St Dominics is nestled in the tranquil village of Kelvedon is set in landscaped gardens overlooking mature trees.

The home is easily accessible from the A12 road link and is close to the mainline train station and local bus services. St Dominics is adjacent to the local Catholic Church and near to other dominations. Vel Inn Pub are all within easy walking distance.

Accommodation at St Dominics is provided in 39 single bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities. Many rooms overlook the landscaped gardens. The first floor rooms are serviced by a passenger lift and stairs in several locations. The home has four bathrooms that are fitted with specialist baths as well as a wet room with shower facilities.

There is a large comfortable lounge and a panoramic conservatory which is used for residents to dine and socialise in. The home has a smaller lounge and another quiet lounge used for residents’ celebrations, meetings, staff training, etc. A hairdressing salon is available for use when not occupied by the hairdresser who comes weekly.

Meals are cooked on the premises using fresh produce much of which is provided by local suppliers. The team of chefs work with the Manager and Proprietor to ensure food is plentiful, cooked to a high standard. Residents are able to choose from a varied menu on a daily basis. Special diets can be catered for.

St Dominics has a good rapport with healthcare professionals supporting the care provided such as District Nurses, GPs Surgery, COPD and Parkinson's Nurses etc and Podiatrists

    All residents joining us with a view to a permanent placement will start on a 4-week trial which is charged at £1450.00 per week. Following this initial period, a permanent placement may mean a reduction in the weekly fee payment depending on the room and dependency.


    Respite stays are offered when, and if, we have availability – minimum respite stay is one week.

Despite lockdown, we were fortunate to be able to move two sisters to St Dominics to individual rooms close by each other. Although we have been unable to go into the premises, (due to COVID lockdown), we have had every assistance from the staff to settle the ladies in their rooms and provide them with
the care they needed. They have been fortunate to have hairdressers and chiropodist visits during most of the lockdown, and we now look forward to seeing them in person in the coming months. Both ladies have been very appreciative of all the care staff who have been extremely friendly and helpful. The residential home has been very accommodating in allowing beds, riser/recliner chairs and pictures to be put up in their rooms from their home, together with various personal effects.

A wonderful care home who's caring and dedicated staff are a model on how the delivery of care to elderly residents should be delivered. They have looked after my father since November 2019 and he has not only improved in his physical and mental health, but they have managed to give back to us the fun-loving
gentleman he used to be. He now thinks of St Dominics as his home and cannot speak too highly of the staff.
We cannot thank the whole team enough for their hard work.

Dad is so much happier now he is in the home. The care he receives is amazing and the staff are extremely attentive.
The only concern that we have is that he may not be stimulated enough.
The management team have also taken on a healthcare issue which has needed to be addressed which is a relief
to both my brother and myself.

Lovely clean, welcoming and friendly residential home with very caring staff who make a concerted effort to ensure that all their residents are happy, comfortable and treated with respect. My dear friend and neighbour has been completely transformed in the two weeks he's been here. He's put on some
much-needed weight, he's brighter and less forgetful and most importantly, he's no longer lonely! There are lots of activities every day, and it would be difficult to not find something that you liked. The tea/coffee time cakes, buns (and mince pies!) are all home-baked by the cook and they're delicious! Residents are always encouraged to be as independent as possible but kindness and help are always present as and when required. Rooms are clean and personalised... some smaller than others, but with pleasant views of the beautiful surrounding gardens mostly. A little haven of homeliness.

St Dominics helped make the last months of our mother's life comfortable and secure. The staff were friendly, cheerful, caring and showed great kindness and patience when helping our mum. The care home provided many good activities for the residents, our mum's favourites were the harp recitals. As my
mother's health began to fail, the staff gave her such special care whilst making sure she maintained her dignity. The most outstanding aspect of the care home was the great care and attention that was given to our mother in her last hours. They made sure that she was never alone and stayed with her through the night. The staff of the care home extended their support to us at the end as we said goodbye to mum. I cannot recommend St. Dominics highly enough as a place which puts the emphasis on care.

Our aunt was cared for by the St Dominic's family for 4 and a half years until her passing on 27.02.19. She was previously cared for by our uncle until her dementia became severe. St Dominic's welcomed our uncle, who was a frequent visitor most days and he participated in activities, entertainment,
enjoying lunch with our aunt which benefitted them both enormously. Our aunt was always treated with such dignity and care according to her needs in such a happy environment which we thank St Dominic's so much for.

My mum has been a resident since 2016, suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer's. All of the staff look after her so well, she now regards it as her home. The staff always treat her with kindness, dignity and respect. The staff are also very friendly and helpful with visiting family and family who telephone.
Her room is always very clean and tidy.
Christmas time was very busy with many events held for the resident's entertainment which they very much enjoyed.

We visited my relative on 22nd November. It happened to be entertainment afternoon and we were invited to have lunch with our relative and other patients. This proved to be an excellent afternoon with patients and staff thoroughly enjoying it all. The atmosphere proved to be very good indeed. Patients
who were able to get up with the help from staff enjoyed a little dance. Everyone enjoying the afternoon. We were sorry to leave at the end of our visit.

My mother has been resident at St. Dominics for six months and has settled very well, which bearing in mind she suffers from Alzheimer's, we thought she might struggle. The staff are extremely attentive and have got to know my mother extremely well very quickly, and respond to her issues with compassion.
They do not hesitate to contact me if they are at all concerned and this has been borne out in the last couple of weeks when mum has been particularly agitated and by just calling me to speak to her on the phone, has settled the issues. A weekly routine of phone calls to my mother has now been suggested and seems to be doing the trick. Mum herself says she is happy and that if it is a care home she needs to be in, then St. Dominics is where she wants to be! Whenever we visit there is always a calm and happy atmosphere.

My mother has been resident for well over two years. She has dementia but has really enjoyed her time here and has a great relationship with her carers. All the residents are different characters, some more demanding than others, but I think they are well looked after by a dedicated staff.

Most of the carers are very good. I am unable to join in a lot of activities due to poor eyesight. The staff do offer to help me to take part in bingo, for instance.
I cannot fault the housekeeping staff. If I have a problem and mention it to management, it is dealt with promptly.

Overall, this home is very good, well run, good food and very clean. The residents are well looked after and staff are good and very caring. Good entertainment and grounds are nice and well kept. My mother is very happy at St Dominics Residential Home. I would recommend this as a good home.

St Dominics has provided our relative with a support structure whilst still letting him feel relatively independent, with choices about how he chooses to spend his time.
The 24 hour care is a great relief for the family.
We feel the staff know him well and that there is continuity of staff. They are
all very friendly, kind and capable and we feel confident he is in good hands.
You can visit at any time and see staff engaging warmly with clients.
