The Old School House was built in 1874 by the Rothschild family and was used as a school divine services on Sundays for boys and girls of the village from 1902. The Old School House was established into a residential home for the elderly in 1984.

The present owner took over the business in 2006 and the home received extensive refurbishment. Care was taken to restore and maintain the original wonderful character of the building, including keeping the magnificent, original archways stained glass window chapel doors. There is a huge lounge and dining room and the home has been upgraded and improved yearly, which is ongoing. The team aim to provide a friendly, caring home with 11 bedrooms.

The team at The Old School House do not want to impose any routines and acknowledge that residents come from all walks of life and have made valuable contributions to society in their own unique ways. The team would love to get to know you and learn about your past life experiences.

The Old School House has a part time Activities Co-ordinator and offers a variety of games and activities. They also offer residents daily walks to the local shops as well as focusing on one to one activities.

The team like to get family members involved as much as they, including family parties throughout the year. They always make every effect to accommodate residents' religious beliefs and practices and currently hold a service in the home once a month for those who have requested this service.

The Old School House has a local GP practice that provides care for residents as well as access to district nurses and other professionals as and when this is required.

The team offer 24 hour care support and assistance, creating positive relationships between staff and families and residents to built trust loyalty and respect.

Every aspect of care is delivered with respect and a great deal of love and compassion. It is a happy, well-run home, and the staff are all great.
The quality of food is superb, and so much attention is given to each and every resident.
I feel very reassured and confident in all dealings with the
home and am so grateful for the care my parents receive.

The Old School House has given my mother-in-law a home-from-home. The care she has been given is second to none.
Christmas was made very special for the residents by giving them a lovely party for family and friends. Christmas was lovely, with a special dinner and treats.
We can rest in the knowledge
that she is happy and safe in their care.

From the first day, my mum has been treated with respect and dignity, by very warm, caring staff. We have pleasure visiting my mum, not only by seeing her, but the environment she and the other residents are living in, it feels like a family. The activities are well thought out and stimulate the residents
and us when we are visiting. All through Covid, the home has kept everyone safe by excellent management, which was a relief at a worrying time and are still alert now, for the circulating infections. The best recommendation I can make to others, is to say, my mum is happy and I know she is safe and well cared for and treated as an individual.

My mum moved into the Old School House not eating or drinking, and very weak and fragile she had ulcers on both legs for 18 months within 2 months the ulcers were healed. I was so impressed my mum has been at Old School House for 12 months and I can't believe the change, she is active, happy, eating
well and enjoying her life to the full. The staff are superb and very caring and kind and go out of their way for my mum. The management is approachable are always on hand to help the family and my mum. I am so pleased to have found this small gem of a care home.

A warm, caring home with excellent friendly staff. A management team who keeps family members informed and welcomed. I am so glad we choose Old School House. Mum has been happy living there. Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff or managers.

My mother has been looked after at Old School House since February 2021. As time has gone on my mother's dementia care needs have changed. The staff have been able to adapt to this and care for her kindly. Old School House has a real family feel to it and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming
as are the staff too.

I can feel confident that the staff are looking after my mother. She is safe and well cared for.
My mum is not a good eater due to her dementia but the home's cook will try different things to try to encourage her to eat.

The Old School House is a small care home providing accommodation for up to 12 people. The home is very welcoming and the staff are diligent and professional.
My Mother-in-Law is in her 90's, suffers from age related dementia and has been at the home for about 9 months.
She is treated with dignity
and compassion by the staff and I am kept fully informed of her welfare and requirements.
There are regular planned activities in which the residents are encouraged to participate and one to one interaction with the more frail members or those not wishing to join in. The staff are fully aware of the individual personalities and requirements of the residents and are able to tailor the support accordingly.
The meals that I have witnessed have been freshly cooked and appetising and there is always a choice of dishes.
Based on my observations, I would have no reservations in recommending the Old School House to my friends and family.

My mother was becoming more and more introverted and depressed having lived alone following the passing of my father, and after breaking her hip, she did not want to live alone. The Old School House is within 300 yards of my house, the owner and staff are so wonderful and caring and have given Mum
a new lease of life.

My mother was a resident at Old School House from late December 2014 until April 2017.
The home is small, with only 10 or 11 residents and an excellent staff to resident ratio, quite often there will be 4 or 5 staff on duty.
The staff are well trained and unfailingly kind, considerate and caring,
every resident is treated as an individual and valued.
The activities organiser is in the home most afternoons and has a wonderful empathic personality.
The rooms vary in size but all are well equipped and maintained. The food is varied and freshly cooked each day.
The only disadvantage is perhaps the small size of the premises, with only on common room and dining room, but there is also a garden area for summer use.

The Old School House provides a wonderful, caring service to my 99-year-old father in law.
They are very diligent in all aspects of his care and provide a lovely, homely atmosphere.
There is a daily entertainment service which is very inclusive and encourages all the residents to join in.
Only having
11 residents is a real bonus.

Nahida Arif is the proprietor/registered manager she has over 16 years of experience working in care. Nahida also worked as a carer for 3 years having hands-on experience. She has completed her level 4 in care as well as the registered manager's award. Nahida has a vast set of skills in care and healthcare problems for the residents are sorted out very quickly due to her long-term experience in the care sector. Equipped with over 10 years of experience in managing this enables her to run the business to a high standard with an excellent set of skills across the sector. Nahida also has a hand on approach at all times and is not scared of rolling up her sleeves to get down to work and cover shifts when short on the floor. Nahida also offers an open-door policy .

Zunaira Ferozdin

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2020

Zunaira started working in the care sector in 2020 after coming out of retail. She wanted to do something more rewarding and joined the old school house working on the floor and covering shifts. She worked as a carer and soon she became a valuable member of the staff. She completed her level 4 in care and is now working towards her level 5 in adult care.


She has put into place computer-based software care plans which ensure all information is recorded correctly and quickly on devices. It also frees up time for carers from the old handwritten reports and notes.


Zunaira also manages the healthcare needs of all the service users as well as medication needs and audits.
She also works alongside the home manager to ensure that all residents are getting a high standard of care. She also keeps the families informed of any healthcare changes. or support required for the residents
