White Plains is a purpose-built care home set in eight acres of manicured gardens in Denham, Buckinghamshire. Overlooking the village’s aerodrome, the home benefits from two living environments, newly-refurbished facilities, and a team of staff that work under B&M Care’s ‘Rose Model of Dementia Care’ – a unique approach to dementia care that looks at engaging, empowering and flourishing an individual who lives in the home’s care.

One of the home’s newest features is White Rose Cottage: a quintessential cottage situated in White Plains’ ‘Woodland Walk’. Characterised by a thatched roof and a traditional interior, the cottage is used not only as an area to provide engagement for residents, but can be hired by relatives to host occasions and celebrations.

White Plains has been awarded an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating [CQC: May 2019] for their commitment to celebrating an individual’s uniqueness, as well as using a person’s history and interests to provide meaningful occupation.

White Plains offers the following types of care for an older person: 24-hour long-term residential & specialist dementia care, as well as respite & convalescence care.

My mother has been in White Plains for 1 year. It took a few months for her to settle but she is now content.
The manager and all staff are very caring, pleasant and friendly. The home is very spacious, so it's easy to push mum in her wheelchair, it is always clean and we have never noticed any unpleasant
smells.
The food is excellent and varied (with a choice of menu)
On my mums 92nd birthday the chef mad her a lovely birthday cake (delicious, we were offered a slice when we visited, with a cup of tea)
There is a lovely flat garden with paths for wheelchairs and a lovely conservatory to sit in.
It is really a home from home. Also good entertainment.

Very pleasant entrance into the car park; well cared for gardens all very attractive. Always welcomed there, whoever answers the door. Feels like a good hotel, clean, comfortable and welcoming.
When we visit our friend, we are able to sit in lovely rooms and coffee is offered to us.
The calm and
comfort of the home is all-embracing so much so we would like to stay longer. Peaceful.

Great place, friendly staff, very welcoming, clean environment.
The manager always appears very involved in all matters in the home. Never too busy and is approachable.
The manager knows all residents well.
The outdoors is also very encouraging and it is busy.
I worked in the care industry as a
carer before and now am a staff nurse and pay keen attention to care facilities and identify where there is a concern.
White Plains appears very up to date with service users needs and the required care standards in the UK.
I will recommend this home to anyone needing a place for an elderly person requiring this care service.

I have been visiting my friend who is a resident of White Plains for about two and a half years and I am constantly amazed at the level of care she receives and the attitude of the staff of the home who are all so pleasant.
This is probably down to the approach of the manager who, in my experience
of a number of homes my family have been involved in as relatives/friends, is second to none.

The manager is very hands on approach to cover any loose ends. Her staff are very well chosen and are very kind and helpful and appear happy in their work. I notice that after each shift, the staff have to fill in a report on each individual resident.

There is always a warm welcome from all staff at White Plains. The staff work hard and seem happy in their work. The residents are very well cared for and cherished as individuals. As a friend of one of the residents, I am very confident in the staff's care for her in every respect. White Plains is
an outstanding example of what all care and nursing homes should be like. In my opinion, all this filters down to staff and residents from the excellent management of the home led. A good and caring manager leads to a good and caring home.

My latest visit was one of several I make from time to time simply to keep in informal touch with my friend.
I am always given a warm welcome from any members of staff I happen to meet and my friend always seems to be perfectly content with the care she is receiving.
She particularly enjoys the highlights
- special outings etc - which are arranged from time to time.
My answers in the questionnaire are, however, based on a very cursory understanding of the day to day working of the home.

White Plains care home is a delightful residential home for elderly people set in beautifully kept grounds. The home has the feel of a luxury hotel and the greeting when you are welcomed by any one of the numerous staff members from the manager, carers to the chef are incredibly warm and genuine. My
mother has been a resident at this home for a period of two years and I have always been very happy with her care. The home is very well run and you always feel that the priority of the staff comes across as being very genuine. I cannot speak highly enough of the carers at this home. 10 out of 10.

My mother-in-law was a resident at White Plains for a few years. It was such a lovely home and the care and attention from all the staff was exceptional. The manager and all the senior staff were excellent, very professional and very approachable, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere within
the home was so friendly and positive and I was always greeted with a smile. The end of life care for my mother-in-law and the support for my husband and I was wonderful. We were so fortunate to have found White Plains and we cannot thank the manager and all the staff enough for all that they did.

My mother is 93 and suffers from Alzheimer's. When my father died some 3 years ago, Mum lived alone for a while, which was her request. However, after a fall in the home, we decided we would like her to be cared for. White Plains is a lovely home and I have nothing but praise for the wonderful, caring
staff. The home itself is clean and tidy and whilst Mum would prefer her own home she seems happy and contented. She says it is a nice place to live. I would highly recommend White Plains to anyone looking for care for and elderly relative.

Our experience of White Plains has been positive in all aspects from first viewing to our mother moving in. Staff are all very caring and helpful. Mum found it difficult to settle but the staff have gone out of their way to make her feel at home. She is now well settled.

I have been visiting White Plains over a period of 18 months, each time I visit I am made so welcome by the lovely staff and management always offered tea of coffee. The premises in every area are kept immaculate and extremely clean, the lovely gardens and the setting is something out of this world.
In conclusion an extremely well-managed care home. I cannot fault it.

After mum arrived it took her a couple of months to settle, since then she has mostly been relaxed and comfortable within the care homes routine. Very pleased with the quality of staff and care she receives.

Found mum asleep in residents lounge following lunch, she, upon waking, was very responsive and pleased to see me. She was well turned out and at ease with everything. The staff were as ever responsive and updated the situation on mum to me as is usual. No adverse comments all well and good. Spent a
pleasant hour in the garden with mum. Had fresh fruit in her room and find it in good order, clean, tidy and fresh throughout. Mum is high dependence and as ever I find her content and at ease here. Well done.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.520)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.520) out of 10 for White Plains Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.811 for White Plains Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.811

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for White Plains Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
