, which is much more important.

I visited Dad and was able to take him out in a wheelchair loaned to me by the care home. He was happy and is obviously being well looked after. When we returned, Dad was greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner and the staff chatted to him about where we had been. He seems to have settled in well
and on the occasions that I have visited him, he is always happy and seems to have everything he needs. All the staff I have come into contact with at the home have been very helpful.

The staff are kind, fun-loving, patient, encouraging, and supportive which is paramount when the ones you love are in their care. Grandad has lived in Ashgrove for 7 years. The staff care for, talk to, and treat him as though he was a member of their own family. The trust he has in them is clear to
see. Sadly, his deteriorating health has meant that additional adult social and medical care services are needed. Although appointment delays are outside of Ashgrove's control, the persistency is there to ensure the care is chased up and obtained. One particular staff member is my rock! Things do (rarely) go wrong however within Ashgrove. How the situations are handled, through to resolution is of the same level of importance to families as the care. For this reason, I've given an overall score of "good". The managerial aspect of the care home has deteriorated in my opinion, often with a lack of common sense and accountability at the forefront of the individual issues I've personally faced.
