Alexandra House staff are superb! They are compassionate, caring and extremely hard working. Management is supportive and do their best to provide quality service for each individual. Concerns or requests are quickly and positively dealt with. Accommodation is luxurious, with plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Ensuite facilities are better than some starred hotels! Sea views and close proximity to shops and facilities and transport are available.

The grounds are well kept, but with poor entrance facility lying in a wind tunnel between sea and car park gives little weather protection. Food is tasty and plentiful, and help for special needs is provided. A daily menu offers a fair food choice.
The house manager keeps residents abreast of craft activities, podiatry, hairdressing visits etc. The MHA Christian ethos is unobtrusive but in evidence. A chaplain visits and holds non-obligatory services or meetings. Access to other faith is available. Alexandra House is the best I have visited and good value for its charges. It provides a Rolls Royce service to its guests!

I am so pleased to have finally moved into Alexandra House. It was a big decision for me to make but I am positive it was the right one. Being able to bring in my own furniture from my home, is a really big comfort for me, so it continues to feel like a home from home. I am positive that I will enjoy
living here.

I have been lucky enough to move into Alexandra House to be with my husband. I have a fantastic room overlooking the sea and the staff have been very nice. The food is good and if my husband is unable to make it to the dining room, we can have our meals together in his room. There is a good activity
programme but we have yet to attend as my husband does not always feel up to this. Overall I am very happy to be here at Alexandra House.

Fantastic views- good care are provided and always felt welcome. My aunt was there for respite and she really enjoyed her stay- staff made it positive for my aunt to return home with their support as she regained her confidence- our one and only choice of where we wanted her to stay. Thank you Alexandra
House and also MHA.

The staff are very good with my mother and patient as she can be very awkward at times.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.736)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.736) out of 10 for Alexandra House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.879 for Alexandra House is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.879

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexandra House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
