St Theresa's is a homely, award winning care home set in the lovely conservation area of Bush Hill Park, Enfield, London.

They look after only 24 residents and provide them with the highest standard of care. The building is a Victorian property sympathetically converted as a 'home away from home'. St Theresa's first opened its doors in 1953 and is situated close to the local shops and transport.

All staff are well trained, carefully vetted and recruited for skills in caring. Being a smaller care home enables St Theresa’s to provide care that fits the needs of each individual resident.

At St Theresa's, the smaller number of residents cared for allows staff to understand the changing care needs of each resident on a day-to-day basis. The residents also get to know each staff member well, which builds familiarity and trust. Many staff have been with St Theresa's for years, which helps residents feel secure.

Great emphasis is placed on creating a pleasant, homely atmosphere for residents. Special attention is given to the happiness and individual requirements of all residents. There is direct involvement of the owners in the management of the home.

St Theresa's has a visiting hairdresser, optician, dentist, chiropodist, GP's, district nurses and other health professionals.

The home has a 'Good' rating with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in all areas of care (July 2016, February 2019).

St Theresa’s is highly regarded by both the local community and the medical profession.

My mother was very difficult when starting at the care home. They worked very hard with her and she became very settled and enjoyed her time at St. Theresa's.
They looked after her so well. The staff were all so well trained by the manager. It was such a happy place to be. They looked after her until
the end of her life which was made so easy by their kindness and understanding and I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for her.

When my mother left hospital after surgery in October 2014 she was no longer able to live in her own home. She arrived at St Theresa's confused, panicky and extremely unhappy. The staff assured the family that she would gradually settle and that we shouldn't worry. The time it took Mum to settle was
probably a fair bit longer than the staff anticipated but they never tired of trying out different ways to keep her calm and cheerful. What Mum really responded to in those early days was the affectionate, tactile approach of the Carers and their big smiles! They have a lot of expertise in caring for Dementia sufferers and after a time it was clear that Mum felt just as secure in the company of St Theresa's staff as she did when family visited. We visited several times a week throughout the two and a half years that Mum was resident in the Home and never regretted our choice of St Theresa's Care Home. Mum died peacefully in the Home - the quality of her care sustained to the very end.

I am a friend of one of the elderly male residents who has been in the home for six years.
The care of the residents could not be improved as it is excellent.
The meals are all home cooked and varied.
It is very clean, no smells, and very homely.
I cannot visit the home as much as I would like,
but I am kept updated regularly.
It is well managed and I would have no hesitation in going there myself or recommending anyone else.

Dad came into St Theresa's Rest Home in July. He had Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia. Dad was difficult and strong willed and was very hard work, but he finally settled in after a couple of months. The carers were very kind and had a good sense of humour. His room was newly decorated and St Theresa's
Rest Home is undergoing a refurbishment. The residents seem contented and comfortable. The food is very good and cooked on the premises. If you have any problems there is always someone on hand to ask for help. Very homely.

I found the overall care for my uncle was very good - the care and support for him was excellent during difficult times for him - the staff were always there available to help him and also helped when requiring hospital/doctor visits. The management team kept me up to date with any health issues/doctors
visits and listened to any concerns I expressed. Rooms were kept very clean and were of good size. The food was all cooked on the premises to a very high healthy standard which my uncle always enjoyed. The premises is very safe with locks on all external doors. The care home is excellent value for money and I would recommend this home to anyone. The owners and staff really do care for there residents and treat people with the dignity they deserve.

My mum lived at St Theresa's home for three years, she was always clean and dressed well. She enjoyed her meals. Various members of our family visited mum regularly but did not see any regular activities taking place. The staff and the manager were always available to speak with during our visit but
at times when they were taking a resident to the toilet the staff level in the main room was very scarce. Staff need to be vigilant regarding residents sitting in the conservatory with hot sun beating down on them as they cannot move. Overall the staff are very caring.

We are sorry that we had to give you notice to take your mum from our Care Home. We did so in your mum’s best interests because she needed a Nursing Home. Although we gave one month’s notice we continued to care for her for 4 months until a vacancy arose in the Nursing home of your choice.
Most of your family’s visits were around meal times; at which times Residents’ activities are not carried out. All of our residents who currently sit in the conservatory are mobile and able.
When a resident’s abilities deteriorate, as was the case for your mum, 2 staff are required to toilet, until a suitable Nursing Home can be found for them; the staff levels in the main lounge can momentarily be lower during that short time.
Our staff are very caring. We do not employ agency staff but go to great lengths to recruit dedicated carers.

My sister started her time at St Theresa's in January 2015, recommended by someone from another home. As I live in Canada and my sister has no relatives in England to look after her needs, it has all been left up to me. I visited St Theresa's in May 2015 and was very impressed. I specifically looked
around at the cleanliness of the rooms, common areas and the residents themselves. Everything seemed to be spotless. The staff are wonderful and seem to be very caring. Since I do not live close, the Manager keeps me updated by phone and email. I would recommend this Home to others as my sister is getting the best of care.
