St Theresa's is a homely, award winning care home set in the lovely conservation area of Bush Hill Park, Enfield, London.

They look after only 24 residents and provide them with the highest standard of care. The building is a Victorian property sympathetically converted as a 'home away from home'. St Theresa's first opened its doors in 1953 and is situated close to the local shops and transport.

All staff are well trained, carefully vetted and recruited for skills in caring. Being a smaller care home enables St Theresa’s to provide care that fits the needs of each individual resident.

At St Theresa's, the smaller number of residents cared for allows staff to understand the changing care needs of each resident on a day-to-day basis. The residents also get to know each staff member well, which builds familiarity and trust. Many staff have been with St Theresa's for years, which helps residents feel secure.

Great emphasis is placed on creating a pleasant, homely atmosphere for residents. Special attention is given to the happiness and individual requirements of all residents. There is direct involvement of the owners in the management of the home.

St Theresa's has a visiting hairdresser, optician, dentist, chiropodist, GP's, district nurses and other health professionals.

The home has a 'Good' rating with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in all areas of care (July 2016, February 2019).

My mother moved into St Theresa's in 2019. It had been her choice to move to a rest home. I did lots of research and visits to find the perfect one for her. From day one, she was welcomed by staff and residents. She has a lovely room with lots of photos and possessions but more than anything, she enjoys
being in the lounge with others. The food is excellent with great meal choices. Mum looks forward to sitting with others for dinner. Pre pandemic, we could pop in at any time to see Mum. Obviously, Covid has changed things, but we have kept in close contact with her through FaceTime, phone calls, window and garden visits. The garden is beautiful. Mum loves sitting in the conservatory watching the weather and wildlife. The owners also manage the home. They are always available and regularly communicate with us by email and phone calls, especially through this difficult year. Mum's well-being has been completely catered for at St Theresa’s, but we still feel an important part of her life.

I visited several homes in the area before choosing St Theresa's on the basis of warmth (literal and metaphorical), cleanliness (no Covid cases to date speaks for itself) and being efficient, without appearing patronising. In the five years she was there, neither I, nor my cousin, had cause to doubt
that my choice for her was the correct one. She was very well looked after, she loved her room, relished the food (the Christmas party was a joy) and when there was no entertainment, there were always the birds and squirrels to watch in the lovely garden. Friends and family were made to feel welcome anytime and I was always kept up to date regarding her health and welfare. I knew she was safe and happy in their hands until she passed away after a stroke in June.

My father has been at St. Theresa's for nearly 6 years now and has been looked after with the utmost care and compassion.
The owners are always there and have a consistent team of excellent care staff.
My father's health, appointments and medication have always been handled with great care and efficiency,
and I'm always called and notified of anything that they consider relevant.
Pre the current pandemic, relatives and friends are encouraged to visit at will, and I have never felt the need, or encouraged, to "make an appointment".
The confident and stringent measures that St.Theresa's employed this March (even pre Government guidelines) meant that they have to date had NO Covid-19 cases amongst both the residents and staff, which is an outstanding achievement and clearly illustrates their commitment.

Having carefully reviewed a number of homes in the area, we chose St Theresa's as we found it a very caring/well-run home. The staff were very caring, thoughtful and friendly. My partner has been at the home for almost two years. I visit her at home every day.
The owner/owner-managers were around
all the time and most courteous, helpful and friendly at all times. I feel my partner was part of the St Theresa's family and would have no hesitation about recommending the home to others who are seeking an excellent care home for those they care for.

This is a repeat review as my previous review only scored a 'good' and I think the service and care St Theresa's provides for my mother is, in fact, excellent! They show compassion and understanding every day, whilst being responsive to her needs. They've gone far beyond the care I expected. The managers

St Theresa's is a special place. From our first visit, it was clear that the management and staff care about their residents in all aspects of their needs. The manager has been supportive of my family during a very difficult time, going above and beyond with her care, attention and professionalism.
The home itself is clean and welcoming with a lovely garden and a variety of activities for residents. The other residents always seemed happy, well cared for and content.

