I was concerned about how my mother would settle into a care home but the whole process was handled very professionally in a caring way and she settled in quickly. Her room was freshly decorated to a high standard and is homely and comfortable. The standard of care is very high at Minchenden Lodge and
the staff are friendly and approachable. They frequently go above and beyond the call of duty to make the residents feel at home.
My mother was becoming increasingly isolated at home and one of the reasons for making the transition to residential care was to counter this. She is now fully integrated into her new community and enjoys many of the activities and outings that are on offer. I am able to see these on social media and it is nice to see her enjoying herself.
There is also good access to healthcare professionals which is reassuring. I have complete confidence in the care my mother is receiving at Minchenden Lodge and I now don't have to worry about her at all.

The home is very personable. Great, clean, good food and carers are excellent. They refurbished Mum's room beautifully. I have nothing but compliments to all at Minchenden Lodge, and it's a great comfort knowing Mum is being looked after.

My mum has been a resident for two years during which time a difficult situation has been made bearable by the kind, respectful and friendly attitude of all the staff not only to mum, but myself, brother and Aunt.
The manager and her deputies lead with a calm and genuinely caring disposition, and
this filters down the whole team who seem to get on well and be happy in what can be a very demanding and not always easy job.

My sister and I moved our mother (93) into Minchenden Lodge four weeks ago and the management and staff could not have been more welcoming or reassuring.
Our mum's room is small but has everything needed including a mat with a pressure sensor and big windows which the sun shines through in the afternoon.
It is always spotlessly clean as is the whole of Minchenden Lodge.
Our mum suffers from anxiety attacks and the staff are extremely patient and kind. They tell her that she is part of their 'family'. Furthermore, we have felt from day one that the management also extends that warmth and concern to us, keeping us up to date and involving us regarding our mum's condition and any steps being taken to improve it.
From the top down, Minchenden Lodge is a genuinely kind and caring establishment.

My father was a resident at The Lodge for approximately a year and a half and sadly passed away recently. He was physically disabled as well as having Frontal Temporal dementia. No matter morning or evening; whenever I would visit Dad I found him well looked after and surrounded by supportive staff.
They ensured that his halal diet was catered for and as his medical needs escalated, staff and the new manager worked hard to keep the family informed of the next steps. We have seen the staff act in emergency situations as well as the day-to-day running of this Lodge and will always be grateful for the professional and exceptional care given with kindness that Dad received in the last year of his life. The Lodge feels homely, not just because of the small number of residents and décor but because all staff are committed to providing an environment where the dignity of the residents is a priority. And they do so with a smile. Keep it up!

I am really happy with the care my father receives and feel lucky that he has found somewhere as great as Minchenden Lodge. The Manager and staff really seem to know and understand my father and make so much effort to involve him in activities that he enjoys. He only has very positive things to say
about his life there. It is always immaculately clean and indeed does feel more like a hotel than a care home.
I am kept informed about his condition and if there is anything that they think he might need or want.
All the staff are very familiar and seem to make a great team.

My dad moved to Minchenden Lodge in May last year as he has advanced Alzheimer’s. I’ve been really happy with the quality of care he’s received, particularly under the care of the current manager. Despite his health problems, Dad is in good spirits and is well looked after. The home provides excellent
activities for residents and staff are always welcoming and accommodating to friends and family who visit.
The place looks more like a nice B&B than a care home - the rooms look lovely, not at all clinical, and there’s a family feel to the place.
The team are very attentive, making sure Dad gets the best support possible. They give each resident a key worker who pays special attention to the resident they support. They keep in touch with me regularly and let me know if there’s any change in Dad’s health or anything that is needed to make his life more comfortable. I’ve noticed that there doesn’t seem to be much turnover in staff, which I think is always a good sign.

My mum has been at Minchenden Lodge Care Home now for just over a year. Her dementia makes it extremely difficult for her to express her needs and preferences but the staff at the Lodge make every effort to ensure she is comfortable and well cared for. She is always well presented which is important
to her and responds well to the friendly attention the staff give her. The staff here always seem to maintain a cheerful appearance despite the constant demands on their time and the demanding nature of their work. The activities are both imaginative and inclusive with visits from local nursery children, a highlight for my mum. There are also occasional visits from a range of animals which the residents are encouraged to engage with. These are also a favourite.
Communication is very good and we are always kept up to date with what my mum has been doing.
Visiting is made extremely easy with no requirement for advance booking.
The room and communal areas are always very clean and bright.

The staff are kind, caring and understanding of our resident's needs. If she doesn't always appreciate the care, this is the result of her condition, not a reflection on the quality of the care. The room is delightful. I think our resident finds some of the activities and events not worthy of her time
or attention, but she has a residual sense of what her intellect used to be, which does not match up with the present reality - and you can't please everyone, even with your superb efforts.
Extra services, such as blood tests, assessments and the provision of appropriate medication, are all excellent. Management is always responsive to requests and concerns.
Our resident always perks up at mealtimes, so the food must be OK!
Parking in the car park requires delicate manoeuvring, but I don't see what can be done about that (without removing the pretty gardens in front).
All in all, our resident is in the best possible place in which to spend her last years. Thank you, Minchenden Lodge.

I have only the highest praise for Minchenden Lodge.


Mum has advanced dementia and is no longer able to live independently. She was initially reluctant to move out but settled in at the lodge as soon as she arrived. She's now been a resident for two years. To her, the lodge is now ‘home’.


The

manager and staff are hard-working, professional, kind, empathetic, proactive and flexible. As this is a ‘medium-size’ care home, there’s an intimate, ‘family’ atmosphere here that you don’t always find in the larger chain facilities.


I’ve always been struck by how much the lodge staff really do ‘know’ my mother – in terms of her personality, likes and dislikes, specific needs and wants. Again, with some other larger homes you can find the staff turnover and rotation so great that they sometimes hardly seem to know their own residents.


As her son, with lasting power of attorney for all of Mum’s affairs, it’s given me huge peace of mind to know Mum is in good hands at Minchenden Lodge.

During my father's stay at Minchenden Lodge, he was able to see out his final months in life with dignity and the highest of level of care. The staff were always professional but even more so, kind. We were all able to form bonds that impacted us in ways we never imagined. Dad was happy and always comfortable.
He truly felt at home, we all did. Thanks to the manager and the staff we were able to focus on quality time with Dad while all his needs and care were taken care of. I’d also like to mention the support and care, we (his family) received was so valuable and we are forever grateful for this.

Mother and Father came here just before COVID.
Lovely services by staff. No complaints.
Mother passed away in April 2021 with dementia. My father is still grieving and the care is extremely good from staff.
Father is lonely in his room. He is still unable to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The
food is ok. Father will not join in with activities.
Laundry service needs improvement ie: lost clothing.

For clarity, your father can absolutely see his grandchildren via our visiting pod or garden, it is simply that we do not wish to put undue stress on children by testing them for COVID and therefore at this time they are unable to enter the home directly. In terms of our menu, we discussed this at length with your father and we have introduced a weekly cultural meal specifically for him that identifies with his background and upbringing and we hope that this will help elevate his perception of the food we offer. Finally, we are unaware of any issues with the laundry and it would be appreciated if you can contact the management to discuss your concerns around missing clothing as this is the first time we have heard of the problem.
