Welcome to Pinehurst Care Centre in Berkshire. Situated in the leafy village of Crowthorne, the well-maintained facility offers 24-hour care for people over the age of 65, and in particular those living with Dementia. They are blessed with a long-serving team of support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. They offer short-term and long-term, respite and post-operative care.

Pinehurst comprises 47 en-suite bedrooms, split across 3 houses. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home. While bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the bright and attractive lounge areas offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the home's guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite films.

At Pinehurst, they encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of their activities take place within the home environment and include garden parties, barbecues, arts/crafts and quiz nights. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a salon blow-dry and manicure or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. My mother came to Pinehurst Care Centre almost ten years ago and regarded it as her home and the staff as her second family. She was treated with kindness and care. The varied activities offered gave her much enjoyment. She made full use of the freedom to decorate her room as she wished. Pinehurst Care
Centre could not have been more helpful in gratifying her wish to die at “her home in Pinehurst”, providing a room with easy access for care and family, after facilitating her discharge from hospital. Covid shut-down was difficult but we appreciated the safe environment and the way staff managed to maintain contact, at the expense of even more effort, between family and residents. Though not technically a nursing home we have been impressed by the way staff have recognised, because of their knowledge of the resident, when prompt medical assistance was required. The staff, without exception, are to be commended for their dedication in caring for my mother cheerfully with humour. We thank them for this.

I have always found the care team to be very kind and understanding towards all the residents, sometimes in very difficult and challenging situations. They go far beyond what could normally be expected to make residents' lives as enjoyable as possible, giving up their own time and working for a pittance

My mother has been in the dementia unit at Pinehurst for 18 months following a debilitating stroke. She is unable to speak coherently and therefore communication is limited and her difficulties have been challenging for the staff. However, they have managed her care with the utmost kindness and professionalism.
Pinehurst are a friendly team overseen by an experienced and caring manager. I have peace of mind that mum is well looked after, always clean and well-fed and the excellent activities team always include her wherever possible. I have been so pleased with my choice of care home and I have no hesitation in recommending Pinehurst. A big thank you to all the staff who have cared for mum throughout these challenging times.

My mum has been in Pinehurst Care Centre for approximately 10 years and she has been so well cared for. Firstly in the residential side and laterly in Pine House the dementia wing and except for the last two years due to the pandemic, we have always been welcomed and found the staff to be professional,
caring and friendly. My mum is now receiving palliative care so I am now able to visit daily. The manager and caregivers have gone above and beyond in treating my mum with dignity and to feel safe and comfortable. I can fully recommend Pinehurst Care Centre as a first-class care home with confidence.

A lovely care home. Staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Residents are well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. Excellent attitude from all staff I have dealt with, phone calls and emails answered promptly. Very helpful in dealing with visits to my mother who is hard of hearing and doesn't see too well. When not contacting directly, their webpage keeps me up to date with activities.

I have been here three months and I am getting used to my surroundings. I am very happy with the staff, all are very helpful. The food is variable. As I am getting older, I felt I couldn't look after myself but this is the best thing for me.

I have been visiting weekly for about eight years. Extremely friendly staff and management, nothing is too much trouble. When changes needed to be made the utmost care was taken to granny what was happening and why. Visiting is easily arranged and staff happy to help, not to mention keeping in touch
via video calls, and photos and videos on Facebook. The care and compassion from all staff is amazing, with a wide range of activities. I simply can't recommend Pinehurst enough and you efforts are very much appreciated by all the family!

During the past weeks, we have faced the sad and difficult time of my Dad's end of life. All the staff gave their continual care, respect and love throughout, showing genuine emotion and sadness. They gave us the support we needed to be able to spend time with him and say goodbye. Pinehurst became another
family to my Dad, especially in this last year with visiting restrictions due to Covid. Knowing he was well cared for, entertained and happy, made the situation easier to cope with. I cannot praise or thank Pinehurst enough for all they did for my Dad in his last 3.5 years.

Our Dad has very recently died after three and a half years as a resident of Pinehurst Care Centre. We have always appreciated the high level of care that Dad received and how his contentment was such that he saw staff as his new family when Alzheimer's took its toll on his memory.
It has been a moving
experience to watch how all the staff involved cared for him in his last days and very comforting to know that he was in such devoted hands.
Of course, this year has been difficult for everyone as we all negotiated our way through this pandemic disease but I cannot think of any stone that management or staff left unturned to keep residents safe and families in touch with their loved ones.
I am deeply thankful for the wonderful care and fun that was brought to Dad and for the staff's commitment to always go the extra mile.

My care background started in 1986 after I had my children. I worked in a large nursing home as a Senior Carer working nights. NVQ 1 was introduced I started studying to further my knowledge. In 1991 I moved out to Berkshire and worked at a local care home for twelve years where I continued to progress my education completing NVQ 2,3,4 and my R.M. Award. After this, I was given the opportunity to work at a specialist Dementia care home as their Centre Manager in a turnaround role. I did this for two and a half years before joining the Pinehurst Care Centre in 2009 where I have had the most wonderful journey and met some incredible people along the way.

I have worked at Pinehurst since 2014 after I had my children. I was looking for a part-time job that fitted in with my life. Little did I realise that Pinehurst would become such a huge part of my life. Every resident becomes part of our family. I love getting to know everyone and to help them realise that life in a care home can be fun and exciting and that there are still many things they can learn and new experiences they can have. One of my favourite moments was when one of our residents who was 103 at the time was having her hair done by our hairdresser and I had organised for an Alpaca to visit the home. She turned to me and said, "Well that is a first, I have never seen an Alpaca walk into a hairdressers!"


Nothing here is too much trouble and we love learning new hobbies and adding more ideas to our schedule. We enjoy regular Zumba and Pilates sessions, we have a range of entertainers, we love animal therapy, reflexology and also enjoy arts and crafts. We have a lovely garden for anyone with green fingers, or a pub in the garden with a TV to catch up on sporting events.
