The staff are so lovely at Murdoch House. Mum has been here for 4 years now and they all go over and above their call to help make her comfortable. I can’t thank them enough. They are all fantastic. A special shout out to one member of staff, in particular, who is an angel in disguise.

Having had to relocate my mother, who is 99, I was worried about how she would adapt to the move. I need not have worried as everyone, from the manager and the rest of the staff, have been brilliant in making her feel at home and caring for her every need, including medical attention. They have shown
so much compassion, empathy and love to her and keeping in touch with us, especially with the COVID situation, on how she was coping with the changes. I think if ever I was in need of care in the future I could do not better than moving to Murdoch House. I am so thankful to all of the staff for their professionalism especially in this difficult time., Many thanks, Murdoch House, god bless. I can say no more!

Mum has been at Murdoch House for just over two years. I looked at eight other homes before moving Mum and chose Murdoch House because of the friendly staff and homely atmosphere as soon as I walked in.
Mum was initially reluctant to move – believing that she did not need care – but she has settled
well and is very happy. I cannot fault the care and attention she has received; all the staff are so kind, dedicated and patient, and nothing is too much trouble. It is a relatively small home, with a core group of staff who have been there all the time that Mum has, so they know her (and the other residents) very well and this has certainly helped Mum. Communication has been brilliant, especially during the Covid crisis when visits weren’t allowed, and I receive regular updates. Equally, if I have any questions, I know I can just pick up the phone and the matter is resolved very quickly.
All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the home.

My mum has been in the care home for nearly two years, and during all of that time, I cannot fault the staff for their dedicated and wonderful care they have given to mum. They have always been extremely welcoming to me, informative, friendly (but professional) and approachable. A core group of staff
have been consistent during the time mum has been with them - this has helped mum settle, build lovely relationships with them and feel happy - feels like a little 'family' around her.

The home has been brilliant with my mum during the recent Covid crisis.
They formed a close knit and effective team to look after the residents at what was a very difficult time.
She was helped to cope with being confined to the home and not seeing relatives by their kindness and good will.
The
care workers treat her as a person and always find time to talk to her.
If we or she has a problem they take it seriously and try to solve it.

My Dad stayed at Murdoch House for the last 7 weeks of his life. He was made very comfortable and looked after very well. It was no trouble when he wasn't eating due to his cancer. They offered him whatever he fancied eating. He had a lovely room that had doors that opened into the garden.

I have stayed at Murdoch House twice, once in May and December 2018. On each occasion, I was met by friendly staff and management. I was treated with courtesy, dignity and respect. Although I was only there on respite care, I was treated as one of the permanent residents. I would definitely stay there
again and recommend it to any of my family and friends. Keep up the good work you are doing.

Christine Poulter

Job Title: Home Manager

Christine has been in the care sector for over 30 years. She loves seeing the bond between the residents and the team, and all of the fun that they have.


She began her career in care as a cook. She went on to become a carer and gain her NVQ qualifications. She got her first position in management in 2014. She is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ CQC rating in the last two homes that she has managed.


During her spare time, Christine enjoys reading, travelling and being with her granddaughter. She had previously skydived and had learnt to drive a bus.


Words of encouragement for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Look for somewhere that feels like an extended home. Look out for staff that are happy in their work.”
