We came here on April 12th 2018 and were made very welcome. We were originally upstairs but as vacancies occurred, we were moved downstairs into adjoining rooms which we appreciate very much, using one room more like a sitting room with relaxing chairs and TV but sleeping separately. We are very comfortable
and settled.

Mum has only recently become a resident at Meadowbank but I have no concerns whatsoever, in fact, I can only praise the staff for their caring, kind, compassionate, encouraging what they have helped mum. She has not really settled so far but I believe the staff have gone way beyond the norm trying to
make her feel at home at Meadowbank.
Mum's room is lovely and looks out onto the garden with full-length windows which is what sold Meadowbank to me. Mum loved her garden at home and I know that she is not just looking at four walls when in her room. The carers involve the residents in regular activities which always seem to go down well and this has included potting plants for the garden.
Because Meadowbank has a smaller number of residents, it feels much more homely rather than a "care home". The staff have kept the family updated regularly with any problems and they have also made the family very welcome whenever we visit, they make a lovely cup of tea.

Having had no experience of residential care homes I am happy to say that I was very happy to see my aunt settled and content in her new home. The staff are friendly and open and treated the residents with respect and dignity. There is an atmosphere of homeliness and warmth. I feel that my aunt is well
cared for and safe.

I placed my Aunt here in January 2018. We had previously tried two other homes near to her hometown in Yorkshire so we were able to benchmark the quality of care she had previously received and their respective environments. This care home has exceeded our expectations by far. The environment is a calm
and pleasant one and the staff are wonderful, patient and caring.

I cannot praise enough the care given to my mother since her arrival 5 months ago. Since then she has had a spell in hospital and her general health deteriorated. On her return, the staff have been so caring, ensuring that she was as comfortable as possible. Nothing has been too much trouble. She is
very content and is happy in her new home.

My mother moved to Meadowbank following a poor experience at a different care home. She has been warmly welcomed as part of the "Meadowbank family" and receives a high level of care, support and attention. Her changing needs are recognised and understood and her comments are taken on board by the team.
She is happy and well cared for. There is a lovely, homely atmosphere at Meadowbank and it is refreshing to see how much patience and carers show my mother. Thank you.

This is a small and very homely home. Residents always seem respected and well attended. They are encouraged to take part in activities and families are made to feel welcome on ordinary visits and the special events. They are also encouraged to attend regular meetings to have input into the care provided
and how it is delivered. My mother-in-law has been there for three years and the staff have always been attentive and friendly and put themselves out to help. It is not the poshest looking of homes but it has a real welcome there.

Meadowbank is an exceptional care home. My mum lived here for two and a half years up until August 2017 when she passed away.
The care my mum received was excellent from all the staff. As a close relative and a “voice” for mum I always felt listened to.
Visiting was unlimited and I was always made
to feel very welcome and part of this large family. Nothing was too much trouble.
I always felt reassured that mum was safe and well cared for and for this I will always be grateful.
I miss my mum greatly but I also miss the lovely people that she shared this time with. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident since February 2017. She has settled in very quickly due to the friendly loving and caring staff. I am so happy to finally see my mum happy and contented where she is. Any problems health wise with mum are quickly seen to and I am kept informed at all times.

When we

visit mum, we are made to feel welcome and part of this growing family that is in the care home. The staff are a joy to be around and take good care of everyone.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.433)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.433) out of 10 for Meadowbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.533 for Meadowbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.533

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowbank Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
