The Meadow care home in Muswell Hill provides residential and dementia care for 40 residents in purpose-built, en suite accommodation. The home is owned by MHA, a national charity helping to improve the lives of over 19,000 older people across Britain every day.

Personalised care plans are developed with residents and their relatives to enable the care team to provide personalised care and uphold the core values of dignity and respect.

A specially trained music therapist regularly visits The Meadow where they perform live music sessions in a group or one-to-one setting which helps to alleviate isolation and the symptoms of residents living with dementia.

Pastoral support and companionship is provided by a dedicate Chaplain, for residents and their families, whatever their beliefs.

Staff always helpful and go above and beyond to help and care. Everyone is very patient and kind, and I have no concerns about my friend's care. I think the staff will always work in the resident's best interests and individualise care accordingly.

Wonderful staff - they couldn't be kinder, friendlier or more helpful. My friend is very happy here, and very well looked after. It is a lovely place, with a great garden. Today we had a little party in the conservatory and it was absolutely fantastic!

Welcoming, friendly staff supported a group of the resident's friends enjoying lunch with her in a private room. Lovely relaxed visit. The home is really excellent. My friend has lived here for 6 years. The staff show understanding and compassion. I have visited at all times of day and night and have

Visited my cousin for the second time since she was placed here. The staff were helpful and good with the residents. My cousin is well cared for here.

I have found the staff very kind and helpful, both to the residents and visitors. The home is well-managed and run. My only query relates to whether there is enough urging of residents into activities. The other query is to do with whether there is enough medical oversight on residents who have difficulties.

As The Meadow is a residential care home, all our staff members are fully qualified and competent to perform their roles within a residential setting. They have adequate knowledge of our residents' medical needs. While we do not have qualified healthcare professionals on site, we are actively supported by general practitioners and the Enhanced Healthcare Team. This comprehensive approach ensures that we effectively address each resident's needs. Our staff encourage all residents to participate in activities, but we are also guided by their preferences. It may not always be necessary or desirable for all residents to participate in every activity, which is why we offer alternative forms of engagement tailored to their individual needs. I stayed in the care home for about 2 hours visiting a resident. Staff were all busy attending to other residents. They facilitated our visit by bringing us tea and biscuits and letting us in and out of the garden. The garden is beautiful but seems underused.

In my opinion, what matters most in a care home is the staff. How posh the surroundings are, how excellent the food, how engaging the activities... these are important, perhaps particularly to family and friends. But the staff is crucial for the well-being of the residents.
The staff at the Meadow
are wonderful. They are caring, warm, responsive, seemingly glad to be there, engaged and kind. They seem to know my sister well, even though she has been there for a short time so far. They have also made me feel at home there, which is much appreciated. Thank you for all that.

A welcoming and cheerful environment for residents. The home seems well run, and the staff are friendly and efficient. There are a range of activities for residents to participate in and to provide stimulation. Most rooms are a good size with furniture generally in good condition. The floor plan based
on a series of 7/8 room wings radiating from a central lounge area, creates a more homely feel, which would be difficult to achieve in a larger institution.

A very happy visit today. My father was the most talkative and animated that he has been for several months. He talked about living in the Meadows, characterising his stay as ' pretty good'. I do think that things have changed recently at the Meadows, probably driven by two factors. These are a change
of Manager and also a post-Covid uptick in activities for the residents.

The Meadow has proved to be the place we had hoped it to be for my brother after a diagnosis of late-onset Alzheimer’s. The admission process was great. I was impressed by the management and senior carers who showed us around, the thought and understanding behind their direction of the care programme
and by the respectful and helpful attitude of the care team. The deputy manager showed the utmost patience and sympathy in answering my brother’s questions, being prepared to wait as long as it took him to think out what he wanted to say.
He necessarily took a while to settle in, but is now happy, recalling names of staff and appreciating their attention to his needs and respect for his intelligence and resilience. The team’s handling of his medical needs makes me entirely confident leaving this to them. He says food is good but lacks variety. The efficient communication between the home and different care agencies and with me is impressive. Friends say how welcome staff have made them.

I attended a recent garden party with friends of a resident who has been in The Meadow for about 7 years.
The staff went ‘all out’ to create a lovely atmosphere for everyone. All of them were involved in the cooking of a BBQ and the food was delicious and plentiful. There was live music and one resident’s
102 bday was celebrated.
Our friend is beautifully cared for by some really lovely staff. She can be a real curmudgeon but the staff are so kind and patient with her.
This home is highly recommended.

My aunt, who has mild-moderate dementia, has been at The Meadow for over a year now and I have been consistently impressed by the quality of care and the professionalism of the staff team. They manage to combine a business-like efficiency in the practical running of the place with kindness and real
humanity in the delivery of care. My aunt is happy there. It's clearly been a positive move for her and the initial transition was handled carefully and went smoothly.

My husband has been a resident at The Meadow for 14 months with advanced dementia. He settled well from the beginning and remains very content. The care and management staff are always kind, caring and supportive of him and myself. The facilities are good with a large, safe, enclosed garden. The home
is always sparkling clean and tidy. The food is good with tea and biscuits always available. I would recommend The Meadow for anyone looking for a residential dementia placement.

Now that my mum has been at the Meadow for almost three years, she has settled in incredibly well and she knows it’s her home. Recently she went to the hospital for a few days and she missed home and all her friends there and couldn’t wait to get back. All the staff treat her with dignity and respect
and they have a laugh and joke with her and understand her personality. The home is cosy and clean with good food. It has beautiful gardens. It’s well-organised and safe. We are very grateful to the team for looking after Mum so well. Thank you.

I visited my friend during an event/performance by a band. The atmosphere was positive and warm and the residents seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the excellent environment. They were enlivened and stimulated by the music and the excellent care staff took care of the residents throughout. It felt as
though it was a happy occasion for all. The musicians were positive and respectful of their audience throughout and literally struck exactly the right communicative tone.

It was a wonderful event. We will book this again for the Christmas period and depending on availability, have another little concert here and the same musicians.
