Staff maintain a strong relationship with residents, looking to develop person-centred lifestyle plans that enable them to get the most out of the care setting, with numerous opportunities amongst the surrounding community.

My brother-in-law has been at Sahara Lodge for over 20-years. He absolutely loves it, and so do we. He is well taken care of, and all his needs are provided, holidays, birthday parties, Christmas entertainment, etc. Couldn't be more happier that he is being taken care of by caring, wonderful staff.

I am very happy that my sister in law resides at Sahara Lodge because the staff take very good care of her with her special needs due to learning difficulties, partial vision and other issues. They make sure she is under close watch all the time.
All staff treat her with respect and care. They keep
her clean, well clothed and feed her well and ensure she is happy. She is a vegetarian and staff specially cook for her every day. I respect for their extra care and time.
There are also plenty of activities for her in the day centre which is well managed. There are also two beautiful, peaceful gardens which she enjoys and are very good for her health.
I think she is very happy at Sahara Lodge with all the facilities they have.
Sahara lodge do a lot for all residents when it comes to their activities, birthdays or other seasonal occasions, just because of the hard-working staff and management who take care.

My sister-in-law has been here for some time now, and whilst I do not often get an opportunity to visit her, I am always struck by how happy she seems. The staff ensure that she is involved in all activities and that she is happy. She is always clean and well dressed, and the staff are thoughtfully
and caring.

I am extremely happy with my sisters care. She is always clean and groomed, and is happy. I rarely announce in advance that I am visiting, and I have never had the slightest concern about any aspect of her care. This year with the covid-19 restrictions, I feel all the staff have been more than exemplary
dealing with an appalling situation. They are all to be commended. My sister could not be better situated; she is very content there.

Connection with staff regarding looking after my son is very good, they let me know at once if anything needs to be dealt with and my son's priority comes first to my knowledge. Phone calls and medical reviews are up to date.

I am so pleased with Sahara Lodge where my sister has been cared for with her severe learning disabilities for a number of years now.
She is well looked after and I have very little concern about her health due to excellent capable staff.
Whenever I have visited the home I have been quite impressed
with the way all the staff adhere to their duties and this shows the due care they take to achieve a high standard of care for all residents. I have personally noticed how well each resident is treated in spite of the various difficulties and disabilities each resident may have. I would say they are very lucky to be a resident at Sahara Lodge.

Sahara Lodge has a good management team who are always trying to change for better and improve their services in all areas and are successful in maintaining their standard by doing so.
They provide good facilities and care one would expect.

The care home is a very nice, welcoming and vibrant place. The care home has helped my daughter so much in terms of her independence. She has become more mature and outgoing and has learnt so many new skills.

My sister has been to a couple of care homes but this one has been by far the best. The home always works with our family when needed, always aiming to improve things. The staff has encouraged my sister with excelling in her artwork, building up her confidence. The improvement in her behaviour due to
the hard work of the staff has helped our family so much.

Details of past experience, including when you started your professional career

I have worked in the care sector for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant in 1988. I worked in the community as an informal carer for the elderly in 1997 working closely with district nurses and RRT. I wanted to change my career from working with the elderly to working with people that have LD needs, an opportunity came along for me to join Sahara Care in 2011 as a support worker. I got great satisfaction from seeing the difference my work made to the lives of the people I was supporting and felt this was the company that I would like to progress my career with. I soon became a senior support worker and worked my way to becoming a team leader. I was promoted to deputy manager in 2016 where I gained the skills required to manage the everyday running of the service and to make a difference to the people that myself and the team support.
