Viera Gray House Care Home in Barnes is a beautiful yet homely purpose-built residential care home for the older people of Richmond, South West London and beyond. It delivers exceptional care and support to people with a variety of residential needs with a separate and self-contained unit that supports those living with dementia.

It is located on a beautiful leafy suburban road just a stone’s throw from Barnes high street allowing residents to enjoy the local parks, tea rooms and coffee shops; either as part of an organised activity, with family and friends or on their own if they are able to do so.

The home has a total of 40 en-suite bedrooms broken down into 4 separate and cosy areas each with its own dining room and lounge area; there are also plentiful additional communal spaces for the residents to enjoy with each other or their visitors. All of the bedrooms are spacious and practical as you would expect from a purpose-built care home, but each room also comes with its very own tranquil and positive view that first-time visitors are always surprised by.

Although rightly proud of this lovely home, they also appreciate that the one thing that really sets them apart is the friendly team that delivers the genuinely person-centred care to each and every one of their residents that has become synonymous with all Greensleeves Care Homes. Caring, clean, and their knowledge of the resident is all evident. Carers and management took time to explain to both the resident and family. They have taken on the resident's well-being and as a result, the resident is already improving. Thank you.

Our first experience was meeting the Manager. He was very helpful and has changed what we expected, visiting my sister in the hospital to explain her stay in Viera Gray House. She took up residence on Friday 1/9/17 and has settled in really well.

All the staff have been very welcoming and friendly. The house and its grounds are well maintained and overall there is a very calm atmosphere. I'm confident that my mum will be well looked after and cared for here.

My Grandfather seems happy and he is always well kept. He loves the food and the Garden. Every time I visit, he is up washed and shaved almost like he used to look before going to work. Staff seem very friendly and Dad gets on well with other patients.

A humane, small and caring community within which elderly residents can thrive, and retain a sense of self. Very lucky to have my step-father in the care of Viera Gray House.


There is a lovely courtyard garden, TV, and a new activities coordinator, who spends time with the residents 4 days a week.

The residents live in small 'family' units of 6 -9 people, with a kitchen and living room, in which they can spend their days so do not feel too lonely; they are not isolated in their rooms. Some of the food lacks imagination, but no one goes short, and they are encouraged to drink plenty of hot beverages.

My eighty-five year old mum has been a happy and contented resident at Viera Grey for the last five years after finding living on her own increasingly difficult. The atmosphere at Viera Grey is comfortable, cosy, warm and welcoming – and above all, unthreatening for all the residents who no longer want
a lot of change in their lives. The staff are unfailingly committed and caring, and are always cheerful, friendly and supportive.


The situation of the home is ideal, as it is set in lovely gardens, as well as having a central courtyard where the residents sit out in summer. The layout helps residents to spend time with others with whom they have become friends – and the approach of the staff very much encourages this as Viera Grey is considered very much to be the residents own home. There is also a strong engagement with the relatives in decisions regarding the home and its residents. And most important of all - mum is happy and well looked after.
