Elmstead is a 40-bedded residential home which includes a 12 bedded safe environment for residential dementia care, welcoming both long and short-term stays.

The home has good transport links with a regular bus route going to Bromley and Eltham stopping directly outside the home, local train station going into London only a short walk away and, not to mention easy access to the A20.

Elmstead has four comfortable lounges that are ideal for socialising, relaxing or welcoming visitors. Other facilities include an onsite hairdressing salon and well-maintained gardens that include spacious patio areas, summer house and pond. The home also has visiting chiropodists, opticians and dentists (arrangement by appointment when needed).

The chef takes a personal approach to diet, and meals are catered to individual tastes. There are always cold snacks and alternatives available throughout the day.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests.

Having its own large activities room and dedicated activities team, allows Elmstead to offer a seven-day activities programme. From weekly breakfast club, baking clubs, live entertainment, school half-term family days which involve children from the local community, craft mornings with the local nursery, movement to music and visiting animals to name a few, there is always something going on.

I have nothing but praise for the staff working at Elmstead Care Home because they really do care and the feeling in the home whenever a visit is made, is of a caring family.
Many of them have worked together for several years and some members have left to further their careers, but have returned because
they enjoyed so much caring for the residents and their colleagues. Although it is not a dementia home, in my opinion, there are a high number of residents who are in different stages of senility/dementia and the staff make every effort to understand the needs of each resident. Generally, the atmosphere is of a laid back happy group of residents and staff alike, getting on with each other and residents being allowed to do what they want, within reason.

My friend has been at Elmstead for the last 3 months. He had never been to a care home before. I was apprehensive to start with, however, he connected so well with the staff, even at his assessment and when he got to the home the staff settled him in so well. On visiting him he not only looked 5 years
younger, clean, tidy, well-groomed and happy. He loves the food and was mixing with other residents and activities. During the last 8 weeks, my contact has been through the staff who have been fantastic. It is the best for him and his family and myself we cannot thank them enough.

My mother has been in Elmstead Care Home for almost a year and is very happy. The carers are wonderful and I have peace of mind knowing that my mum is in good hands. During the Covid Pandemic they have arranged for me to video call my mum regularly and keep me updated with photos and videos, which has
made a difficult time so much easier. The home is always clean and they provide activities and organise regular social events which friends and family can attend.

Whenever I visit my nan she's always happy and well presented. The carers are very friendly and helpful and the home and my nan's room is always clean. The food is of a high standard and the portions are generous. The carers send us photos and let us videocall on their personal mobiles which has been
fantastic during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Since my father has been living in Elmstead Care Home he has settled in well. I have no doubt that after researching and visiting several care homes, we chose the best care home for him. The staff are happy, friendly, caring and supportive. They always contact me if there are any problems and reassure
me that he is ok. As a possible area for improvement, I have noticed that entries put into the diary about my father have not always been communicated to other staff.

My parents have been residents for a number of years, and the care and support received during the current Covid pandemic has shown yet again how caring and fantastic the whole team are at Elmstead. It has been very difficult not being able to visit my parents since early March, and I really worried
about how they would cope not being able to have visitors or go out. Elmstead has done a great job keeping everyone safe and happy though. They have facilitated contact by arranging video calls, printing off emails, showing pictures and video messages that I have sent in from the family. I can’t praise or thank them enough for all they are doing in these unprecedented times, and that goes right across the board including housekeeping, catering, entertainment, carers and management.

My parents have been well cared for at Elmstead for a number of years and are very settled. The staff have always had a very caring attitude and go the extra mile in looking after them. They particularly enjoy the regular entertainment provided.

The staff are all very kind. I like that it is an open door policy you can go at any time.
The place is clean and tidy. The food is very good as I have tried it already when I stayed and had a meal with my friend.

A very friendly, relaxing and caring home. The staff really got to know my aunts likes and dislikes and more than accommodate her. They really make residents feel like they're on holiday at home.

My uncle came for a respite stay and not only did we have absolute peace of mind, but he also had a great time. He went in needing assistance with toileting and mobility and came home more independent in both aspects. Lovely, friendly caring staff throughout. My Uncle is now going to continue coming
along for daycare and where possible, and more respite stays. Couldn't recommend enough.

My dad has Alzheimer's and vascular dementia and his behaviour is sometimes challenging and out of character. It wasn't an easy decision to put my dad in care.
Elmstead have been amazing from the moment I stepped through the door, the care and support for my dad has been fantastic. The management is
excellent and hands-on and gives me reassurance. I cannot fault the care and support.

All staff are caring to both family and my mother who they care for. They also keep me updated on everything that has happened. I have never seen her smile so much for a very long time. They can't do enough for her and that is my mum's point of view as well as mine. There is so much to keep her occupied
and she enjoys every event that they have going on.

Mum settled in straight away, loved her room and enjoyed the food. We saw her come to life again smiling, laughing and joining in the activities. I can't praise Elmstead Care Home enough. Every member of staff I've had dealing with are very caring and friendly. The nest sentence are mum's words. "I
couldn't be treated any better if I was royalty". So thank you very much to all the staff for giving us happy memories.

My mother is happy and settled at Elmstead. She is looked after with care and we know as a family she is safe and well looked after. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. There is a homely atmosphere and the activities/entertainment is excellent.

We can't thank the staff enough for the wonderful care that they have given Mum since she moved to Elmstead. Mum is very happy, well looked after and extremely well fed! The food is of a high standard. We have been very impressed with all the staff, who treat Mum with kindness and respect. We are kept
well informed about every aspect of Mum's care. All the staff are so friendly and approachable - a credit to Elmstead. Thanks for taking such good care of Mum.

It gives me peace of mind just knowing my sister is happy in the home and it is not over big, so it makes her feel more comfortable, more to her liking. I found the staff to be very helpful and also very caring and they are always there on hand and that has to make it a homely place to be.
