The home looked after my mum for two years now. Mum is very well cared for by all the staff. The activities team have a great program every week. They always keep the residents stimulated and they all enjoy activities most days. Mum's room is clean and tidy but the windows are always closed. The care
staff have mum well dressed and her hair always looks beautiful just like she would like it. I don't know the main manager.

Willowmead has amazing staff throughout. They have my admiration for the work they do making the resident's lives as peaceful as is possible. As a visitor one is always made welcome by all the staff. My wife is always clean and is well looked after and I am indeed happy she is in their care.

Everyone at Willowmead has been fantastic with Mum and very helpful with everything. I have seen Mum improve so much since being here. She is so much happier in herself, and as for me, a weight has been lifted off my very heavy shoulders, so thank you for everything.

Since my father's death almost a year ago I have tried to obtain a copy of his daily care log for the day he passed. Despite 3 requests to the manager of Willowmead, e-mails to the CEO of Gold Care homes, the regional manager (plus a telephone call), and finally the complaints department of Gold Care
homes, I have received nothing. Next of Kin are entitled to this information, yet all requests have been ignored by Gold Care Homes and I am at a complete loss as to why. This has meant the grieving process has been severely impacted by not understanding his final hours, nor why we were not called when he started to deteriorate.
As a family, we are extremely disappointed and appalled by the complete lack of communication from the Manager and Gold Care Homes.

This home has come to the forefront in helping us to calm and care for my father, in what was a confusing and unstable time. To see how he has now settled has been pleasing for us.

Do not send your loved ones here. My father went in for respite care. Despite having Alzheimers he was healthy and walked in to the building. 4 days later he was stretchered out - and is still in hospital 4 weeks later and counting.

Absolutely appalling. My father-in-law was admitted on Wednesday. On Sunday, we had to call an ambulance to get him out of there. They hadn't fed him or given him any fluids. He is now in hospital. That is how we know he wasn't given any food or fluids.

This can not be called a care home. I don't know how the building has passed health and safety, it is cold and depressing. My mum has suffered from her health and wellbeing in just one week. I am absolutely shattered by this!

The care that my mother got here was absolutely awful. She was unable to feed herself, yet food and drink were just left on a table in front of her and then taken away un-eaten.
On several occasions, she was not taken to the toilet and left in soiled pads which resulted in her ending up with sores
that were not treated and she was left unwashed or changed. The manager was rude and aggressive and lacked any empathy or offered any help when I complained. She was not treated with any dignity or respect whatsoever. It resulted in social services taking my mother immediately to the hospital where the staff there were shocked at her condition. A copy of her notes was requested but they mysteriously went "missing".
I would not recommend this home to anyone's loved ones and in my opinion, the manager needs to be investigated to stop any more people suffering like my mother did!

Dear Jackie, we are sorry to hear about the experience you appear to have had. I would like to know when this has happened as we have had a change of management team in the last 9 months and unfortunately do not recognise your name as a next of kin to any of our residents during this time. I would like to invite you to reach out to me so that we may discuss this in private and gain more detail. Please call Willowmead Care Home on 01245 381 787, so they can take your contact details and arrange a time that I can call you. I look forward to speaking soon. Kind regards, Jonathan Johnson, Regional Manager, South Region

I am very impressed by the care and attention all the staff give to my father. They bring fun and joy to the residents in the latter stages of their lives. Facilities are in the process of being upgraded and I'm sure it will look amazing when completed.

My mum has been in Willowmead Care Home since August 2016. The home has always looked after my mother. I feel that the care home and I work in partnership to care for my mum. I think the staff are incredibly caring and welcoming. I love the alterations that the manager has done to the entrance and corridors.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.360)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.360) out of 10 for Willowmead Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.652 for Willowmead Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.652

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willowmead Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
