Lathbury Manor Care Home provides highly personalised care for residents with dementia and a wide range of other conditions associated with old age.

As a smaller home, it prides itself on getting to know its residents and relatives well and going the extra mile to meet all care and support needs.

The home is set in a converted coaching inn and has lots of character and beautiful gardens, which are always accessible to residents.

There is a tea/activity room in the gardens providing an additional space for residents and relatives when visiting or to host family parties in.

Lathbury Manor has a full programme of activities, led and coordinated by a full time activities coordinator. It has lots of visiting entertainers and trips out whenever possible to the local shops, parks and theatre.

Family seasonal parties are always a highlight of the year for residents, relatives and staff.

My mother has been living at Lathbury for over a year now. She is happy and content, loves her carers and they seem very fond of her too.
The food is healthy and tasty - the chef takes time to ask what she would like. Her clothes are well cared for and Mum always looks really well.
It is a relatively
small home, but I think that suits Mum as it means that all the residents have good access to the home and garden.
Despite the difficulties of the pandemic, Lathbury allowed visitors as fully as possible throughout as well as assisting Mum with video and phone calls. The carers/staff are always very welcoming and helpful to us.

If you want a true reflection of this care home, please check the CQC report, as you will see the report shows a poor rating and other investigations are ongoing and this can be confirmed by CQC. I myself can say my father was here for a short time and is now in hospital very sick. In my view please
keep your loved ones away from this care home, if I could I would give a 0-star rating!

Dear John S, we are sorry you were not happy with the services we provided to your father during his three-week respite stay with us. We are aware from your complaint that your main concern was the timing of your father's discharge, as was explained at the time this was not in our control, but a decision taken by the local authority who were funding your father's care. Our CQC report is in the public domain and was published for you to see before your father came to us, The CQC inspection was completed in November last year and all the actions identified at that time have been addressed by the home. I would ask any prospective families to come and view the home for themselves and read the overwhelmingly positive reviews we get from our residents and families.

A cosy home with a mature garden outside. Wonderful friendly staff with a family atmosphere. My mum has lived with them for the past two years and is very happy there. She has been well cared for and I couldn't have chosen a better home for her where I know she is safe and well cared for.

I moved in two months ago. The staff are very welcoming and supportive and helped me to settle in very quickly. The facilities are good, the garden is readily accessible and pleasant to sit and wander in. The chef discusses daily meal options with me.

After it became apparent that my parents could no longer care for themselves in their own home, the move to a care home was inevitable. With the help of the wonderful staff, my parents have settled well into Lathbury Manor and this was all achieved through the additional constraints of lockdown. My
father especially is benefitting from the social activities which have given him the much needed stimulus he was missing. The staff are helpful and caring and the setting is relaxing and quiet with access to a well managed secure garden.

Mum has really thrived since coming to Lathbury - she may be in her mid 90's, but she seems fitter and more content than ever. The staff are all very friendly and genuinely care about Mum and her well-being.

Superb place for my mother-in-law to stay. It is a clean and pleasant environment. Everyone is friendly and efficient. Mum says she's more than happy with everything and everyone. There are many ways that we are able to stay in contact or stay aware of what is going on. We, as a family, are very happy

The manager could not have been more helpful with the admission process and the care staff obviously really care about residents. It is a small home and has a family feel to it. My wife and I feel secure in the knowledge that my mother-in-law is being extremely well looked after.

Dad was very worried about moving to live at Lathbury Manor but he very quickly settled in and now states that he is happy living there. He likes the fact that there is someone around all the time to provide him with the care and company he needs. He always has a big grin on his face when the carers
talk to him and he no longer wants to live at home on his own. Lathbury is now his home.

When I phone, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Sometimes, if possible, I will be able to speak with the resident. At all times, I have found the resident to be happy, smiling and often likes to sing. When I visit, the resident is always clean and looking very neat. Because of the virus, I
am not able to go inside, but what I can see is (including the visitor's room, where I am allowed) is very clean. The resident loves the food and the activities. I have seen the resident's room once and it was very clean and nice.

Dad was anxious about making the move from his home to here, but a stay in hospital in between made the transition easier. The staff were all very helpful in helping us set up his room with some things from home. After a month, he told us he was content and after two months he was happy. The staff have
all been very friendly and helpful, and Dad seems to like everybody.

My mother moved into Lathbury in December 2020 when she could no longer safely look after herself at home with call-in carers. Due to lockdown restrictions we were unable to make pre-occupation visits to any home, so all the due diligence my sister and I completed was on line, via telephone, asking
friends and others of their experiences, thus a difficult and anxious process was made more challenging and some homes didn’t even respond to messages left. Our experience of Lathbury was excellent from the time of first contact through to my mother's transfer directly from hospital (including the prerequisite isolation period). The friendly care and attention of all staff made my mother's transfer the best experience she and we could have hoped for. They have totally appreciated the mental wellbeing of both residents and family, managing easy telephone contact with my mother and facilitating safe (non-contact) visits. My mother says she is very happy there and her being happy and safe is all we want.

My father passed his last few months at Lathbury. He had homecare as long as possible and initially moved to a new nearby larger care home with great facilities. We sacrificed the new facilities but got so much more. Lathbury is a small rest home in a tranquil setting with 23 residents. All the staff
know all the residents well, and most importantly have time to spend with them over a coffee or chat. Lathbury isn’t fancy, but it is a home from home with a lovely long-serving team who mesh well and make it special. In his previous home, my father was often found without his hearing aid or glasses - hard to address with ever-changing or missing staff; we never saw that at Lathbury. The carers took time to sit with all the residents who needed help eating and some spent time encouraging dad to play the piano which was lovely! Very glad that my father spent his last time in a home where there was genuine care. Very happy to recommend, and thank-you to the Lathbury team!
