My mother has never looked better since she entered this home. The Heathers is like a 4 star hotel for residents. The facilities are exceptional. The garden and outdoor buildings are accessible to anyone with disabilities. The staff are always welcoming and considerate. This home is intimate with a
small capacity for residential occupancy which allows individual identity. The communal lounge enables interaction with guests and staff. The familiar routine and the regular contact of staff and guests has put my mother's anxiety to rest.
The Heathers provides regular entertainment for guests and the opportunity for exercise.
I can take solace from every visit, in the knowledge that my mum is safe and cared for.

The Heathers have looked after my mother since covid. The staff have been wonderfully patient and caring. She has medical issues and the care she receives is attentive and sympathetic with the staff keeping me constantly informed. The Heathers is family-run and we all feel part of The Heathers family.
The atmosphere is very cheery and there are lots of activities taking place to keep the residents active both physically and mentally. It is a very challenging and emotional time when you have to place your parents into the care of others and throughout the process, I could not have been given more comfort and confidence that they get the very best of care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at The Heathers for 3 years. She is very happy and the care has been outstanding. The carers always go the extra length and take a genuine deep interest in each resident. There are a variety of daily activities and each resident is encouraged to join in. Residents
are not left alone in their rooms. Everybody is part of The Heather's family, spending most of the day together in the beautiful, spacious communal room. There is also a sunny large terrace adjacent to the communal room with easy access to the outdoor space. Visitors are made very welcome, helping to make the visit a lovely experience. I am very glad we have chosen this home for my mother-in-law.

My mother moved into The Heathers in December 2023, requiring both respite and then permanent care. When we were looking at homes we immediately warmed to this establishment. It’s managed professionally and the staff are caring and patient and seem to take the time to get to know the residents. My mother
has settled in well and enjoys the food, activities and her garden view. Staff keep us updated regularly and we are reassured that she is safe, eating a good diet and monitored 24/7. I would highly recommend this home.

My mum has been at The Heathers for a year. From the moment mum moved in her mood improved rapidly. She soon settled into her happy surroundings. This is due to the high-quality care from all the staff. All the staff and entertainment team are exceptional. They take their duties with patience, care,
and a smile. I am so happy I found The Heathers.

I went to The Heathers to see my cousin on her birthday. The staff were very helpful and updated me with a list of clothing that she required. I took her out for a coffee and a cake and got the required clothes. Upon our return, I was invited to have lunch with the residents; this was very welcome,
as I had travelled from the West Country. The staff later produced a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday. It all helped to make a great day.

My lovely mum needed to go into residential care earlier this year and I went to look at a few homes before making the decision to leave her in the care of The Heathers. I couldn't have made a better decision - and if you are somebody out there looking for the kindest, most caring and compassionate
place for your loved one to live out their days, then look no further.
The Heathers is family-owned, and it really shows how much they care about their precious residents by the kind of staff they employ. Communication with family is excellent and I was always made to feel welcome and met with a smile and a chat.
Sadly, my mum didn't live very long at the Heathers, but the time she had there brings me great comfort knowing she died surrounded by the very kindest and best of carers. I spent a long time there during my Mum's final weeks, and what I saw and heard really did help to restore my faith that there are good homes out there - you just have to be lucky enough to find one.

Dad is happy at the care home, he gets on well with the staff. Dad is a private person so it is great that he has his own outdoor space to sit and bird watch and grow flowers. This was a comforting thought for me, during the pandemic.

The Heathers have treated my mum with so much care and love beyond their remit. The staff are friendly and caring. Manager and owner are kind and approachable. The home is cosy and inviting and extremely clean. Food is very good. They have done everything possible to keep everyone safe during the
difficult times we have faced with covid.

This is a wonderful caring home that went above and beyond to treat my dad with love and respect as he approached the end of his life. His needs and requirements changed over time and the home changed with it to continue to give him the best possible care. This is a small well-managed home that has
a strong effective team of staff that can give a personalised service to each resident, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

The care that my dad received at The Heathers was exceptional. Every effort was made to make sure that his complex needs were attended to with diligence and compassion. The carers that looked after him became his friends and he was surrounded with love. The Heathers is extremely professionally run,
but it is also run like a true home from home.

The staff seem to understand and know the concern and worries experienced by the family and so act appropriately. They inform the family instantly of any issues with residents and willingly impart how residents are coping, day-to-day. This, for me, given family members confidence in how "loved ones"
are being cared for.

The Heathers is truly a unique place. The respect, care, support and encouragement were given to the residents and family members are second to none! The food is delicious (have sampled many of the homemade cakes, desserts, etc)! Thank you management and staff for all that you do. You are all amazing.

Difficult review as unable to visit care home often. However, the staff seem to like my mother, and she likes them. They facilitate video calls during the pandemic and have taken all preventive measures to avoid covid19.

The Heathers is a small care home with 12 rooms. As such it was the perfect cosy environment for my mother when her dementia worsened. She lived there for three years, prior to her death last week. She was well cared for with kindness and affection by the excellent staff. I was particularly grateful
for the end of life care she received during the COVID lockdown (she did not have the virus). All staff are working tirelessly to protect their residents as I write this and deserve huge praise.

Dad has been in the Heathers for over a year and we have felt confident in his care from day one. The staff have become like a second family to us and we are constantly amazed at the genuine love that is shown to every resident there. Any concerns are dealt with immediately by the management regarding
his health and welfare and we are given the impression that nothing is too much for them.

The Heathers is excellent. At the heart of this is the team. Staff strike that rare and most important balance between professionalism and compassion. We have always felt that, beyond their expertise which is clear, there is a genuine care for the residents as individuals. Our mum and dad have recognised
this from day one; there has been a genuine connection between them and the staff forged quickly and then built upon over time by the whole team at the Heathers.

The environment is very open; we and other members of the family are able to visit and are made welcome at any time. We have always felt this to be a measure of the management and staff's genuine commitment to providing everything that they promise - and to be seen to do so.

The house itself is homely. This was a very important thing for us when choosing a care home. Our parents would not have liked a large impersonal institutionalised environment. The Heathers is anything but.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.578)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.578) out of 10 for The Heathers Residential Care Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.878 for The Heathers Residential Care Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.878

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Heathers Residential Care Home Ltd is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 14 registered maximum number of service users is 2.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
