Sadly my mother was in hospital in June 2020, my sister and I were caring for her before this. We made the decision that it would be best to look for a care home with a strong dementia caring attitude. I feel that we have made the right decision, even though we haven't been able to view Mum's room or
even look round the care home because of the Covid situation. We are able to make window visits, and the staff are always available to answer any concerns that we may have. We just hope we will be able to visit Mum very, very soon, because I know that with her dementia she might forget who we are. She had her 90th birthday last week and during our window visit her wonderful carer helped her open all her cards and presents. This lady was just so great, and Elizabeth House made Mum's birthday a special day, we even saw wonderful pictures on Facebook.

Unfortunately, care for my Mother in Law received was poor. We had moved her down from an excellent care home in Nottingham to be nearer family. We had thought advertised high rating CQC plus nice colour brochure indicated a good placement. We were unable to view Elizabeth House due to Covid restrictions.
We
had brought my Mother in Law down in a car with no problem and she could mobilise quite well with a walking aid. However, mobility deterioration in the next few months and she was extremely unhappy with general care and food offered. She had two falls and sustained back fracture and ended up in the hospital and died there this last Saturday on her birthday. We had arranged for her to return to the care home in Nottingham but sadly it was not to be.

After a lot of family soul searching it was decided to admit my mother in law to the home for respite care, Covid-19 had made this decision seem impossible.
All staff involved in her transition, as required isolation for 7 days, kept us informed of her progress visually and via email/ phone. The complete
process and planning for everyone’s safety has been exceptional.
Today was our first outdoor visit with my lovely mum in law and it was great. I witnessed a happiness in her which has been missing for a while, being surrounded by people who interact as well as care for her has given her peace. She may have an illness that takes her memory but she still has feelings and I praise the staff for all they’ve done and the calmness she expresses.
I cannot thank everyone at the home enough.

My nan is was always fiercely independent cooking a 'meat and 2 veg' every day. Three years ago, my dad, her son, passed away. This hit her very hard. Then last year she had to have her third hip operation which left her very unsteady and weak on her legs. After nearly four months in hospital, she decided
that it was time for a home. She loves it. She raves about the food, she always has nice words to say about the staff. It's her 98th birthday on the 21st of June. The staff there know it is very difficult at the moment not being able to physically give our loved ones a hug. So they post lots of videos and pictures of all the residents. My nan is smiling for the first time in a long while, the staff have made her very welcome and very comfortable. I can not thank the staff for this enough. Thank you all for making my nan's life very enjoyable.
My nan's smile says it all.

My father died in October leaving my mum devastated with grief, in a house she could no longer call home if my dad wasn't beside her. They had been married 60 wonderful years. Mum quickly deteriorated and dementia crept in. We were recommended to Elizabeth House, Mum has found friends, care, a balanced
diet and now has joy in her life thanks to the team at Elizabeth House.

My review is based on telephone calls and front door contact, because of the Covid-19 lockdown. I have been informed of anything that is worrying the team whether my relative or any needs they have and have always been polite, and helpful. My relative went in the home in the lockdown period, so I
haven't seen them since they went in, but have always been able to speak to them when I phone.

I am confident and happy that my mother is well cared for at all times by the staff here. They are kind and considerate, and I am kept well informed at all times, even in the difficult situation we find ourselves at the moment in the midst of a pandemic; they find time to talk to me and find Mum to
come to the phone for me. I am so glad she is here, as it is less of a worry knowing that she is safe and well cared for.

When I visit Mum, everyone seems happy in their work and very caring for the residents. I always feel happy that Mum is in their care. The rooms are spotless and the carers friendly. I always get my questions answered, and nothing seems to be too much trouble for anybody.

My mother has Dementia and been a resident of Elizabeth House for almost a year now. Obviously, as any family knows, we were very apprehensive but she quickly settled in and the staff put our minds at rest keeping us up to date with everything. The care and compassion the staff have at this home is
second to none and I take my hat off to each and every one of them especially how our world is at the moment with Covid-19. Having a family of my own it is a huge burden taken off my shoulders knowing that my Mum is getting the care and attention from these amazing people.
The home is immaculate and clean with healthy meals and lots of activities taking place. Her nails are always painted and her room is always spotless and clean. I haven't been able to see my Mum because of the lockdown but I am 100% rest assured that she is in one of the best homes and I viewed a few before I put her in one.
Can not thank everyone at Elizabeth House enough.

My mum has been in Elizabeth House for just over three years, and I think the carers look after her really well, especially in these times of the Covid 19 outbreak. Although we can't visit Mum, closing down visiting the home was the right thing to do, although I would like more updates on what is happening

Welcome to Elizabeth House, where you can find out all you need to know about our wonderful home. My name is Ade, and I am the Home Manager. We are a 108-bedroom, spacious, and newly furbished home located on Benfleet Road. The home consists of two units; Poppy and Bluebell. Each unit is set over two floors and is equipped with its own lounge and dining rooms.


We have so much to offer here at Elizabeth House, including an on-site hairdressing salon, a shop, the Garden Café, a bar, a library and a sports room. Some of our regular activities throughout the home include bingo, quizzes, karaoke, arts and crafts and more. Our chef creates very nutritious and appetising meals for residents.


We invite you to pop in and have a look around the home and ask any and all questions you have. We are always happy to help in any way we can. We are so proud of our home and look forward to sharing it with you.

I'm Karen Burrows; I'm the Lifestyle Coordinator. I have worked at Elizabeth House for 10 years. I organise and plan our activities in the home and trips out with our residents. I am a fun, entertaining lady; I'm always willing to take the lead, dress up, and join in to make the residents happy. I'm always cheerful and jolly and get the carers and other team members involved. I enjoy looking around the shops in her spare time for raffle prizes to raise money for our residents and the home. I also use my free time to search social media for any new ideas, new activities, or events we can hold for something different. I say that it makes me happy to go home of an evening knowing the residents have had fun and are happy and smiling.

Hi, I’m Tracey Lennette, and I’ve been the Head Cook at Elizabeth House for 2 years. I take great pride in creating nutritious, well-balanced meals that cater to the individual dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
