I was very impressed with the house. My sister's room was very comfortable and homely. It was well equipped with her own bathroom. The other residents were friendly and the staff members were just like family. The day room was very well equipped and it was obvious that residents enjoy doing activities
in there. The gardens were well maintained and having access to the house next door is good. Having pets in the home makes it feel like a home from home. The menu for the day is displayed in a format that residents can understand and the food looks very tasty. My sister is very happy here and it gives me lots of peace of mind that she is being looked after.

My brother has settled really well since he came to Saraha this year. He has smiled so much more and the calm, caring environment has helped him become much more like 'his old' self. The staff are always helpful and my brother feels comfortable at the home.

Lovely house. The day centre at the end of the garden such a fab idea, they don't have to travel far. The staff were fantastic. Very caring.

Details of past experience, including when you started your professional career

I have worked in the care sector for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant in 1988. I worked in the community as an informal carer for the elderly in 1997 working closely with district nurses and RRT. I wanted to change my career from working with the elderly to working with people that have LD needs, an opportunity came along for me to join Sahara Care in 2011 as a support worker. I got great satisfaction from seeing the difference my work made to the lives of the people I was supporting and felt this was the company that I would like to progress my career with. I soon became a senior support worker and worked my way to becoming a team leader. I was promoted to deputy manager in 2016 where I gained the skills required to manage the everyday running of the service and to make a difference to the people that myself and the team support.
