Viera Gray House Care Home in Barnes is a beautiful yet homely purpose-built residential care home for the older people of Richmond, South West London and beyond. It delivers exceptional care and support to people with a variety of residential needs with a separate and self-contained unit that supports those living with dementia.

It is located on a beautiful leafy suburban road just a stone’s throw from Barnes high street allowing residents to enjoy the local parks, tea rooms and coffee shops; either as part of an organised activity, with family and friends or on their own if they are able to do so.

The home has a total of 40 en-suite bedrooms broken down into 4 separate and cosy areas each with its own dining room and lounge area; there are also plentiful additional communal spaces for the residents to enjoy with each other or their visitors. All of the bedrooms are spacious and practical as you would expect from a purpose-built care home, but each room also comes with its very own tranquil and positive view that first-time visitors are always surprised by.

Although rightly proud of this lovely home, they also appreciate that the one thing that really sets them apart is the friendly team that delivers the genuinely person-centred care to each and every one of their residents that has become synonymous with all Greensleeves Care Homes. All the staff were extremely caring and compassionate during the end of life phase of my mother's life at Viera. Despite very trying circumstances, due to the various problems heaped upon Care Homes by Covid. I wish to thank them for their very considerable efforts.

I received a copy of the newsletter and I wanted to thank all the staff for their dedication and courage to have achieved this amazing result. (CQC Notification re No Deaths in the Home from COVID19). We, as family of a resident, are very grateful for the tenacity and energy in power of the direction
of the centre, in convincing all the staff and families to comply with all the restrictions for the prevention of COVID19 invading Viera Gray House. Together, with all the difficulties that these restrictions have generated in the supply, distribution, coordination of material and training of staff. This has been a mammoth task which is of course, above and beyond the actual practice of running a Care Home. I am sure that the Greensleeves organisation appreciate the extra time that you have spent securing the wellbeing of the residents, and I hope that your families have not suffered the consequences too dearly. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Congratulations!

After a bumpy start, which would have been made a lot easier if a basic induction into the home had been given, my father has settled well in Viera Gray House. His room is a good combination of pleasant and practical and being able to bring some of his own things, has helped. Every carer I have met
treats him with care and dignity, so he is now accepting of assistance with hygiene - a big step forward. I have been visiting three times a week and am grateful that Viera Gray House makes these visits as straightforward as current circumstances permit.

Viera Gray have coped exceptionally well with managing visiting during what has been a very difficult year for care homes, and still managed to provide some Christmas entertainment for its residents. Also been excellent with sorting first Covid vaccinations, even managed to get my mother in law to have
hers, no mean feat!

My mum moved into Viera Gray House in November 2020 initially for a respite stay - she was very apprehensive about the move, made all the more worrying by having to self-isolate when she first arrived due to Covid.
However, right from the beginning, all the staff at Viera Grey were kind welcoming and
friendly - we had every confidence that my mum was safe and being looked after and she soon settled in. Every time I have visited she has said how kind everyone is, how comfortable she is and how she is enjoying the lovely food!
At my last visit, she told me she now thinks of it as her home and would be very happy to stay, so she is going to become a permanent resident. She feels very welcome and included, and the staff have made huge efforts to enable us to visit safely and keep in touch - plus keeping all the residents well entertained over the festive period.
I cannot recommend it highly enough - we consider ourselves very lucky to have found such a lovely place for my mum to be.

My mother has lived at Viera Gray for over two years. The staff have looked after her with great kindness and patience. Until the Covid crisis, the family was always welcome to visit whenever we wanted and we very much enjoyed getting to know the carers and residents and taking part in events. This
year they have done a brilliant job in keeping the residents safe and happy and have worked hard to enable Covid-safe visiting. I thoroughly recommend this friendly and cosy care home and very much admire their individual-centred dementia management policy.

After months in the hospital, my father went to Viera Gray which we had heard good reports of from a friend. I am so glad we chose this home because of the kindness and common sense shown by all the staff. Their values are reflected in their friendly faces and a committed team that one could get to
know. Whenever I phoned, whoever answered, always knew who my father was and what state he was in. I was particularly impressed by their behaviour through the lockdown when one was unable to visit. Small requests were always happily received and great kindness shown to both myself and my father.

