White Plains is a purpose-built care home set in eight acres of manicured gardens in Denham, Buckinghamshire. Overlooking the village’s aerodrome, the home benefits from two living environments, newly-refurbished facilities, and a team of staff that work under B&M Care’s ‘Rose Model of Dementia Care’ – a unique approach to dementia care that looks at engaging, empowering and flourishing an individual who lives in the home’s care.

One of the home’s newest features is White Rose Cottage: a quintessential cottage situated in White Plains’ ‘Woodland Walk’. Characterised by a thatched roof and a traditional interior, the cottage is used not only as an area to provide engagement for residents, but can be hired by relatives to host occasions and celebrations.

White Plains has been awarded an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating [CQC: May 2019] for their commitment to celebrating an individual’s uniqueness, as well as using a person’s history and interests to provide meaningful occupation.

White Plains offers the following types of care for an older person: 24-hour long-term residential & specialist dementia care, as well as respite & convalescence care.

From the point of the first contact to the now continuing care for my mother, the service provided by White Plains has been exceptional. White Plains has a very homely feel to it which is chiefly due to all the staff there who are all friendly, caring and professional in their approach. I could not
recommend White Plains highly enough.

Auntie originally went to White Plains for respite.
When she arrived she was very malnourished and frail, because she is practically blind and was not eating properly.
She had a terrible job to administer her medication properly.
She was unable to see the drops and often missed getting them in her
eyes. She could not see which tablets she was taking and twice took the wrong ones. She also had many falls and regularly ended up in the hospital.
After a few weeks, in White Plains, she became a fitter, healthier and a happier person and also put on about a stone in weight.
She is no longer lonely as she has become friends with the other residents and the wonderful caring staff.
We knew now that she had to stay in the home, and applied in September for permanent residency, which luckily she was able to take up.
I do believe that without the care that she gets from the home she would no longer be with us.
It is also a relief for me to know that she is safe.

White Plains always smells and looks fresh and clean. Staff are friendly, caring and professional. Residents and staff are friendly, chatty and relaxed with each other and with we visitors. My friend feels at home now and enjoys the many activities and themed days plus contact with groups from the neighbourhood.
Every effort is made for a varied and interesting life for residents and visitors alike. Days out are varied and enjoyable too. The atmosphere makes White Plains a lovely place to visit.

I felt very welcome here. The staff were very kind and considerate. I liked the activities, quizzes and crosswords. I hope to come again my only thing I found difficult was my bed as I have a bad hip so next time I will bring my hopper. I enjoyed the food and the company.

I have had Parkinson's Disease for 10 years. I needed a holiday break away from my home and carers. White Plains was the perfect choice for me. I had visited twice for a tour and the warm welcome assured me I was making the right choice. The hugs on leaving made me confident that should my move need
to be permanent, the choice was made.

My mother moved into Whiteplains during 2018 having been diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. She has settled in much better than expected and this is due to the excellent care and attention from all of the staff. Her condition is relatively stable at the moment and, whilst no-one would really want to
spend their life in a care home, if they have to then Whiteplains is, I am sure, as good as it gets.
The quality of the building and surroundings is as first class as the team.
I feel that my mother is in a safe and caring environment where individuals are respected and where friends and family are made welcome.
Thank you.

This is the second time my mum has had a week's respite at White Plains in Denham. What a find! From the moment I made an enquiry, I was impressed. The management and all her staff are amazing. My mum was very happy to stay there. I would not hesitate to recommend to friends. Thank you to all of you.

A lovely home in all respects. Very well maintained with super facilities and garden. Outstanding staff - the managerial staff, in particular, were exceptionally warm, jolly and welcoming. My mother-in-law was anxious about staying but greatly enjoyed the experience. She was stimulated by good company
and activities and her stay proved to be a great tonic. Well done and thank you!

White Plains has a lovely "family atmosphere" which is underpinned by a high standard of professional and holistic care. My mother had been living alone for many years prior to taking up residence there and had become somewhat insular finding it difficult to mix. However, she settled into the home with
unexpected ease and is very happy there which is in no small part due to the care, supervision and stimulation (to include structured activities on most days) afforded by the staff.

I was a volunteer worker in both old and new White Plains for 23 years after a friend died. As soon as you walk into the home it says Welcome. I still visit another 98 year old friend of 47 years. I am 91 and still enjoy my visits there.

White Plains have provided my mother with fabulous care, compassion and companionship since she entered in August.
She is happier, more settled and content than in many years.
I cannot praise the staff, all of them, highly enough.
The addition of Perky the cat, and occasionally Bailey, the dog, have
added to Mum's wellbeing immensely too!

I am always welcomed warmly by all staff; updated on my mother's wellbeing and am grateful for the kindness. All facilities are clean and tidy, including public areas, private rooms and the gardens. The food is tasty. All in all, excellent. I love visiting my mother and see she is content, happy and
more confident in herself.

When visiting our friend we are always greeted by friendly staff. Our friend has improved greatly since living here. When living on her own she wasn't eating or drinking properly but since being in the home and having regular home cooked meals and plenty to drink she looks and sounds much better.

My father has dementia and his memory loss progresses daily. Since the day he arrived, my father has been unfailingly treated with respect and kindness. This has made his transition from his own home to a care home a good experience. Little courtesies, for example, a key to his own room has enabled
him to keep his dignity whilst fitting into a communal house. He now feels he is 'at home' in White Plains and is comfortable and content there. As a family, we have been supported by the manager and her staff and are very grateful.

My elderly neighbour and dear friend moved to this care home in August 2016 and I visit her regularly. We were sad to see her leave her home but we are delighted to find her happy and beautifully cared for. She is full of praise for the staff, loves her room and food etc is good. She also has the opportunity
to view and walk in the delightful gardens. Everything about this home is excellent, this is the description she uses over and over. We feel she has been very lucky in finding this home and wish her many years there, as we love going there too! Well done White Plains!

Following my confinement upstairs at my home for six months in the care of excellent carers and the death of my 98-year-old brother, a kind friend made a thorough tour of the care homes in an area close to my home in Uxbridge. White Plains proving to be the best in all ways.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.520)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.520) out of 10 for White Plains Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.811 for White Plains Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.811

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for White Plains Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
