St Dominics is nestled in the tranquil village of Kelvedon is set in landscaped gardens overlooking mature trees.

The home is easily accessible from the A12 road link and is close to the mainline train station and local bus services. St Dominics is adjacent to the local Catholic Church and near to other dominations. Vel Inn Pub are all within easy walking distance.

Accommodation at St Dominics is provided in 39 single bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities. Many rooms overlook the landscaped gardens. The first floor rooms are serviced by a passenger lift and stairs in several locations. The home has four bathrooms that are fitted with specialist baths as well as a wet room with shower facilities.

There is a large comfortable lounge and a panoramic conservatory which is used for residents to dine and socialise in. The home has a smaller lounge and another quiet lounge used for residents’ celebrations, meetings, staff training, etc. A hairdressing salon is available for use when not occupied by the hairdresser who comes weekly.

Meals are cooked on the premises using fresh produce much of which is provided by local suppliers. The team of chefs work with the Manager and Proprietor to ensure food is plentiful, cooked to a high standard. Residents are able to choose from a varied menu on a daily basis. Special diets can be catered for.

St Dominics has a good rapport with healthcare professionals supporting the care provided such as District Nurses, GPs Surgery, COPD and Parkinson's Nurses etc and Podiatrists

    All residents joining us with a view to a permanent placement will start on a 4-week trial which is charged at £1450.00 per week. Following this initial period, a permanent placement may mean a reduction in the weekly fee payment depending on the room and dependency.


    Respite stays are offered when, and if, we have availability – minimum respite stay is one week.

Everyone from the management team down to the care staff were always polite and helpful. My mother was not an easy person to care for, but they treated her with respect and dignity at all times.

Excellent care and consideration/help/assistance were given to me during my temporary stay in St Doms.
Unable to tend to myself after an operation therefore all care was gratefully received.
Good decision to stay in St Doms rather than try to cope alone at home.

We cannot recommend this care home enough. My mother moved here in April 2022 with progressing dementia and a shadow of her former self. The care from the team brought her back to life, they looked after her like their own family until her final days earlier this month.
She regained all the weight
she had lost with their wonderful food, she was back dancing during their amazing activities and we were always so warmly welcomed during every visit. She enjoyed trips out with the staff that we could not have managed alone and formed strong friendships with both staff and residents.
When her health deteriorated, the care team were nothing short of amazing in their attempts at not only making her comfortable but in maintaining her full dignity until the end. They never gave up communicating with her.
When family members could not be there, they had carers holding her hand and providing 1 to 1 monitoring. They also provided us with the care we needed, making an awful time a little easier.

I cannot fault the care, love and attention given to my mum since arriving at St Dominics. I feel very reassured knowing that she will be cared for and checked up on regularly throughout the day and night. She is always offered the chance to be included in all the daily activities. The staff worked
tirelessly not only to keep on top of basic needs but above and beyond to provide a varied, fun and interesting activity schedule. The staff are always attentive to my elderly father who visits regularly always offering a meal and/or a cuppa. The staff are also always on hand to answer any worries may have and fag up any concerns they may have. Very caring environment where nothing is too much trouble

My mother has been at St. Dominic's for almost 4 years. The standard of care has been consistently excellent. Realizing that my father was alone, the staff at St. Dominic's looked out for him too, often checking in with him about his health whilst updating him on mum's status. Recently there was a sudden
decline in my father's health and the staff at St. Dominic's were there to assist in making his final days as comfortable as possible. My parents were able to spend the last two weeks of my father's life together, which wouldn't have happened had St. Dominic's not been so accommodating.
The staff are very compassionate, dedicated, caring people. The level of care has consistently exceeded my expectations, and I have always left the care home knowing that Mum, and for a time dad, are receiving the best care possible. Choosing St. Dominic's has been one of the better decisions I have made.

My mum came to St Dominics from the hospital. Myself and my brother had been trying to care for her ourselves, but 24-hour care was exhausting, and she had been diagnosed with vascular dementia. As a retired paramedic, I had lots of experience with care homes. I can honestly say the staff make the home.
My mym has improved so much. The food is outstanding, and the care is genuine and amazing. The home is spotlessly clean. I could write so much more... I feel my mum is safe and happy. I visit every day, and our time is now special.

After a fall at home, mum entered St Dominics in February 2017 and was made welcome by the friendly staff. She soon made a small group of friends and enjoyed the visiting singers and musicians, plus the odd outing organised by the home. Following Covid restrictions, mum became more reclusive, preferring
to stay in her room despite the efforts of the staff encouraging her to eat with the other residents but she was happy to watch her TV and chat with the staff, who would pop in to see her, saying they had come in for a rest.


