Mum stayed recently as a respite resident at Willow. I am so grateful for the wonderful care she received. I had no concerns at all for her safety or good care. Particularly of note is that the Willow does not use agency staff, so Mum got to know the entire staff team within a couple of days. She was
also welcomed by the residents and, being a small care home, the feeling is one of a large and welcoming family. For her own reasons, Mum is sometimes unsettled and struggles with aspects of her life, and the staff team did everything they could to help her and put her at ease. They are clearly experienced and capable at relating to elderly people, and in helping with the issues that age brings. There is no downside, and I would totally recommend this care home.

My sister has been in The Willow Care Home for the past 5 Years. She has had excellent care, compassion, and love during her stay, especially during COVI when she was so ill. The Staff and Managers are very commited and their understanding is unmentionable, with showing so much dedication and dignity
to everyone. We feel so grateful that we discovered The Willow as she has been so well cared for in her later years. We would most certainly recommend The Willow as a lovely Care Home which has given all the Family peace of mind to know that she is in such safe hands and being looked after properly.

During the 3 years my mother spent at The Willow, I had no concerns at all with the care and attention she received. My mother knew that she was well cared for which helped her to settle into her new home. She often commented on how she liked the staff team, how nice they were to her, and how good she
found the food. I have always felt informed, involved and consulted of any changes to my mother and her needs during her stay, particularly those of a medical nature. The home has a 'home from home' feel to it. Visitors are welcomed at all times. Any questions are welcomed from the management and promptly dealt with. I feel fortunate that in our time of need that there was a vacancy, particularly as this occurred during the COVID outbreak.

The Willow is a small understated care home with a family feel. They have been looking after Mum for nearly two years. We chose The Willow because a strong care ethos is evident. A good proportion of the staff have been working there for several years and because there is a maximum of 11 residents,
all the staff get to know all the residents and address them by name. Whenever you visit, the residents appear neat and comfortable. The lounge is bright and looks out over a tidy garden, where residents can sit or walk depending on their capabilities. There is a program of simple activities most weekday mornings, occasional visiting speakers and performers and monthly visits from a fish and chip van. The home came under new ownership earlier this year and the care remains as good as it was, with the manager and staff all staying on. The manager is readily contactable, as are the owners. Mum is being looked after in a good place.

What attracted us to The Willow when choosing a residential home for our mother was the fact that it was small and cosy unlike other more institutionalised homes we had visited. The staff are extremely caring to her every need and our mum always looks very well cared for when we visit.
The manager
is extremely available for any queries and the communication with the relatives is excellent.
I would highly recommend the home.

I couldn't have asked for a better care home for my father to spend his last years in. The staff are excellent, friendly and caring. It has a warm and intimate atmosphere, which is helped by it being of a comparatively small size, in which the residents are very well looked after.
I can't recommend
The Willow highly enough!

Right from our first speculative visit in 2019, we had a good feeling about The Willow. The team are welcoming and friendly with great communication, and the place itself is a cosy home from home. Since mum moved in during 2021, her quality of life is much improved and I can relax knowing she is safe
and cared for at all times. Because The Willow is smaller than some homes, it really retains a personal touch and during such trying times with the pandemic, the care and dedication of the team has shone through. It was a painful and challenging decision to make the move to residential care but we couldn't have chosen a better place to suit mum's needs. As a former care assistant myself, I wish all residential care could be this lovely.

The Willow is a lovely care home which really feels like a home. The staff are committed and very caring, really getting to know and understand the needs of each and every individual in their care. The rooms are nice, bright and warm, and there is a generous lounge for residents to gather in. There
is also a lovely garden in which the residents can sit or walk when weather permits. There are regular activities arranged for the resident, and a number of services including a hairdresser and an optician that visit from time to time.

A very caring home, my mother is always happy when I visit, well dressed and clean. I feel confident leaving her in their care. My mother went into The Willow during the Covid lock down so it has been a more difficult adjustment for all the family but mum has settled very well.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.332)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.332) out of 10 for The Willow is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.732 for The Willow is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.732

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Willow is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 11 registered maximum number of service users is 2.2, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
