It's a lovely, friendly place, I just wish I could go out for long walks on my own. It really is a 'home from home' and I get whatever I ask for at no cost to me.

In 2018 I knocked on The Belfry's door at 8.30 in the morning to ask if they had a room available for my mum. I had only a day to find a care home as Mum was about to be discharged from hospital having broken her hip. Mum was 92 and suffering from Vascular Dementia. We were welcomed in, shown a choice
of rooms and made to feel welcome. We knew within 5 minutes this was the home we wanted for Mum. It was small, well staffed, friendly, immaculately clean and pleasant. I visited Mum unannounced on several occasions and was always impressed by the level of care and personal attention Mum was receiving. The staff were wonderful. Mum sadly passed away at The Belfry in January, they looked after her to the end. There was no suggestion that Mum should leave the home or that they couldn't meet her increasing needs. She died peacefully and respectfully and I attribute this to the care and attention bestowed on her by all at The Belfry. I am very grateful to them.

Thank you for your kind words. Your mum was a pleasure to care for, such a lovely lady.

Exceptional care has been shown to my mother-in-law over the past 3 years of her residence here. Particularly recently following 2 hospital admissions for a leg infection where her aftercare at The Belfry, encouraging her to eat normally again and remobilising her has been excellent. They always try
to involve her in as many activities as she can manage.

They always make birthdays and Christmas very special. As a family, we always feel she is in safe hands. The management team are brilliant.

My friend is treated well and the staff are very kind and attentive. Residents are offered choice and any complaints or suggestions are dealt with promptly. I overheard the management team asking residents if there was anything they wanted to order, any new foods etc or anything for their rooms.
Activities
are varied and there is a lot of laughter in the home. The lady that comes in to do music to movement is so enthusiastic and residents seem to benefit greatly from her sessions. I know I did when I joined in!
It's a pleasure to visit and have a cup of tea!

I have been a resident here for two months and was recommended this by my doctor and social worker. I have found it very restful and pleasing with the service. The relationships are held by cheerful and committed staff. Time heals and the way we spend it is kind and careful. I am thankful for the meal,
a good stout lunch and nice cooking.
My room is sweet and clean and has a TV and night staff who are kind. I can look forward to better health and the garden in spring. Hair care and entertainment are excellent too.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.738)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.738) out of 10 for The Belfry Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.938 for The Belfry Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.938

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Belfry Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 12 registered maximum number of service users is 2.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
