Broomhills has an idyllic rural location looking over the river estuary, which can be viewed from the conservatory. A peaceful setting for a nice cup of tea and a chat with families or friends. Broomhills boasts of 3 large gardens, one with a patio, so there is always a nice area to walk or sit and relax.

Broomhills is a delightful older style building full of character, homely and comfortable. Although rooms are furnished items can be brought in to ensure you are as relaxed as possible. There are always activities for you to join in if you wish, it is your choice.

There are country and river views from all aspects of the building.

Due to the rural setting there are lots of opportunities to see wildlife and for bird watchers.

Broomhills sits back from the main roads, so there is a peaceful and tranquil feel.

A very big thank you to the staff at Broomhills residential care in Rochford Essex. My mum has been a resident there for 2 years and the care she receives is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they always have time for me when I visit, answering any questions I may have. In this particularly
difficult time they have kept me informed and offered me visiting times when possible. Broomhills is spotlessly clean, bright and cheerful. Anyone looking for a care home for a loved one could do no better than Broomhills. Once again a big thank you.

My Nan has been here at Broomhills for about a year now. She really didn't want to go into a care home but she really did need more care and staying in her flat was not safe for her. Broomhills are so very welcoming and really do look after her and care for the residents. Nan eats well and has made
some nice friends. The staff really do go above and beyond what is expected of them, this really puts our minds at rest.

Broomhills is best likened as a home from home. The staff are excellent and show nothing but kindness and tolerance towards my Mum, who must be very trying at times. Seriously if needs be I would not be unhappy to think of my final years there. During Covid they have been so understanding. I have phoned
every day to speak to Mum and not once was I made to feel a nuisance.

My husband is well cared for at Broomhills. The staff is always on hand to help. The staff are friendly, kind, and helpful. The home always keeps me updated. I am able to talk to my husband on the phone regularly. It has been lovely that I can visit my husband in the garden today. After 47 years of
marriage, we have missed seeing each other due to the Covid virus.

I honed the care home to arrange an appointment to visit my Uncle, as was the procedure during the Covid-19 pandemic. I was immediately reassured by the knowledgeable and confident reply I received. A time and date were confirmed immediately. When we arrived a member of staff brought my Uncle to us
very promptly. There was constant interaction between us all and a staff member helped to make the visit very special.

My mum has been in the care of Broomhills for about three and a half years. During this time, I believe my mum has had wonderful care from the lovely staff who always do their utmost to make residents happy and comfortable. I last visited my mum just before lockdown, and it’s been very hard not being
able to see her but, I completely understand the importance of that and cannot praise enough the manager and all the staff for taking excellent care of my mum during this horrendous time and keeping her safe and well. I’ve had a few Facetime calls with Mum and I actually chatted through the window at the weekend and I was so happy to see her and she was happy to see me. Huge thanks to all at Broomhills, you’re amazing.

After moving Mum to Broomhills I had to go to Canada to to be with my daughter and grandchildren and on return was faced with lockdown. So she was moved to a new care home and then left. It has been agonising for me, but thankfully all the staff have been so supportive and communicative with the family
and so caring, kind and considerate with mum. Although I cant see her, the photos staff have sent me show her to be happy and positively joyful on the spa days and fun days they arranged. I cannot really comment on all the categories below as I have not been into the home since the first night - all I can say is thank you Broomhills for supporting us with care and outstanding professionalism all through this difficult time.

My mother went into Broomhills on the 19th March 2020. Myself and my sister were extremely apprehensive as my mother was not always easy to manage being in advanced dementia. Because of Coronavirus, we were not able to go in with her and have not been able to visit her since (quite properly). We both
telephone regularly to see how she is getting on and the staff are always ready to talk to us and to reassure us that my mother has settled in very well.
The staff have been brilliant with my mum and although we have not seen her, staff have sent us photographs of my mum being obviously happier than she has been for a few years. The care home is doing extremely well especially in the current circumstances and we are so glad that my mother is safe and being looked after in this brilliant home. Huge thanks to all the staff.

