The staff are positive, friendly and always willing to help. They have tried really hard within the current restrictions to make the days interesting with varied activities and quizzes. The rooms are bright and comfortable. Every effort is made to keep residents and families up to date with what is
happening. Really happy with everything.

My Nan was admitted for respite care in August 2020 and has recently become a permanent resident. Originally my nan wanted to go home after her respite term as she feared she would miss home too much but being in the care of Alexandra House has made her realise just how safe and happy they make her
feel. My nan is no longer lonely and has someone on hand when she is worried or just wants some company. She sees Alexandra House as her home and has no desire to leave. There are plenty of activities for my nan to choose from and they also provide an onsite Chaplain who supports her with her spiritual beliefs. She has gained weight since her admission which is something we were always worried about when she was home alone, she looks so healthy it is unbelievable. As a family, the sense of relief we feel knowing she is finally somewhere that she can call home and be cared for in her final years is overwhelming. Thank you Alexandra House for everything you do for my Nan.

My nan was living at home alone lonely, bored and losing weight. My nan went to stay at Alexandra House and wow what a difference they have made to my nan. She's happy and looking good from the Skype calls we can arrange at this time. She gets to do activities during the day and 3 lovely meals which
she loves.
Thank you, ladies and gents, for looking after my nan.

Brilliant care home, my great nan has become herself again and is getting the best care! She is doing so many activities that she had stopped doing. We also get to FaceTime my nan through this tough time and a carer will assist her with the technology. Thank you for making my nan happy again!

My expectations have been exceeded! My mother is very happy, loves the staff. The care is amazing - her health has improved greatly - what more can we wish for. Communication is very good between the office and family. We can trust we have made the best choice.

My mother has been a resident at Alexandra House for three months now and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she has received. All members of staff are very professional, caring and look after her brilliantly. The Administration Manager goes above and beyond expectations to ensure everything runs
smoothly. I would recommend Alexandra House to anybody.

My wife seems to have been looked after well during the 14 days she was at Alexandra house.
I did not enter the premises due to the Coronavirus therefore it is difficult to give a proper review. I have left blank areas that I have no knowledge of.

My husband has not been at Alexandra house long, and visits have been limited because of Covid, but all contact that I have had with the staff has been first class. My Husband seems happy, settled and has a good rapport with the carers.

My father-in-law received excellent care throughout his time at Alexandra House. It was thanks to the amazing care of the staff that he made a full recovery from his hip operation when it was touch and go. He had a good relationship with the staff and felt completely at home at Alexandra House. He always
enjoyed the food and was delighted when he was offered a sea-view room. We are immensely grateful to the staff that we were allowed to spend time with him in his final days.

I was very comfortably accommodated, and able to come and go as I wished and was able. The food was good and adequate. The dining room catered for a variety of abilities. I tried to establish a relationship with my table companions; one of which returned home; the other I was very sorry for, but I hope
I provided friendly contact, if temporary. I particularly appreciated that the staff, especially in the dining room, wore their hair tied back or piled on top of their heads.

The response from the carer team is excellent and due to the fact that my father is 90 per cent deaf whenever I phone up from abroad, they will always take the phone to him so we can try and have a chat. All of Dad's medical needs are catered for and arranged by the care team, which gives me great peace
of mind.

The staff were very helpful and managed to get Mum and Dad admitted within 24 hours on Christmas Eve. It was obviously a very quick admission and a difficult period to be entering/accepting new people into a new environment. There were a few teething problems but these were soon overcome. Overall I
was satisfied with the experience.

Alexandra House was a blessing for my nana, who stayed there for respite following a fall. The staff were kind and considerate, the welcome from all the staff was outstanding and they made us and our nana feel at ease. It was like a home from home and my nana was sad to leave but she intends to visit
again to see the friends that she made there.

The single most obvious thing that has struck me about this home is the kindness and patience the staff show towards the residents. We regularly hear "horror stories" in the media about how vulnerable people are treated in institutions. However, in the care of Alexandra House, nothing could be further
from the truth. The staff are all so lovely, keep up the good work.

My mother aged 94 has never been away from the family in a home. She came out after a week of being looked after in Alexandra House and said how much she had enjoyed all the activities that had gone on and the way she had been treated by all the staff.
I cannot thank you enough and wouldn't hesitate
in letting her return to Alexandra House.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.736)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.736) out of 10 for Alexandra House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.879 for Alexandra House is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.879

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexandra House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
