Rutland House is a family-run care home specialising in dementia care, dedicated to providing a warm, homely atmosphere in a comfortable and safe environment whilst encouraging and supporting residents' independence.

All care staff are trained at NVQ Level 2, in dementia care and are dedicated to providing high standards of person-centred care for residents. A weekly schedule of activity includes; reminiscence therapy, music therapy with a professional musician, chair-based exercises and dance to encourage residents to stay healthy and have fun.

After careful assessment of a resident, with the collaboration of family and loved ones, a person-centered care plan is created to meet the resident’s psychological and physical care needs.

My Mother went to the home in January 2011. Since then her care has been exemplory. She has alzeimers and therefore incapable of caring for herself. She has been content, well cared for and as happy as her condition will allow.. I am absolutely content with the standard of care she has had.

I have been impressed by the care of staff whenever I visit. I live a long way away so it is not really extremely likely I would recommend Rutland House but would if I knew anyone locally. I visit without warning and it is evident how caring the staff are. There are several activities organised each
week and residents enjoy taking part. Indeed today my aunt would rather continue her art course than talk to me in the other room.!
The facilities are homely and well run. My aunt falls easily and care is taken to sees she is supervised when on the move. There is a good choice of food and my aunt is drinking and eating well. She tells the family she loves it. Personal care is good. Her hair is well cut and styled and she loves it when she gets a manicure. She is always neat and tidy.
Her room contains personal. Touches from home. We are confident she is safe and well cared for.

I try to visit my neighbour once per week and each time she is very happy to see me but never shows unhappiness when she tells me it is time for my departure! Each resident is treated with respect and patience. The home ensures the residents and their clothing are spotless. The bedrooms are comfortable,
tidy and clean, and the food is excellent. Entertainment is provided several times per week. I have also been invited to two parties so far which have given a lot of enjoyment and the buffet, excellent.


I obviously cannot comment on the medical side.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Rutland House residential home to anyone. My Mother-in-law is very well looked after and very safe, which gives me great peace of mind.
The home is very well run and the staff are wonderful and caring.

She has been here for 10 years. She is treated like a family member. Everyone cares and all her needs are met.

My mother has been a resident at Rutland House for 7 months. From the outset, I have been impressed with the level of care, attention to detail, concern about wider family (my father) and genuine desire to make my mum happy. My mother has a spacious, sunny room which is always clean. The staff are friendly
and caring, many have been carers for some time there. Whenever there is a need for a discussion the manager sends me a text or a call. I have complete confidence in their ability to take care of my mother.

My father has been there now for 2 and a half years and is very happy there. Unfortunately my father had a short stay in hospital a few weeks ago. The manager/owner of Rutland House went along several times the to the hospital to visit my father who was very happy to see her as was I. On release from
hospital Rutland House have laid on all the extra facilities and support that my father has needed they have been fantastic. The management and staff are amazing with their care and support they give not only to my father and all the other residents but also to the families of the residents. This is an excellent care home.