Our Dad has been a resident at Broomhills Care Home for approx. 5 years now. Throughout this time, we have never had cause to be concerned about the care given. Dad is settled, content and all his care needs are fully met. We have always found staff to be helpful, courteous and informative. Our Dad
has complex care needs, but the Home manages them well. As a family, we are always made to feel welcome and we are involved with Dad's care plan as much as possible. There is good leadership and team spirit within the Home. The food is excellent which means a great deal to our Dad. As a family, we are so pleased that our Dad is a resident in Broomhills Care Home

Very impressed with care received - husband has Alzheimer's. He seems happy and content now after early wondering about 'coming home'! Am so pleased that he smiles and loves to be in the garden with other residents. He has always been a gardener! I am able to have a video call with him once a week 5

The staff at Broomhills are very caring and compassionate with the residents, and always go that extra mile to make them feel safe and secure. I am very happy with the care Mum receives.
Initially unhappy she had to give up her little flat due to stairs, health and safety issue as unable to use since breaking her femur.
She has now settled in, and I cannot be more appreciative of the wonderful care she receives, especially as she cannot
have any visitors at the moment due to the Covid virus!
The home was very quick off the mark to isolate the home from visitors, which I am absolutely sure has saved them all from contracting this nasty virus!
My mind is at rest that Mum is getting all the care and support, plus entertainment that is making her life so much happier than it ever has been in recent years, due to her misfortunes health-wise.
Well done, Brommhills!

I started working for the company in April 2002. I started as a night care assistant. During my time at Runwood Homes, they have supported me to gain qualifications for my role. I have worked in the following areas: night care, night CTL, daycare, day CTL, lifestyle coordinator, deputy manager, and currently Home Manager. I have gained my NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care, Level 4 Leadership and Management, 12 University Credits in Dementia Care Leadership, IOSH Principles of Safety Management in Healthcare, and the People First Modular Leadership Programme. I have been the registered manager at Broomhills since July 2013. I am proud to manage a lovely home with a great staff team who truly do put our residents first. As a care home, we have won numerous awards within our company and Essex Prosper. I was a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for Manager of the Year 2015.

Cain Wood

Job Title: Deputy Manager

My name is Cain. I started my career in the care sector in 2015, realising quickly that I had a passion for care, and this was the career I wanted. I joined the company in April 2019 as a night care assistant. I have worked as a night carer, night CTL, day carer, and day CTL and then became a Deputy Manager in November 2022. I gained his NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care many years before joining the company. I have also taken part in a management and leadership course. I feel I am a great support to the team and am always happy to help anyone. I joined Broomhills in July 2024 and almost immediately settled in as part of the team at Broomhills, showing kindness and compassion towards staff and residents, and has become a great part of the team.

Jean Nash

Job Title: Cook

My name is Jean. I joined the team at Broomhills in March 2015. I began as a kitchen assistant.  I have a history of working in catering, and I had my own catering business before joining Broomhills. Jean was then later trained as a cook. I took over as the cook at Broomhills in 2017, providing residents with nutritious, healthy, home-cooked meals. Jean has had training in preparing modified diets. Jean has a lovely relationship with residents, often inviting them into the kitchen to help with meals and cake decorating with tools down. Jean is very passionate about her job and the importance of providing meals for residents with allergies and nutritional needs and preferences.

Nicola Newman

Job Title: Lifestyle Coordinator

My name is Nicola. I joined Broomhills in 2014. I started off as a volunteer, as her grandmother was residing at Broomhills; I then became the Lifestyle Coordinator. I have been told I'm a great member of our team, with great communication skills and a great team approach, ensuring we provide the residents with a range of activities. I was a finalist in the Dementia Care Awards 2024. I also support staff by training the company's new lifestyle coordinators.


Paul

Paul Jiggens

Job Title: Care Team Leader

Joined: 2019

I joined Broomhills as an apprentice in December 2019. I started as a domestic staff and then wished to do an apprenticeship as a carer. I have a great work ethic and have always been kind, caring, and compassionate, building great relationships with residents, relatives, and staff. I gained my Level 2 QCF in Health and Social Care and am working towards my Level 3 QCF in Health and Social Care. Paul later progressed to Care Team Leader (CTL). I won the Southeast Great British Care Awards in 2023 for putting people first. He was entered into the National Great British Care Awards 2024 and was a finalist. I have completed 2 leadership and management courses as I wish to progress further within Runwood Homes, and I’m sure I will achieve this with Broomhills and Runwood Homes support.
