Hall Grange, in Shirley, Croydon, offers a person-centred service for residents with old age related care needs within a spacious and comfortable interior that makes the most of carers' skills and talents. Hall Grange offers residential and dementia care for up to 86 older people.

Located three miles east of Croydon town centre, Hall Grange has an excellent local reputation, with relatives and volunteers involved in events and activities at the home. Residents also benefit from access to MHA The Wilderness, a seven acre nature reserve at the back of Hall Grange, where they can get involved in green activities including planting, creating homes for wildlife and bird watching.

Award-winning music therapy is provided by a specially trained Music Therapist, with singing and the playing of simple percussion instruments in group or one-to-one sessions. This is particularly beneficial to residents living with dementia, helping to reduce signs of distress, improve communication and alleviate isolation.

During the year that Mum has been at Hall Grange, we have been impressed by the amount of activities available and how much she is included. The staff are always so kind, patient and caring and Mum is always treated with respect and as an individual.
My only concern is that the relationship between
the GP and the home and the responsiveness of the surgery to carers requests and email is on most occasions incredibly slow which has an effect on resident's health.

A high-quality home with a lovely wilderness garden, all staff are very friendly and helpful to residents and visitors, food is excellent and plenty of daily activities.
The only concern is the security in the bedroom, eg. one iPad charger has disappeared and the replacement damaged (that could not
have been done by the resident) drinking cups in a cupboard slashed, cupboard keys disappearing, one of which was returned on a day when the resident was out.
Extremely pleased with the care given residents form friendships and enjoy chats at meal times and at communal sessions.
There are numerous organised daily activities on site in which the resident's friends and family are also able to partake and occasional trips out. eg to a restaurant.
There are regular visits from a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and a local GP.
Overall, a very good care home with outstanding facilities giving the residents a good quality of life.

Our mum was a resident of Hall Grange dementia unit from 2018, until her passing in March this year. As a family, we were understandably somewhat concerned, at having to move Mum into a care home. However, on reflection, both then and now we realise we could not have done any better for her in our
choice. At Hall Grange she participated in the many activities that were available, her best being the singing. All the staff showed such love, affection, commitment and compassion for her, as her illness gradually deteriorated. We would recommend Hall Grange to anyone who is considering a care home option and put your mind at rest with any apprehensions anyone may feel. Thank you to the carers for making our mum's final years, happy, secure and content ones for her.

In the last 5 weeks of my Dad's life he was cared for by the team at Hall Grange. Their warm welcome on arrival, care and kindness offered not only to my Dad but also to me at a difficult time you cannot put a price on.
Dad and I renamed it Hall Grange Hotel as the facilities were simply just the
same, a lovely room, restaurant, lounge area, lots of activities for all to enjoy and peaceful and pretty gardens.
And most importantly great service and wonderful staff.

My Mum has been in Hall Grange since May 2019, and my Dad spent 6-weeks there before he passed away in April 2021. I have nothing but the highest praise for Hall Grange, it is simply the best care home you could ever hope to find. It is run in an extremely professional manner and is highly efficient
and well organised. All the staff are friendly, courteous and extremely helpful, they always go that extra mile. They look after my Mum so well that she is positively thriving and is very happy there. My Dad was a challenge for the staff, as he could be cantankerous, but the staff never failed to treat him kindly and made his last days as pleasant and comfortable as possible. This is a beyond gold standard care home. I never have to worry about my Mum being there because I know she is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. I very much enjoy the Christian ethos in the care home, being a Christian myself, and this suits my Mum too, who is a Catholic.

Mum is now much happier since I have been able to visit her more frequently. She did not enjoy the first year of lockdown. She is well cared for and enjoys her food. Staff are always kind and helpful. However she does miss the occasional visits from her wider family and members of the Church who can
no longer simply pop in.

My brother has lived at Hall Grange for 3 years now. He has been through several unwell episodes but has come through these times and been well afterwards. I really believe this is all down to the kind and dedicated staff that work at his home.
I feel that my brother is in very capable hands and being
cared for by down to earth loving people. Who could ask for more?
I would recommend Hall Grange to anybody who wanted a special place for their loved ones and know that they are in very good hands. The staff are a credit to Hall Grange and Hall Grange is an excellent home indeed.

I have known MHA since the 1960s and was in charge of five similar homes (at different times) run by a church. When I was discharged from hospital after treatment for prostate cancer this was my first choice and although the structure has changed Hall grange maintains its reputation.

After living alone and neglecting herself, my mother has found a new lease of life and feels very relaxed and supported at Hall Grange. The home is warm, clean and welcoming, meals promptly served in the dining room. The staff are cheerful and helpful, and activities varied and distracting. Staff have
been patient and proactive during the lockdown, and management informative via emails. The wilderness is the icing on the cake! Well done, everyone.

I have never been treated better in my life since I arrived here four years ago, I have been in many flats, hostels and bedsits and this home is absolutely lovely. I have everything done for me. I have a handicap and can only walk everywhere with my trolley. I could never cook or get to the shops. I
have not been down the road for four or five years. Thank you very much.

My sister could be extremely difficult, worsened by her severe deafness and her refusal to consider any hearing aids. The staff at Hall Grange managed to remain patient in most situations which I thought was exemplary. Perhaps the menu could be more varied including yoghurt and fresh fruit occasionally.

The staff were very helpful, kind and caring.

My Mum had heart surgery in 2012 and a severe stroke followed in July that same year. After successfully being accepted at hall Grange Mum became a resident in May 2013. She was so happy at Hall Grange and received wonderful care and support from all of the staff and management. She was the life and
soul of the home and enjoyed her later years there. The family thanks MHA Hall Grange for the wonderful support and care provided.

I could not have wanted a better home for my mum. The staff have been amazing, so kind and caring, and always being there with kind words and encouragement.
The food at Hall Grange is excellent, Mum always enjoys the food the chef cooked.

Our mum died in April having spent 16 months in the care of Hall Grange. She was living in the dementia unit where she was loved and cared for by all. As relatives, we worked closely with the team of front line carers and management and resolved satisfactorily all issues that envolved mums condition
changed and her dementia deepened. Our family will be forever grateful for their care of her.

During the 3 months in which my husband was resident in this care home, he was looked after to a very good standard, as the dedicated staff did not always have an easy time with him. The overall standard in the home was excellent. The facilities indoors and outdoors were very good too, with the staff
taking time to get the residents to use them. This care home has great accommodation and everything looks very clean indeed. A very good and caring atmosphere is found here.
