Welcome to Pinehurst Care Centre in Berkshire. Situated in the leafy village of Crowthorne, the well-maintained facility offers 24-hour care for people over the age of 65, and in particular those living with Dementia. They are blessed with a long-serving team of support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. They offer short-term and long-term, respite and post-operative care.

Pinehurst comprises 47 en-suite bedrooms, split across 3 houses. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home. While bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the bright and attractive lounge areas offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the home's guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite films.

At Pinehurst, they encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of their activities take place within the home environment and include garden parties, barbecues, arts/crafts and quiz nights. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a salon blow-dry and manicure or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. Well done management and staff at Pinehurst for a great job keeping everyone safe and well throughout these difficult times, and for keeping us in touch via phone, video, window and door visits, not to mention the regular photos and videos on Facebook. Your efforts are much appreciated, especially as
you have families of your own. Mum's doing well at 106, and you've looked after her for a long time!

My mother has been at Pinehurst for 3 years, after being diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s. I was initially concerned about how she might deteriorate after leaving the familiar routines of her own home, but instead, she enjoys the stimulation and company of her new environment. Besides its location,
we chose Pinehurst because the intimate size of the facility makes for a more homely feel. We were also impressed by the professional and friendly manner of the Centre Manager and her team. Her direct involvement with both residents and families alike helps create a caring and inclusive atmosphere. All the staff make my mother feel part of the Pinehurst family and she never fails to tell us how happy she is. During this year of Covid a safe environment has been maintained which is very reassuring. As my family and I live in Australia, we appreciate being able to call her any day of the week. It is never too much trouble and we have also had some great video calls. Thank you Pinehurst!

My father was a resident at Pinehurst Care Centre for 9 years. The standard of care that he received throughout his time at Pinehurst was excellent. All the staff at Pinehurst built a strong relationship with him and treated him with genuine affection. The activities staff work tirelessly to keep the
residents engaged and entertained which has been no mean feat since the onset of the covid pandemic. Pinehurst's management of the pandemic in keeping their staff and residents safe has been exemplary with no cases at all. This is not down to luck, it is due to the management making hard decisions and making them early. While Pinehurst is not blessed with the facilities of a newer building, they easily make up for this with the standard of the care they provide and the professionalism and compassion with which it is delivered. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

From our first visit to see if the care home would be suitable for our mother, we were met with friendliness, concern and kindness. It was the right decision to place our mother here. The kindness and excellent care has continued. Communication between the Home and our family has been exceptional. During
the lockdown period, the staff have gone beyond their care of duty to keep us in touch with our Mum and that has been a huge relief to us. Mum is happy and well, thank you all.

My mother had a nasty fall, which resulted in her having a hip replacement. She struggled very much after this, which ultimately resulted in her death. The staff were absolutely wonderful, dedicated, caring and could not have done more for her, especially as covid-19 made it difficult for us, as we
were not able to go into see her.

The quality of care at Pinehurst is excellent. The staff go above and beyond to provide a safe, caring, fun environment despite the covid restrictions. My mum is very happy at Pinehurst, and although she is not very sociable, she does occasionally participate in activities. Since lockdown, it has been very hard on everyone, I have had some wonderful WhatsApp video calls as well as window visits more recently. Staff are very friendly and spend lots
of time with the residents.

During the time Mum has been at Pinehurst she has taken on a new lease of life and become more active and outgoing. This has to be due to the care, kindness and social activities arranged by the manager and all her staff. Nothing has been too much trouble and all the residents are treated like family.
During
lockdown, they are still enjoying a range of activities which have been shared on their Facebook page for families to see, and video calls have also been arranged so that we can talk to Mum. Thank you to all the staff for all you do for your residents.

"Lockdown" has tested care home to the limit. In my experience, Pinehurst has gone the extra mile in safeguarding and protecting the residents from Covid-19. Whilst I haven't been allowed to visit my mother in person, Pinehurst have encouraged video calls as well providing daily social media updates/videos
of the daily activities inside Pinehurst. As a result, it has been very reassuring. I cannot think what else Pinehurst can do, other than to continue the very high quality and standards under the leadership of the home manager.

Both parents were initially in another care home for respite after my dad became ill. Sadly he passed away and the other home did not suit our Mum. Pinehurst had been recommended and we moved Mum at the end of February. I am so glad we did! She has settled and is happy, busy with activities and exercises;
it is clear she is well cared for.

My mother has been a resident for approximately 3 years when she fell ill and it was clear it would be a life-limiting condition. Pinehurst agreed to have her back from hospital and look after her until the end as , I quote, she was family. They looked after her wonderfully well with great compassion
which made her last few days comfortable and peaceful. I cannot thank all the staff enough for the care they gave her.

I spent a month at Pinehurst Care Centre for respite care. I was well looked after and everybody was very helpful and friendly. The day and night staff were very caring and nothing was too much trouble. They made sure I had the right medication at the right times. There were activities every day and
I could take part if I wished. My room was small but comfortable and I could have all my music CDs and DVDs in my room. The food was good and varied. I will be happy to come again when my wife needs a break.

In the 6 years that my mother-in-law has been a resident of Pinehurst Care Centre, she has always been treated with dignity and respect. In recent years her dementia has deteriorated but this has not changed the standard of care provided by the staff at Pinehurst, even though her condition is much more
challenging. Our visits have always been unannounced so as to provide us with a true insight on life in the home. I am particularly impressed with the quality of the activities and entertainment provided for the residents, and the standard of decor/cleanliness in Pinehurst. My mother-in-law is 95.

We are very happy with the care that mum is receiving. We had a difficult year and it became clear in the summer that we could no longer care for mum at home. The staff at Pinehurst are outstanding and mum is clearly happy, settled and well looked after. I would not hesitate to recommend Pinehurst to

My wife has Alzheimer's and has been at Pinehurst since late last year. Her limited mobility became very difficult for me to care for her at home. She had stayed at Pinehurst for a respite break previously and I was relieved to know that she would receive excellent care as a resident.

My care background started in 1986 after I had my children. I worked in a large nursing home as a Senior Carer working nights. NVQ 1 was introduced I started studying to further my knowledge. In 1991 I moved out to Berkshire and worked at a local care home for twelve years where I continued to progress my education completing NVQ 2,3,4 and my R.M. Award. After this, I was given the opportunity to work at a specialist Dementia care home as their Centre Manager in a turnaround role. I did this for two and a half years before joining the Pinehurst Care Centre in 2009 where I have had the most wonderful journey and met some incredible people along the way.

I have worked at Pinehurst since 2014 after I had my children. I was looking for a part-time job that fitted in with my life. Little did I realise that Pinehurst would become such a huge part of my life. Every resident becomes part of our family. I love getting to know everyone and to help them realise that life in a care home can be fun and exciting and that there are still many things they can learn and new experiences they can have. One of my favourite moments was when one of our residents who was 103 at the time was having her hair done by our hairdresser and I had organised for an Alpaca to visit the home. She turned to me and said, "Well that is a first, I have never seen an Alpaca walk into a hairdressers!"


Nothing here is too much trouble and we love learning new hobbies and adding more ideas to our schedule. We enjoy regular Zumba and Pilates sessions, we have a range of entertainers, we love animal therapy, reflexology and also enjoy arts and crafts. We have a lovely garden for anyone with green fingers, or a pub in the garden with a TV to catch up on sporting events.
