Upon arrival at the Sidcup care home, you'll discover seven acres of beautifully landscaped wheelchair-friendly gardens, allowing all residents to appreciate the picturesque scenery. Comprising three stunning buildings, the home accommodates 149 resident bedrooms, each equipped with en-suite wet rooms and kitchenettes.

The care home boasts fantastic on-site facilities, including a hair and beauty salon for residents who want a little TLC, bright and spacious lounges which provide a comfortable space to unwind, and a restaurant serving freshly prepared seasonal cuisine during mealtimes.

The team offer various forms of support, catering to different needs. Residential care is available for those requiring extra support with basic day-to-day activities. In contrast, the nursing care service provides a more intensive level of care for individuals with longer-term conditions, delivered by the local district nursing team. Since the emergence of Covid19, management and staff have been magnificent in ensuring the health and wellbeing of all residents and staff. They have been decisive in enforcing infection control measures and, in my mother's case when long-planned arrangements for her 100th birthday were curtailed due
to "lockdown", the situation was managed in a thoughtful and consultative manner. Although the original celebration planned for family and friends from UK, USA, Ireland and Australia was cancelled, management and staff went to enormous trouble to provide Mum with a significant party involving all residents and staff. They even took photos which were sent to all Mum's family as a record of her milestone. These and other actions taken throughout the pandemic, though often difficult to implement, have kept everyone safe and well.
My mum has been impressed by the level of communication continuously provided to her and all residents. This has given peace of mind, providing facts, not rumours. Thanks.

Both my parents spent their closing years here (the last eight years) and were as happy and well cared for as they could have been with their progressing dementia and declining health. My father lived in all three units, starting with an Independent Living apartment, moving into the Chestnut House community
and ultimately Well House when his dementia had taken over his life completely.
I was constantly amazed at how well the staff related to all the residents, especially in Well House where they had to deal with unpredictable behaviour and awkward interactions between residents. They did so brilliantly while still treating all the people in their care with respect and apparent affection.
In April, when needing hospital treatment, the staff worked hard to overcome the reluctance of the NHS to accept patients from care homes at the height of the pandemic.
They always did the best that anyone could for both my parents and are continuing to show great kindness to the bereaved family. Superb.

When my sister and I were looking for residential care for my increasingly frail parents, who could no longer cope with living at home, we visited several places in the area but were immediately struck by the ambience of Sunrise - more like a country house hotel than a care facility. As we were negotiating
my parents moving in the staff could not have been more helpful - bending over backwards to accommodate their every request. Since their arrival, I can only say that my opinion of Sunrise has risen. The food is excellent, the activities varied, and the staff unfailingly courteous, smiling, and prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty. Sunrise's preparation for and arrangements during Covid could not have been bettered and I feel that my parents are very safe. Suffice to say that I recommended to my cousin that it would be a perfect place for her father, and my uncle is now also a resident. Many thanks to all who work there.

Although I have not been able to visit my father due to COVID 19, the home has set up arrangements to see him online via an app; which has been great. The home has also kept us fully informed of developments, and whilst I can’t visit, I do feel confident that all measures are being taken to protect
residents.

The moment I stepped into Sunrise, I knew I had finally found a suitable care home for my mum’s respite needs. The buildings and grounds are impressive, lovingly decorated throughout and all the staff ooze friendliness and passion for their jobs.


My mum spent four weeks at Sunrise, where the care

she received helped her make an amazing recovery from pneumonia. She wanted to add the following comment:


“I had a lovely furnished ensuite room, with a very comfortable bed and armchair. Everything was kept spotlessly clean, and the whole home had a friendly atmosphere. Carers were always available to assist me, and the food was absolutely delicious. There were activities every day, and I particularly enjoyed the minibus trips.”


Our family and friends were extremely impressed when they visited Mum there, and we have no hesitation in recommending to other families to consider this care home for their loved one’s respite or forever care.

When I first visited I thought I had gone to the wrong place! The atmosphere was wonderful. My mum was extremely well looked after by the dedicated staff here, the food was absolutely first class and this enabled my mum's appetite to return so that she was able to regain her strength and confidence.
During
her stay here she has made many friends and would not hesitate to return if needed as the care and kindness shown to her by the staff here have enabled her to return back to her own home.
Throughout Mum's stay here I was welcomed by all the staff I encountered and kept up to date on how Mum was doing.
There was always plenty of activities to do and something going on and her room was wonderful with all that was needed for her stay here.
I cannot stress enough that the staff here are wonderful and went above and beyond what was expected, please make an appointment and see for yourself if you have to make the delicate decision to arrange the care of your family member.

In almost 3 years I find staff and fellow residents most helpful. I would really describe the place as a family - one looks after the other and are really looked after by all staff, no matter what grade.

Hello, I’m Fiona, I entered the care sector at the age of 15, previously to this role I was a registered nurse and currently have over 30 years working within a care home setting covering residential, dementia care, mental health and nursing care.


I am passionate about all aspects of care being person-centred to ensure that residents live a fulfilling life. My main interests in care are dementia, medication and end-of-life care.
