As you will see I have used "excellent" a lot in the review which may be excessive but I find it hard to fault the love and care my mother receives at Bings Hall. The home came highly recommended to us both by a friend with her mother there and by a friend who was a member of staff there. I believe
it benefits from having only 17 residents at most, it has a friendly and homely feel to it and the staff are very caring with a cheery word for visitors and residents alike.

There is always a friendly and happy atmosphere at Bings Hall which enables the residents to feel 'at home' and cared for. The manager and staff are attentive and kind to the residents and welcoming to visitors. My mother has a lovely room, which has just been redecorated in her favourite colour and
which has french doors opening out into the garden. It is kept clean and tidy as are all the communal rooms at Bings Hall. The food is all home cooked and the resident's likes and dislikes catered for. Visitors enjoy the tea and cakes offered! I know my mother appreciates the friendly, stimulating and welcoming atmosphere at Bings Hall. They have made every effort to maintain her dignity and self-respect.

I have been so pleased with the care my mum has received at Bings Hall during the last 6 months. The staff treat the residents with great respect, kindness and care. They are aware of their individual needs and always find time for a chat, a word of reassurance or to share a joke. There is a relaxed,
cheerful and homely atmosphere and we are always made to feel welcome when we visit, with offers of tea or coffee and homemade cake. Mum has a lovely bright room which has been recently decorated and is kept spotlessly clean. It is reassuring to know that mum is being looked after so well and she often comments on the kindness of everyone at Bings Hall.

My mum has been a resident at Bings Hall for 18 months. We have been extremely satisfied with the care and compassion that all staff showed her, she suffered from dementia and at times she must have been difficult. Sadly she passed away last week but right up to the end we felt we were with friends.

I cannot recommend highly enough. ALL the staff are SO welcoming, caring and wonderful. Sadly my mother wasn't there for long enough to appreciate all that was on offer, but her few days there were such a huge relief to both her and my brother and me - knowing that she had fantastic, proper home prepared
food, warm, kind and caring staff and a lovely, lovely room with French doors opening out onto the garden. I just so wish we had managed to get her there sooner so that she would have able to reap the benefits of everything that Bings Hall has to offer. A very huge thank you from us all!!

The Staff and Management at Bings Hall did a wonderful job whilst caring for my Mum. The exceptional level of care bestowed Mum and other residence did not go unnoticed by the many friends and family that visited Mum. Visitors would often arrive out of the blue and would comment on how warmly they
were greeted by Staff, and how it didn't feel like they were visiting Mum in a Care Home. Mum herself was very touched by the kindness she received from the Staff and Management. When we spoke about this Mum would sometimes get emotional as the attentive high level of care was something that was beyond her expectations. When Mum was at her most vulnerable the Staff at Bings Hall ensured Mums dignity was never compromised. Thank you, to all Staff and Management for doing such a fantastic job looking after Mum and for giving me peace of mind when I wasn't nearby. I will be forever grateful to you. I would not hesitate to recommend this marvellous Care Home. Thank you.

My mother was cared for at Bings Hall, by the wonderful and caring staff, for 16 months until her death in January 2016. It had been her wish to stay in her home for as long as possible after her vascular dementia was diagnosed in 2001. When it became clear she required day long care we had to find
a suitable home within a short distance of our own in Dunmow. We count our blessings that we chose Bings Hall.

My mother was immediately made welcome. For us it was reassuring to walk into a loving family home and to feel right about it from the first moment. The Manager and her super team of carers were, we discovered, quite saintly in their approach to looking after the small number of residents. There was always laughter, kindness, concern and help. My mothers final months were spent in this wonderful environment. Her final weeks were made comfortable and bearable by the staff.

My family have no hesitation in recommending Bings Hall, its fabric, setting and most of all, it's team of carers.

My mother spent the last 9 months of her life at Bings Hall. She had never been the easiest of people and was an extremely fussy eater. The staff at Bings Hall were unfailingly kind and went out of their way to fulfill her wishes. We particularly appreciated the dignity and respect afforded to her during
the last days of her life.
Under the Manager's outstanding leadership, Bings Hall successfully combines very high professional standards with a warm family atmosphere. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My father moved into Bings Hall residential care home in September 2014. After a five week spell in hospital to treat pneumonia. He is 91 years old and now calls Bings Hall his home. He is well cared for and has a good routine and is able to receive visitors on a regular basis, using his room, the conservatory
or the main sitting room, all visitors are made very welcome by the staff and managers. I can also talk to my father on an amplified telephone. The meals are regular and he enjoys the food. The hygiene is extremely good and the staff work very hard at keeping the residents clothes and all the rooms in exemplary condition. My family and I are very grateful to all at Bings Hall for caring so much for dad.

The residents are looked after wonderfully. They are all tidy and well dressed. There dignity is always the. Carers first thought. The people that live in Bings are talked to and looked after in a a first class way. There is a happy atmosphere. The home-I call it a hotel - is well decorated and very
clean. If I had to be cared for in old age I would be happy in Bings.

My father has just spent a week's respite care at Bings Hall. The food was good and the care excellent. The Manager and her staff managed to combine efficiency with attentive care and kindness. My dad described them as exceptional. Seeing them with residents restored my faith in humanity.

Current Review Score: 7.0 (7.044)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.0 (7.044) out of 10 for Bings Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.750 for Bings Hall is calculated as follows: ( (9 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 3.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.294 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bings Hall is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 17 registered maximum number of service users is 3.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.4 = 0.294

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