My sister-in-law moved to Viera Gray House in July 2019 after a month in hospital. Sadly, she suffers from dementia but has never asked us when she is going to return home or why she is there. She settled in well and accepted her new surroundings and soon began to put on weight, having become painfully
thin whilst living on her own.
The staff at Viera Gray House are always cheerful, smiley and welcoming. Their kindness and patience with my sister-in-law and other dementia residents seems unending and is of the highest possible quality.
We are full of admiration for what the entire staff do in normal circumstances and even more so during the recent pandemic, which must have been a terrifying time for everyone. The long hours they have worked and the care given certainly went over and above the call of duty and my husband and I have always felt that my sister-in-law was, and continues to be, in the best possible hands.
A very big thank you, once again, to all the staff.

We would recommend Viera Gray without hesitation to anybody looking for a lovely light-filled, cosy purpose-built care home for themselves or their loved one. It is where I would choose to live myself. The team is dedicated and professional, the residents are treated as individuals with empathy, warmth
and good humour. It was a very difficult decision to move my mother out of our shared home and into Viera Gray but we are thrilled to see how well-settled she is. She adores all the staff and has made many new friends. They have dealt with the unprecedented pressures, extra work-load and uncertainty of this recent pandemic with resilience, professionalism and unfailing good humour. They go above and beyond expectation in their support of my mother's individual needs and in helping ensure my and my daughters' visits with my mother through the reception window are positive and meaningful for us all. We're not allowed to mention names in this review but we thank you one and all.

My father was a resident during the Covid-19 crisis when the staff were under extreme pressure. Regardless, they took him in when his home care providers could no longer cope.
During his short period at Viera, he was extremely well cared for. He enjoyed the days in the garden and commended the food
and activities. His last two days were difficult for the family, but staff were so considerate of our needs, that we were able to spend time with him.

Viera Gray House is a wonderful care home with very caring and professional staff. My father-in-law received excellent care throughout his time there, and we always felt that all the residents were very well looked after and were largely happy despite their very challenging medical conditions.
The
food was always excellent (even for visitors) and the garden is a wonderful oasis of calm in the middle (despite the planes flying overhead regularly). The building is also very well maintained by the handyman who was always ready to help hang pictures and do other chores to make the resident's rooms more like a home from home.

My Mother came to Viera Gray in October initially for a period of respite care. As this was my Mother's first experience of a care home, we felt quite unsure as to whether this would be the right move for her and whether she would settle in ok. We have found the staff to be very caring and kind, something
which sounds quite minor but really is incredibly important when you are leaving a loved one in someone else's care. My Mum has settled in well here and it is a testament to the staff that we have extended her stay beyond the respite period.
Viera Gray has the advantage of being smaller than other care homes and it seems that they are able to get to know the residents and provide a more personal level of care. Each member of staff has taken the time to get to know my Mum and establish a rapport with her. This has been very reassuring and we hope it continues in the coming months.

Carers knew me and my family and my mother (the resident very well). Mum was happy. She was treated very well and known to all as a person. Rooms a bit bare, but I'd rather have decent people caring for Mum than fancy fixtures. Excellent place - and I could visit when I liked. We felt really welcome
there. Mum's overall health improved (but sadly her dementia would not). She died on 22/9 and the carers were welcome at her funeral.

Both my parents have lived at Viera Gray, and I am extremely happy with the care. Any complaints we've had over the years have been dealt with swiftly. Some of the carers are just angels - their patience, love and tolerance frequently amaze me. It is completely genuine as relatives/friends can turn
up at any hour unannounced. Although it took my mother a while to settle in, it gives me such comfort to know that she is truly cared for. Some of the demands of caring are truly enormous - dementia often leaving people violent, angry and doubly incontinent. I am constantly flabbergasted with the grace of these people. Recently, the home has received a makeover which has vastly improved the cleanliness and general ambience.
A huge thank you to all at Viera Gray, you should be on bankers salaries.

The home is friendly and well run. Complaints are taken seriously and every effort is made to give residents a decent quality of life. The attitude of the staff is benign and loving, even when provoked by the challenge of caring for those who are aggressive and difficult. I like the attitude taken to
relatives and visitors, even those with pets. It is an easy-going atmosphere within the home. Both parents have been given a good quality of life given the nature of the disease.

My mother had to go from hospital straight to a care home with only a few days notice, so there was no lengthy choosing process. I acted on instinct and the feeling of trust that I felt from the first phone call, they assess the needs first, this reassured me it wasn't a one size fits all. My mum arrived
after 4 months in hospital going from a size 14 to a size 6 and hardly eating or smiling. 7 weeks later she's put weight back on, is smiling and laughing again. My family and I are able to take comfort in the fact she is so well cared for when we cant be there.
