Located in the historical country village of Bradwell on Sea in Essex. Down Hall is a home for 38 residents and offering a range of services including long term and respite care.

Down Hall is often referred to by those who visit as an oasis within the heart of its own community. It is a place where residents enjoy a thriving year-round calendar of events and activities, whilst receiving the precise level of dedicated professional care need, as needed.

Everyone who lives and works at Down Hall is considered by the friendly owners as part of a close extended family. It is a place where residents are fully supported in continuing to live their lives as they have been used to; where everyone can feel safe and secure and where independence and personal dignity is strongly promoted.

Friendships are forged at Down Hall, and those who live here enjoy being a part of a warm, caring environment.

At Down Hall, the specialist services of caring for the challenges that come with age sit seamlessly beside high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, comfortable beds and seating and good food and drink.

Equally important are the needs of the mind: stimulation, sympathy and understanding. The staff are never too busy to pay attention, listen and help smooth out anxieties and problems, little or large. And if staff can’t do it themselves, they will find someone who can.

I have nothing but positive praise for Down Hall Residential Home, the staff and the exceptionally amazing carers. It takes someone quite remarkable to be able to do this mentally and physically demanding role and their support during some difficult times has been outstanding and I shall be forever
grateful. Placing a loved one in care is an incredibly hard decision to make but I have no regrets. My loved one is safe and whilst their health will not improve it has been stable due to their care and understanding of dementia. I would without hesitation recommend this residential home.

The home keeps us informed of any problems with the person who is there. It is kept clean as is our relative, the food is always plentiful and adequate for her needs. Her clothes are changed daily and washed and replenished quickly. The staff are caring, responsive and cheerful and make for an extremely
overall pleasant atmosphere. Her medical needs are well-catered for. A hairdresser attends as does a chiropodist to ensure she always looks her best. There are no restrictions on visits l have visited at various times during the day and have had reason whatsoever to question what is happening at the home to my relative or other persons resident there.

My mother has been a resident of this facility since August, the times of lockdown restrictions have made this hard for us all but I must say mum has had the best of care. There have been some difficult times with mum's health etc but I have always considered mum to be in the best place. I could not
wish for mum to be in a better place than this. It is a quite simple fact that care comes to mind little things matter and the staff all seem to care for mum as if she was their family as well. Also, they all seem to have time for myself or my siblings phoning and talking about mum as if she were their only concern, the time on relatives is a great comfort and the care for mum is second to none,

My father initially visited Down Hall as a respite resident, when he later became frail we had no hesitation to chose Down Hall for his permanent residence. The staff and team made this transition very easy for my father and family. The staff and management are very professional and treated my father
with respect and dignity yet always maintaining a happy and friendly environment. They demonstrated kindness and understanding to both residents and their families alike, keeping lines of communication open at all times. Down Hall has a very calm environment and all residence are happy, clean, smart and well cared for.

My husband went to Down Hall on respite for a week. The manager and her team made myself and my husband feel at home. I was very anxious about leaving him but I was reassured by the manager. I felt very comfortable about leaving him.

It is a beautiful care home, the Management and care staff, cleaners, cook, everybody there is so loving and caring, always fresh and clean. It was a hard call to put my mother in a care home but I could not have wished for a better home from home and knowing that my mother has someone there all day
for her. Excellent.

As my mother was an occupational therapist by profession she has strong views on care homes and caring for the elderly. Having been to Down Hall when an elderly aunt was a resident, this was the only place she would consider for herself and my dad. The clean fresh air about the place, along with the
friendly caring staff, make it a home from home. We have family gatherings in the function room where the children can spill out into the garden. Daily care and cleanliness are all covered in an efficient manner. I feel I am able to discuss any problems or queries I may have with the manager and her staff at any time.

My father has been a resident at Down Hall for approximately 2 years. The home is always clean and the staff are extremely helpful and kind. The staff put on many activities which residents can choose to take part in if they wish. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

When visiting our friend we find a calm and tranquil atmosphere and friendly staff.
We have eaten with our friend on occasions and the food is very good.
Our friend is well cared for and her room is made homely with an ensuite bathroom.

Very happy with my mother's care. She has all of her personal belongings in her room so she feels at home. All of the staff are lovely to Mum and treat her with dignity.

Mum was here for approximately 4 years. My family were worried about her being in a care home. We should not have worried. Once in her room, surrounded by her belongings, she was content. In no time this became her home. The staff could not have been kinder and more caring.

The home is always clean and tidy and the staff are most welcoming to visitors. I have been more than pleased with the care and kindness shown to my father and note that I see the same care shown to all residents. There are plenty of activities to keep residents busy, particularly in the warmer months.
I am very happy that I chose to have my father live here in his latter, more needy years.

My Aunt has been at Down Hall for just a year. Came for respite and decided to stay. She cannot praise the care enough. Obviously, she has the odd problem but this is always dealt with quickly and professionally. The activities are varied and suit all types of people. She is shown respect, which she
likes.
