My friend unexpectedly had to go into this care home, following a number of falls, just as the Covid pandemic started. All the staff I have come into contact with at the home have been very helpful and friendly. The standard of cleanliness at the home is excellent and offers excellent value for money.
Most importantly, my friend is very happy at the home.

My mum has been living at The Croft Care Home since January 2020. When lockdown happened, the team at The Croft went out of their way to make sure we could keep in contact. The whole team are friendly and very caring, the bedrooms are large and comfortable and the communal areas are welcoming. The food
is delicious and wholesome - Mum is always eating! I can't recommend The Croft highly enough.

My mother has been a resident at The Croft Care Home for three years. During this time the care that she has received has been second to none. She is very happy within the community in the home and is very appreciative of the care and friendship she receives from all of the staff. The Covid-19 pandemic
has been tough on residents, relatives and staff alike. I commend all at the staff for their efforts to maximise the safety of everyone. Mum is now approaching her 101st birthday and my family is convinced that her longevity is due, in no small way, to the high quality of life that she enjoys at The Croft.

Mum became a resident at The Croft in Sept' 2020. She has Alzheimer's and chronic arthritis. Prior to this, she'd lived with my wife and me for a year as she was no longer able to live alone. Sadly, it had become obvious professional care was needed and, as my mother-in-law was already a resident, we
had no hesitation in choosing The Croft.
When Covid restrictions allowed, I visited her in The Croft garden, and I'd call a mobile at other times so we could talk. From that, it was soon obvious that she'd settled in happily. Thereafter, it was also obvious the care, and company were having a very positive effect. This was confirmed by the staff, and the peace of mind that gave us was wonderful.
In December 2020, Mum had a fall, requiring hospital admission. This was handled very efficiently by the staff, who kept me informed throughout. Unfortunately, the fall had serious consequences meaning she now needs nursing care.
Thanks to all at The Croft for everything they did for Mum.

My Mum settled into this home despite initial reservations really well. The staff was respectful, caring, and empathetic. They worked very hard and anticipated her needs well, understanding Mum's character and wishes and always tried to reflect this in the way that they cared for her. They treated her
like a member of their own family. They gave her fantastic end of life care and were so very kind to my sister and I at the time, looking after us as well.

My mother has only been at The Croft for five months, and I am very pleased with all the care she receives from all of the staff. She has grown very fond of them already. All my fears of putting her into much-needed care, due to her dementia have now gone; due to the amazing staff. Thank you to all
at The Croft.

When I came to The Croft I had lost 2 stone, that was in November 2018. They had got me a lot better from my bowel problem and have weight back on. The chefs do different lunches that I like as I am very fussy.
All the staff are very nice, kind and caring.

I am very pleased with my parent's care, she is looked after consistently and with care.
She has dementia so has needs that arrive from that and also lymphoedema.
I would like her to be taken into the garden that The Croft has (as advertised) as fresh air, bird sound etc can only be beneficial.
Perhaps
the staff need to be motivated to use the garden more.
Perhaps a few more activities as my mother really enjoyed the Elgiva trip (local theatre).
Also, use her bus pass?

From the day my Mother arrived she was given a lovely room which remained hers until she passed away. The staff were so caring and respectful and she grew very fond of them. The facilities were exceptional with lots of activities and sing-alongs. The food was all cooked onsite and the families were
always offered a meal if we were there. The home was clean and beautifully maintained. Some of the staff will be attending my Mother's funeral and I am honoured to have them there. A big thank you to The Croft.

Since my mother joined The Croft in November 2017 she has been a different person. She suffers from dementia and life was very hard for her and her husband she is now happy every time we visit and the staff say she is a very positive member of the "family at The Croft". Personal care and eating were
impossible but now she is being attended to her every need. Also, her dressings were never changed at home but everything is very well looked after.

Am pleased to note the considerable efforts by the staff to settle Mum into The Croft. Their willingness to discover Mum's character, past way of life, likes and dislikes is very encouraging. The overall aims and policy of The Croft is very well managed and run.

I found that the care given to my Mother was very good, with very friendly, caring and professional staff. I am sorry that she has to leave there now, but that is because her needs have increased, and they don't have the facilities to cope with them.

My relative's view of care homes was that they lock the door and throw away the key. Nothing could be further from the truth. This home treated my relative with dignity and nothing was too much trouble. The home has a new manager who at once brightened up the paintwork, inspired staff and her door is
always open to listen to relatives and residents. If I had to go into a home when I get older this is where I would like to go.

The Croft has improved immensely over the past year. There is now less agency staff which has more continuity for the residents. Most of the carers are sensitive to the resident's needs. Some areas could be improved, such as resident's hygiene (e.g. Feet, between toes)

In our experience with The Croft we are very pleased with the way our mother is being treated. The staff are very friendly and caring and we are pleased with the way she has settled in, as she has dementia it was not easy for them but she now looks upon it as her home.

Was very happy to see that the staff had organised a tea party to celebrate the queen's birthday. They had a raffle and the food was lovely and plentiful, all the staff were joining in with the residents and had ice creams and plenty to drink.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.125)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.125) out of 10 for The Croft Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for The Croft Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.833

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.292 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Croft Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.167

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