We find it a very caring and a well-run home.
We like the fact that the staff are experienced, thoughtful and caring when looking after elderly people.
The senior management/owners
are always present and available.
Overall, we have found St Theresa's a warm, understanding and caring home, and a place that I can trust to look after Mum well and safely.

My mother-in-law was at St Theresa's from April 2017 until she sadly passed away in February 2019.
The family chose St Theresa's after reading reviews of local care homes and visiting St Theresa's. Our first impression was of an extremely well-run care home with very caring staff. This proved to be
the case. My mother-in-law was looked after by a very happy and caring team. The management were excellent and the staff made her feel like one of the family. St Theresa's does not use agency staff so every member of the team knew my mother-in-law personally and she was so happy there. I cannot praise or recommend St Theresa's highly enough.

My sister has been at St Theresa's for the last 6 months and I can't express how thankful I was to find it. My sister was sixty-four and suffering from vascular mixed dementia and they have made her feel very welcome and safe. She loves the carers who are kind and understanding of her needs. I have
been extremely impressed with the management team who are always available with an open door. As you can imagine a very difficult time and they have been there to comfort and support me. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

Our Mum has been a resident for just about 12 months now.
St Theresa's has been a great choice.
All the staff are very caring towards Mum, who is not always the most co-operative resident.
Her medical needs are always seen to rapidly.

My mum was here at St Theresa's Rest Home for 8 months and I am so glad that I chose this home for her. I could not fault any of the care that my mum received. She was happy and content the whole time she was here. Her last days she was treated with dignity and compassion and I was happy here rather
than in a hospital.
The manager and all the staff are second to none in the care industry and if any of my friends or family need a care home I would not hesitate to recommend St Theresa's Rest Home.

My late aunt spent her last 2 years in the excellent care of the staff at St Theresa's.
Despite her ever-worsening condition she was always treated with dignity and given all attention necessary.
After reviewing several homes I chose the St Theresa's not just because of its rating but also because
I wanted her to stay in a smaller, friendly home where she would receive personal attention and remain part of a 'family'.
Of course, the facilities, cleanliness and food are excellent but it's the individual, personal care that is provided to residents that makes the home stand out.
I have no issues at all with any aspect of my aunt's care and greatly appreciate the staff's efforts in making her last years as comfortable as possible. I, therefore, have no reservations about recommending the home to others.

I phoned various Care Homes in Enfield and found St Teresa's Rest Home to be the most helpful and the communication was clear and concise.
The family then visited St Teresa's and found it to clean, tidy, well organised and the staff helpful and chatty. The manager was very knowledgeable when discussing
my grandmother's medical needs.
My grandmother was not settling very well and was quite cantankerous. They got her eating and drinking (while she clutched her handbag) and she got her newspaper every day.
Throughout her stay, her carers were understanding and patient and she soon came round to her new surroundings.
Unfortunately, her health was deteriorating rapidly due to Anaemia and Kidney Failure and the manager was able to sort out visits from nurses to tend to her and Marie Curie ladies came to sit with her day and night, so when my grandmother did pass away in the early hours she was comfortable and with a friendly face. All we could have asked for. We couldn't have wished for a better care home.

My partner was in St Theresa's for just short of 2 years. She passed away on the 9th August 2017 with what seemed to be a heart attack and I was made aware as soon as it happened.
They had made her life a lot better from the time she was admitted, peaceful and quiet, which I was very thankful.

Last Christmas my family needed to find a home urgently for my father after a sudden deterioration in his dementia. We were impressed with our initial visit to St.Theresa's and the manager could not have been more friendly and reassuring but at the same time absolutely professional when she came to
assess. We were greatly helped with the move-in process and from day one, were impressed with the standard of care. Kindly and experienced staff were always on hand whenever anything was needed. No-one sitting distressed in corners waiting for someone to help and an atmosphere of calm always prevailed even when someone became agitated. Our father, though distressed and indeed difficult at times, clearly benefitted from being amongst others in a similar situation to his own and we were assured that he was never too much trouble. We are enormously grateful to the manager and all the staff at St.Theresa's and would happily recommend them to anyone finding themselves in a similar situation.