As she deteriorated and became confined to bed, this was where the staff really shone, regularly attending to her, be it washing, changing, feeding or turning her on the air bed sourced by the home. I was kept informed of any major changes in her condition between my visits, and in her final days, the staff would even sit with her, holding her hand. They could not have shown her more love and affection, and throughout, the home has always been clean and tidy.

Mother moved into St Dominics eight years ago as she had started to fall on a regular basis, was lonely at home and because she had dementia, and would forget if she had taken medication. She was made to feel welcome and soon made quite a few friends in the home. Until Covid, there were outings and
lots of outside entertainers and employed activity staff to fill their days. Visits were welcome anytime. The meals and snacks were made on-site and were plentiful and delicious. Staff were kind and well-trained to cope with residents' needs.

My mum has been a resident at St Dominics since February 2020, and from the beginning of her stay until now, her care has been nothing short of exceptional. St Dominics is very much her home and the staff part of her family. Mum arrived anxious and disinterested in the world around her, and within a
month, that changed, and she became relaxed and took part in all the wonderful activities St Dominics put on throughout the day. Even when her condition deteriorated, and she became less able, the staff never left her out but adjust the activity, so she could be included.
Over the past few months, Mum has been bed bound and her condition challenging, but the care and attention she has been given have ensured her quality of life has been maintained, and her physical and mental well-being has never been ignored. St Dominics care has been beyond what my mum has experienced in other places, and their ‘nursing’ care is brilliant.
We feel Mum is loved and cared for and is happy. Means a lot to us.

My mother was admitted to St Dominics in January 2017. She had a number of medical conditions on admission and was assessed to lack the mental capacity to make a decision on her accommodation. Being a very independent lady, she found it very difficult to accept that she needed full-time care. The staff
at St Dominics displayed an exceptional level of personal and professional care, far exceeding the job description, and took on the challenge of helping Mum to settle, which is something that other care homes had not been able to do. Mum was treated with respect and dignity, and an extra special effort was made at all times by the staff to understand her and to assess and manage her condition. In addition, on my regular weekly visits to see Mum at the Home, I was also treated with a great deal of kindness and the staff always had time to discuss my Mum's condition with me and to help me to cope with the situation. St Dominics is an outstanding home and is highly recommended.

Mum moved into St Dominics in October 2021 when she was no longer able to manage in her retirement apartment on her own. The staff have been amazing, both in terms of kindness and care that they show Mum, but also in the help and support that they have given me. They treat Mum with dignity, respect
and encourage her to be independent, whilst also providing whatever help is necessary. I have been so impressed that when another of my relatives was taken ill and also required care, I didn't hesitate to call St Dominics. They have pulled out all of the stops and were able to place my two relatives in rooms next to each other, which has been so reassuring for them both. They both speak very highly of all of the staff and never fail to mention their kindness. I am extremely grateful to all of the staff for all that they have done/do for both of my relatives. They truly are a first-class care home.

My mum went into St Domonics in April 2020, and at the start of Covid restrictions. The staff were great in keeping us informed of Mums day-to-day care. When we were able to visit Mum, we saw for ourselves how kind and caring all the staff were. The rooms were always clean, and with activities going
on for the residents, we were very happy with Mum care and cannot adult the care and love she received.

Having looked after Mum myself for 6 years, I really wasn't looking forward to the prospect of Mum going into a care home, following a spell in hospital. However, I cannot speak highly enough of St Dominics and their staff, and I consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to find them at a time
when they had a room available.
They made the whole process of transitioning Mum from the hospital to the home very easy, in fact, they took care of the whole thing and were on hand to provide advice and guidance every step of the way.
I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and compassion they have shown to Mum in the 2 months she has been there; she seems very settled and happy. Not only this but when Mum was discharged from the hospital she was not in a very good way at all (she has dementia); however since being at St Dominics she has picked up tremendously and seems very happy to be there. I cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

My mother became a resident of St Dominics just before the Coronavirus pandemic. The home has been good at keeping the family informed about all the changes that have had to implement. The staff have shown kindness and support to my mother whilst treating her with the dignity and respect that we expected.
The staff have put the residents first at all times, and my mother has said she feels safe and well cared for.

My mother fell ill just after Christmas, to the extent that I tried to care for her and found after three days, it was impossible to cope. Mother had prior to entering St Dominics been at home on her own, saying how lonely she was. In the home, she had many people to socialise with.


Mother took a

while to settle down, but soon was really enjoying her stay. She really enjoyed the quiz's, bingo and chatting with the other residents. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even pushing her in a wheelchair around the garden in the snow when she wanted! Whenever I asked her about the staff, she would tell me how wonderful she found all of them.


They cared for her in her last days with compassion, catering for her every need.
Whenever I contacted St Dominics, they were reassuring about Mums health and welfare.
