Everyone has been most helpful and kind to me at all times. The staff and carers in the dining hall are kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them, whatever you want! all staff greet you with a smile and a cheery word, which is very encouraging when you first arrive. All in all I feel
relaxed and getting better by the day!

My mum had a 4 weeks trial at this place in an 'independent' unit.
She was assessed by the care home before the trial started.
My mother could not cope with the 'independent' unit at all.
I removed her after 9 days.
There was no apology or even a sympathetic reply from the organisation.
I felt
they were only interested in the fees.

I am more than happy with mum's care. We have had occasions to complain but we have spoken to management who have looked at our complaints and we are pleased to say that matters have been resolved in a quick and caring manner. Whilst I understand increases in mum's monthly care are going to happen,
I believe that they are on the high side!!

As I have been able to bring my own bed and furnishings it has helped me to settle in my room and feel cosy and comfortable. Also with a nice view from my window. The meals have been varied and nourishing. Serves at small tables set for four people to enjoy the company at meal times. The bistro area
has plenty of seating and a coffee and tea making machine. There are always some activities to interest most, like Yoga, Quizzes etc, and always my own room if I need some quiet time.

The carers have shown nothing but warmth to mum. They are patient and take time to ensure that she gets help when needed. When visiting mum we often hear her laughing and joking with a member of staff, they genuinely care about her, which is comforting from relatives point of view. From kitchen staff
to the chap who drives the bus they always have smile and a word with mum.

I have found this care home one of the best I have been in. My relative is well looked after and she has everything she needs, and the staff cannot do enough for her. It is a very friendly place and every time I visit there is always something going on for the residents to do. I am always made to feel
welcome by the staff when I visit her. It is a lovely place to live for the last few years of your life.

Since my father went to live at Sunrise he has received excellent care in all areas. There is always someone to speak to regarding his health, diet and wellbeing. I cannot praise the carers enough for all they do. The food is to a very high standard and it's good to see my father gaining weight. He
is very happy and praises the staff every day. I didn't want my father to go into a home but from the moment I walked through the doors and met such kind people I knew it was the very best for him.

My mother started off in independent living but when her friend was unwell she found it difficult to find her way to the main building. She has macular degeneration so found it impossible to use the keypad to open the door. She is now in assisted living and they have helped her make the transition to
the new building and new room. She is still settling in but the staff have been patient with her and allowed her to keep her independence.

Hello, I’m Fiona, I entered the care sector at the age of 15, previously to this role I was a registered nurse and currently have over 30 years working within a care home setting covering residential, dementia care, mental health and nursing care.


I am passionate about all aspects of care being person-centred to ensure that residents live a fulfilling life. My main interests in care are dementia, medication and end-of-life care.
