Croft House is an elegant and spacious home situated within a leafy suburb close to Stansted Airport. The home is set in stunning, well-maintained gardens and is also situated within walking distance of the main high street of Great Dunmow, which is ideal for residents to get out and about.

At Croft House, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so staff create a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and they try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Croft House, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at Croft House. The staff love to discover what residents enjoy doing and the social calendar is organised around those interests. My mother and stepfather moved into Croft House Care Home in February 2023. The standard of care given to my parents has been excellent, sadly my stepfather was at the end of his life. The kindness shown to both my stepfather and visiting family was outstanding.

From September 2021, when my mum moved into Croft House Care Home, the whole team were warm and welcoming and they totally succeeded in making it feel like home to her. Mum expressed on numerous visits how safe she felt and how she loved her personalised care. The food choices were perfect for her
and her regular hair treatments and visits from the chiropodist still gave her contact with the outside world. I would recommend Croft House to anyone looking for an excellent care home as my mum’s life was enriched by her time there.

I moved into Croft House Care Home in August 2021 having had several falls at home due to my Parkinson's. (My wife is in a care home with dementia and there was no alternative). From the moment I arrived I was welcomed by the friendly staff and shown to my spacious room overlooking the gardens. The
home is well furnished and clean with fitted carpets throughout. Having viewed a number of care homes, it is clear to me that Croft House is above the average.
All of the permanent staff are caring and helpful, always ready to provide assistance and to communicate with residents. Their commitment to the role is clearly obvious in every way. We are very lucky in being looked after by all of the team.
One final comment, whilst one understands the difficulty in recruiting new staff, I would like to see fewer agency staff on duty as they clearly have no loyalty to Croft House.

My mother has been resident in the care home for nearly 3 years now. She has always been treated with dignity, respect and care by all the staff. We had to trust the care home during the prolonged periods of Coronavirus lockdown, which sadly have taken their toll on Mum but the home certainly delivered
top-quality performance and kept us constantly updated on her health and welfare and they did take great care of her during this time.
My personal concern is that the care home is somewhat understaffed as they have a high number of residents who require two carers at a time. This can mean that other residents' calls for assistance can go unanswered for prolonged periods. We have had niggling issues with laundry going missing and essential toiletries needing replacing. The care home facilities have a somewhat tired and slightly grubby look and feel, but I understand a refurbishment programme is planned.
Overall though, the care home provides all the care and attention we would wish for Mum.

If anyone is looking for a care home for their relative, I would strongly recommend speaking to the lovely people at Croft House Care Home. From our first meeting with the home manager to meeting the staff who looked after my father during his stay, they were all so kind to all of us. It was very reassuring

We are so impressed with the fantastic way that all of the staff at Croft House have coped during this latest lockdown. They have always treated Mum with loving care and dignity and this has been so important during the past year. We feel so lucky that she is being cared for in such a loving way and

My Grandmother has been a resident of Croft House for a year now after a succession of hospital admissions. The Croft has always provided wonderful care and their management of the COVID-19 situation has been fantastic. They have worked so hard to keep my Grandma well and despite not being able to see
my Grandmother for the past four months, we have taken great relief to know that she is in safe hands. I would definitely recommend this care home to any future residents

I have found the nursing staff to be excellent and the management team to be helpful and sympathetic to our needs although often their hands are tied.
The majority of the carers are excellent although one or two leave a lot to be desired. The cleaner at Croft House needs replacing. The food is delicious
and the kitchen staff are always cheerful and helpful. I do feel that Croft House is understaffed.
The residents' private rooms are nicely decorated although the bathroom door opens onto another door and there is no ventilation in any of the bathrooms. The residents sitting rooms and dining areas are very welcoming. My father, once settled, was happy at Croft House and I felt he was safe and well looked after.

During these difficult times of not being able to see my Mum, the staff and carers have all been providing her with the extra care of being visitors as well as carers to her and other residents.
My Mum has been in the Care home since June 2019 and she is very happy.
We all hope we will be able to
visit our loved ones very soon. A huge thank you to the manager and the team for all their care.

Croft House nursing care home is an excellent home. My mum as been here for five weeks and I can’t praise them enough. The nurses and the carers along with the support staff give my mum all the care and love that she needs for her condition. They have been very supportive and willing and they are always
corporative. Everyone is so polite and caring. My mum was in another care home before this one and as a family, we wished our mum came here beforehand. My mum has had the best care possible at Croft.
Their standards are very high. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is excellent we a wide choice on the menu.

My father-in-law has been in Croft House since February this year and I can say that the staff and management really go out of their way to accommodate his needs. The management is very hands-on and supports all staff members. Everyone is under a lot of stress at the moment due lockdown but nothing
is too much for them.

From day one when our family friend was admitted I felt reassured and confident that she was receiving impeccable care. I was kept fully informed of both medical and pastoral care and nothing was too much trouble, in fact, the staff went out of their way to make sure I was kept fully up to date, day
or night. It is obvious that communication between all staff is excellent as any staff member that I spoke with was very knowledgeable of situations. Never once did I feel uncomfortable to phone or ask any questions, in fact, I felt valued and respected. I have no hesitation whatsoever in giving the highest recommendation possible from the experience I have had. I send my sincere thanks for making the most difficult time as bearable as possible.

The home has been fantastic with a friend of mine providing the care which they need. All of the staff contribute significantly to ensure that the service provision and the home is run as effectively and beneficial for all involved. The management staff are exceptional and do not isolate themselves
at all from day to day duties, whilst ensuring that there is a friendly and fun atmosphere involved. I would recommend Croft House to all.

I am happy to share my views that Croft House has been an excellent, caring and happy home for my mother for around 17 months now. From the moment she went into her room the staff have been very friendly and caring and like a family for her. Whatever the request the staff always make a big effort to
oblige and the activities, such as craft afternoons, games, singing around the piano or faith services have kept her happy. The food is of good quality, with options and individual tastes taken into account. I cannot praise Croft House enough and thank them for making my mother happy and safe, thus relieving my mind as well as hers.

My experience of having a parent at Croft House has been good. I feel that communication has become better over the last 9 months or so. There is a new Deputy Manager and she has immeasurably enhanced communication, being a fantastic link between myself and the Management.
Mum is very well looked after
by the extremely kind and caring Care staff. She really does feel secure there. Nursing staff are extremely efficient and professional. The carers are so kind. It is hugely important to have a level of trust between staff, residents and their family. I feel that this has really moved forwards at Croft, as our family likes to work with staff as a team.
I must mention the restaurant staff and restaurant manager; they are so upbeat, friendly and so smartly dressed! The restaurant manager goes above and beyond in so many ways- well beyond typical 'restaurant' duties!!
Staff have 'facetimed' me twice since lockdown. Many thanks to the Deputy Manager and to the Carer who facilitated this.

Nurses and care staff good and very friendly but on too many occasions short handed and therefore agency people used resulting in poorer care. Food poor (both how cooked and meal choices) but waiting staff excellent.
House-keeping poor - beds sometimes not made until afternoon.
Communal areas not
welcoming and often used for staff meetings.
