Broomhills has an idyllic rural location looking over the river estuary, which can be viewed from the conservatory. A peaceful setting for a nice cup of tea and a chat with families or friends. Broomhills boasts of 3 large gardens, one with a patio, so there is always a nice area to walk or sit and relax.

Broomhills is a delightful older style building full of character, homely and comfortable. Although rooms are furnished items can be brought in to ensure you are as relaxed as possible. There are always activities for you to join in if you wish, it is your choice.

There are country and river views from all aspects of the building.

Due to the rural setting there are lots of opportunities to see wildlife and for bird watchers.

Broomhills sits back from the main roads, so there is a peaceful and tranquil feel.

We are so pleased since mum has been in this care home how we have our mother back. She is back to her glamorous self, got her faculties back, her health back. She is well looked after, treated with respect and happy. She has made lots of friends with patients and staff. As prior to her being in the
home, she was always ill again once going home after being in hospital who got her well.

The home provides a very high level of care for my wife. It maintains high standards of cleanliness and the staff are empathic and caring. The facility provided care for her needs and the meal service is excellent.

After a 2 week stay in the hospital, it became clear my Mum couldn't live on her own. So, after looking at several homes, we felt very despondent at the quality of what we had seen. Then by chance, we heard of Broomhills. The relief of finding this place is beyond words I can find. It is fantastic,
at such an emotional time, to find home from home.

Mum has only been a resident for a few weeks but seems very happy in her surroundings. The home is clean, tidy, welcoming and set in lovely grounds in the countryside.
I have found all the staff to be friendly and approachable and feel confident she is getting every assistance to live her life to its
best possible capacity.

All of the staff are hardworking, cheerful and friendly. They treat the residents in their care with kindness and compassion. The young care staff are a credit to themselves and Broomhills. They are some of the nicest young people I have ever met.

From day 1, the service, care provided and facilities have been second to none. No matter what time of day you arrive, the care and attention to the client is superb. We have experience of other care homes and without exception, the staff here are excellent and they often go the extra mile to ensure

Mum seems to be doing very well in the home despite her confusion. Staff appear to have a good relationship with Mum and she with them. Mum's room is comfortable and tidy, although bed appears rather small but functional. Unsure about how much of social programme Mum gets involved in as she does not
seem to remember. Would help to have a report occasionally.

We have experienced 2 care homes prior to Broomhills. How we wish we had known about Broomhills earlier! The safety and wellbeing of my mother is the home's prime concern. Staff are amazingly kind, thoughtful and attentive. As a result, Mum is really thriving, has made good friends and is happier than

Overall well pleased with my mother's care and cleanliness of the home, but do feel there is a lack of staff at times. I know I can always talk to staff and management if I feel the need to, not having anything to compare with is the only reason there are not more excellents.

It was a difficult decision to have my father admitted to a care home but Broomhills ticked all the boxes. My mother and I know we made the right decision. ALL the staff were caring and kind and we felt they looked after us as well as Dad. Sadly he was only there for six weeks but Dad got the best
care which put our minds at rest. We knew he was safe and being well looked after. His health and sadly his mental state deteriorated quite quickly but the care and love he was given was second to none. We can't thank everybody enough for everything they did for him.

In the very short time (4 months) that my mum was in the care home for, she made many friends, not just with other residents but with the staff too who treated my mum with dignity and respect from beginning to end. The caring staff and friendly management were all very helpful and supportive and did
everything possible to help mum remain comfortable to the end. Thank you to everyone for being a fantastic support when we needed it the most.

Leigh-Anne Cowling

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2004

I started working for the company in April 2002. I started as a night care assistant. During my time at Runwood Homes, they have supported me to gain qualifications for my role. I have worked in the following areas: night care, night CTL, daycare, day CTL, lifestyle coordinator, deputy manager, and currently Home Manager. I have gained my NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care, Level 4 Leadership and Management, 12 University Credits in Dementia Care Leadership, IOSH Principles of Safety Management in Healthcare, and the People First Modular Leadership Programme. I have been the registered manager at Broomhills since July 2013. I am proud to manage a lovely home with a great staff team who truly do put our residents first. As a care home, we have won numerous awards within our company and Essex Prosper. I was a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for Manager of the Year 2015.

Cain Wood

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2019

My name is Cain. I started my career in the care sector in 2015, realising quickly that I had a passion for care, and this was the career I wanted. I joined the company in April 2019 as a night care assistant. I have worked as a night carer, night CTL, day carer, and day CTL and then became a Deputy Manager in November 2022. I gained his NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care many years before joining the company. I have also taken part in a management and leadership course. I feel I am a great support to the team and am always happy to help anyone. I joined Broomhills in July 2024 and almost immediately settled in as part of the team at Broomhills, showing kindness and compassion towards staff and residents, and has become a great part of the team.

Jean Nash

Job Title: Cook

My name is Jean. I joined the team at Broomhills in March 2015. I began as a kitchen assistant.  I have a history of working in catering, and I had my own catering business before joining Broomhills. Jean was then later trained as a cook. I took over as the cook at Broomhills in 2017, providing residents with nutritious, healthy, home-cooked meals. Jean has had training in preparing modified diets. Jean has a lovely relationship with residents, often inviting them into the kitchen to help with meals and cake decorating with tools down. Jean is very passionate about her job and the importance of providing meals for residents with allergies and nutritional needs and preferences.

Nicola Newman

Job Title: Lifestyle Coordinator

My name is Nicola. I joined Broomhills in 2014. I started off as a volunteer, as her grandmother was residing at Broomhills; I then became the Lifestyle Coordinator. I have been told I'm a great member of our team, with great communication skills and a great team approach, ensuring we provide the residents with a range of activities. I was a finalist in the Dementia Care Awards 2024. I also support staff by training the company's new lifestyle coordinators.


Paul

Paul Jiggens

Job Title: Care Team Leader

Joined: 2019

I joined Broomhills as an apprentice in December 2019. I started as a domestic staff and then wished to do an apprenticeship as a carer. I have a great work ethic and have always been kind, caring, and compassionate, building great relationships with residents, relatives, and staff. I gained my Level 2 QCF in Health and Social Care and am working towards my Level 3 QCF in Health and Social Care. Paul later progressed to Care Team Leader (CTL). I won the Southeast Great British Care Awards in 2023 for putting people first. He was entered into the National Great British Care Awards 2024 and was a finalist. I have completed 2 leadership and management courses as I wish to progress further within Runwood Homes, and I’m sure I will achieve this with Broomhills and Runwood Homes support.
