My wife has been a resident at New Copford Place since June 2021. I transferred her from her previous care home which was like a high-security prison. The care and love my wife has received since moving have been fantastic. Despite some difficult moments when she first arrived, their care has been exceptional.
The management team are kind and I am allowed to visit as often as is possible - for which I am very grateful. Despite her dementia, my wife seems to be content and I really look forward to my visits.

My mother spent three weeks in respite care, following hip surgery. From my first contact with the manager to our day of discharge, we found the complete service to be professional, caring, supportive and totally appropriate for my mother's needs; despite the difficulties, all staff are facing due to
Covid restrictions. Compliments must be sent to the chef and his team for the excellent food and choices offered. Mother will definitely return if needed in the future.

Mum had been in hospital for several months after a fall at home but was not making good progress, failing to stand or even sit up for long and never out of her nightwear. She had lost all confidence and was becoming very anxious and depressed. However, from the moment we first met the manager of this
home, we knew that Mum would be in good hands and were comforted that this would be the best place to move Mum to, to maximise her recovery. All the staff seem caring and patient and have managed to do so much with Mum since she arrived. With their encouragement, the lovely staff have slowly worked their magic and Mum is now up and dressed and walking to the cheery dining room and back. Mum is understandably still apprehensive and whilst she would prefer to have remained in her own home is slowly embracing her new home and all its benefits (even unexpected wine with dinner one day.) She will hopefully increase her participation in the many and varied activities available. Thanks to all.

Mum became a resident here in March this year (2019) and whilst it hasn't been easy for her to leave her home and garden, the staff here have gone above and beyond to make her feel at home. From the manager asking how we would like the room decorated, to bringing her own furniture in and creating her
own personal garden space outside, every request has been met with a 'will do' attitude. They have also instigated late-night snacks and drinks for a group of the more active members who are still up later on in the evening. There are exercise classes, art and small trips out to local areas and although it will never be her home, the staff spoil her rotten and have gone a long way to helping her settle in so well.
All in all, truly they have been great with mum.

My mother had led an independent life well into her nineties but started having a number of falls putting her into hospital. Having fractured a vertebrae, she needed respite care when she came out of hospital. New Copford Place did a superb job getting her back on her feet and walking again, to the
point where she was able to go home and live on her own again. Unfortunately, she suffered a broken hip and arm following another fall within days of going home. New Copford Place went out of their way to get her back into the home after the hospital had sorted her out and have made excellent progress getting her back walking again. She is now a permanent resident at the home but in very good hands. The staff all take great care of the residents and it's a splendid place to be.

My mum was discharged from hospital, where her condition had really slumped and came to New Copford Place for respite care. Since arriving she has improved considerably. I believe this is due to the very caring nature of the people who work here and the manager's amazing energy and commitment to making
the residents lives the best they can be. She really goes the extra mile to help people. I have visited at all times of the day, am always made very welcome and can see for myself that this is a good care home. The activities coordinator is wonderful - she is energetic and enthusiastic and I have enjoyed doing activities together with my mum. The care team here are so friendly and helpful that they create a very warm atmosphere for the people who live here. My mum is now a resident and I know she is in good hands.

I have nothing but praise for the manner in which my Mum has been cared for over the last five years. The staff are young but their youth has uplifted my mother over the years. The attention to detail over her appearance, cleanliness and general wellbeing have been second to none. Management and administration
excellent. Mum passed away on 15th January at 95 years old. I know she had the happiest time of her life being looked after by New Copford Place.

The home is well run and is providing a lovely caring environment for my mother. There are usually an adequate level of care staff and great efforts are made by most to engage with the residents in a kind and timely manner. There is a weekly changing schedule of activities and outings are planned. The
home is well laid out with 'wings' of 9 ensuite bedrooms, and a lounge for each. Central to this is a very inviting dining room. The gardens and peace surrounding the home are a treat. The food is appetising, homely and a good variety is provided. Also, the catering staff are flexible. New Copford Place is kept very clean and presentable. All in all, it is hard to find fault; except maybe the slightly ageing carpet could be changed !!

I visited my aunt over the Christmas period and was very impressed by New Copford Place. The home was decorated beautifully and everyone was very welcoming. I stayed for lunch which was all home cooked and beautifully presented. Staff were professional at all times and my Aunt is very happy there.
There was a wide range of activities going on throughout December including a trip to the Pantomime, well done to everyone at New Copford Place, a great home.

My stepmother has been a resident since April 2014. She has always been treated with compassion and friendliness. She passed away 6th November in the home. I cannot praise the staff enough. They treated her with great care during her end of life. They also treated us well. A lovely friendly caring place

We have reviewed many homes locally and this is the best by far that we have seen. Mum is secure, well known and looked after, with a wide range of activities provided and good menu choice, as well as being able to ask for any food she would like.
The home is bright, attractively laid out with a central
garden courtyard and Mum can also retire to her room to watch television, do jigsaw puzzles, or read if she wants to.
She looks physically more well now than she has for some time, she has her confidence back and is walking with an aid much further than she was and staff are kind and patient.
This is a very good care home.

Happy with the quality of staff, however concerned insufficient night cover for residents. Issues raised with the new manager have been dealt with in general. Time will tell with regard to the new management for daily activities!!!

New Copford Place is a well appointed beautifully laid out care home. There are three lounges with TV, bookshelves, puzzles, crafts and fresh flowers. Management, staff and carers are friendly and helpful and it is a safe and warm environment.

My mother has been a resident of New Copford Place for over five years now and I have been more than satisfied with the care that she has received during this time.


Over the years the staff have come to understand the 'idiosyncrasies' that a 98-year-old is entitled to have and although not admitted

very often, she does know that she is in a good place.


After a recent spell in hospital with a combination of problems including sepsis (which was spotted very quickly by the carers), everyone made it abundantly clear how happy they were to see her back and she has responded accordingly.


A recent residential review by Essex County Council concluded that the care and support provided met all my mother's needs and she was described as being in 'very good spirits'


More than that, I could not ask!

A friendly, amazingly welcoming home where my grandma is extremely happy and well entertained as well as cared for. Friends and relatives are warmly welcomed at any time and various activities are arranged to include friends and family too. All on one level, this home allows residents to be continually
in view of staff, the food is fabulous as are the gardens. Various levels of ability and disability are catered for.

“I have worked in the Care Sector since 2012. After beginning my career in care, I quickly realised that I was making a positive change in the lives of those people I looked after, which is so rewarding and something no other job was – and still is – able to provide.


I have been with Friends of the Elderly for nearly three years, becoming the Care Home Manager at New Copford Place in August 2020. I have a great team and we work closely together to ensure each resident is supported, inspired and receives the highest level of bespoke care which is tailored to their individual needs.


Our wide and varied activities programme is created through listening to our residents’ preferences, likes, hobbies and interests as making a positive difference in all our residents’ lives is at the heart of all we do, every day. All the Team gets involved and I’ve even been known to join in with the singing and dancing sessions.


The best thing about being the Care Home Manager at New Copford Place is seeing our residents smiling, as it makes me feel that I have, in some small way, contributed a little bit to that smile.”
