Poplars Care Home is 27 bed care home whose aim is to provide a high standard quality of care within a homely environment. A stone's throw from Ruislip high street, the former 'Poplars Tea Rooms' building has been adapted to provide individually decorated single en-suite rooms.

The Home offers three lounge areas including a sunny south garden facing garden room. There is a dining section for mealtimes and activities. There is a self service area for drinks including a fridge for snacks for residents to help themselves to.

The home is staffed by a team of qualified senior and junior carers who are able to cater for any care needs presented. All staff have prior experience and have gained qualifications whilst working at the home to enable them to work to a friendly and professional standard.

Poplars Care Home operates a lively activities programme which includes weekly outings to Ruislip High Street. The Home offers tailored activities including watercolour classes, intergenerational nursery visits, virtual armchair trips, and chair yoga. Regular outings are held to Ruislip Lido, Manor Farm Tea Room and regular attendance to the Tea Dances held at Hillingdon Civic Centre.

The staff here at Poplars Care Home have been so good to mum. She arrived here unable to walk and very frail. She had bedsores and was in a lot of pain. As the days and weeks that went by here she became better and better. The staff here gave mum all the attention to make her well again. The day before
mums death the staff showed me what mum could do! She was walking again, happy eating ice cream with me in the garden- amazing! Thanks again Poplars Care Home.

We are happy with the overall care and support showed to our mother. We feel it would be nice if there was more 1-1 interaction with staff but we totally understand that it is a matter of time. We are aware that our mother responds better with 1-1 time than in a big group. We do feel the staff have
worked really hard to settle our mum and really appreciate it.

Dad has been a resident at Poplars since November 2015. He is nearly 93 and suffers from frontal lobe dementia and numerous other problems. Due to the thought given to his care and the friendliness of the staff, he settled in happily and quickly. His wishes are always considered. He is treated with
dignity and respect by staff at all levels. He much enjoys the varied activities offered at Poplars Care Home, I think his favourite was going with other residents for a meal at Ruislip Lido. Think he is probably less enthusiastic about the exercise sessions!. There is a very "can do" attitude at Poplars Care Home which helps puts them head and shoulders above the other care homes.

The home is well organised and managed, The general availability of care is high. It is very welcoming to family and visitors. Hygiene standards are high. The premises has recently been refurbished internally and externally. Location is excellent. Activities are provided but could be increased and extended.
The importance of quality of food must be recognised and high standard maintained. Importance is given to resident safety and security overall, very satisfied with the service provided.

My mother has been treated and cared for with dignity and kindness. She says she enjoys the friendly camaraderie and the laughs she has with the staff. I have also found the staff to be helpful and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed, but controlled and I am happy she is well cared for.

My mother is always treated with dignity, even though she can sometimes be difficult! The carers arrange outings on a regular basis (tea dances, local parks) and have events in house (Queens birthday) and involved all the residents who want to participate.
My family and and know that my mother is being
well cared for, is being fed well and the carers update us regularly on her situation.
As a family we are encouraged to participate in any events we would like to. Overall very happy with Poplars!

When my mother arrived at Poplars in February she had been in and out of hospital with recurring urine infections and was in pain from an undiagnosed spinal fracture. She was very poorly and had deteriorated from self reliant in mid December to barely able to get out of bed in February.
She is now
almost back to her old self, having regained her appetite, love of life and vigour. She still needs help and I doubt she will recover much further but the improvement is massive. Care is excellent and all the staff are obliging, well trained and professional. She could not be better looked after!!

My mother was received into Poplars on 16th June 2015 and from day 1 she was given the courtesy and kindness that all homes should aspire to. She is very contented and enjoys the occasional outings provided. All the staff are pleasant and do their best for the residents. My mother has a lovely room
overlooking the garden and an en suite. Everything is scrupulously clean everywhere in the home. I couldn't wish for better home for my mother, who is 94 years of age.

After completing a Psychology degree I worked in a variety of support roles working with people with mental ill health and worked my way up to Registered Manager. I have had 16 years of experience in this role in a variety of residential settings with different client groups and also have area-managed residential and supported living services.


It is a huge responsibility to be entrusted with your loved ones and it is my aim that their experience of care is fun, safe and person-centred achieved via an established and well-trained care team who absolutely have the right values for the job.

My role at the Home is to oversee the catering, housekeeping, and laundry. IT and maintenance of the Home. My priorities are safety for the residents, staff and visitors and a lot of my work involves maintaining compliance and pushing the service forward with innovative solutions.


The best part of my role is the residents; I will always make time to chat. I am passionate about learning more about how they want their care and the service to run. I also enjoy seeing the Poplars team working towards common goals.

I joined Poplars in November 2021. I decided that after working in the logistics business for over 25 years I needed a change of direction. I wanted to work in a job where I could use my organisational, analytical, and social skills to support people and Poplars has been the perfect choice.


The best part of my job is being able to spend some time during the day to have a chat with the residents at Poplars or join in one of the daily activities, which makes the sometimes very busy days very worthwhile.


My challenge has been to learn the procedures of what is required to work in a care home and to move out of my comfort zone and learn new things. No day is the same.


I was looking for a job where I would arrive at work with a smile on my face and leave with a smile on my face and I’ve found that at Poplars.
